- In this video, Martha Stewart shows you how to make a savory homemade tartar sauce. The recipe is very simple to make and pairs deliciously with fried fish, crab cakes, and most seafood dinners. This mayo based condiment is made by mixing together capers, minced shallots, mayo, and chopped cornichons with lemon juice and seasoning. It can be made more sweet or tart depending on your taste preferences.

I thought this WAS the recipe!
Forgot a crucial ingredient😮: Time.
Flavor greatly improves after 1/2 hour, at least.
Its a Southern staple on the Coast of North Carolina!
I know most chefs say there is no cream of tartar in tartar sauce... my grandmother and mother always added cream of tartar to theirs. If you make a regular sauce set a little bi aside and a little cream of tarter and give it a try .... I think you will like the results. It give another layer of flavor that I think greatly enhances it. (it also changes the texture a bit to make it more dense)

Does anyone know if Miracle Whip would work with this instead of mayonnaise?
Ewwe. Miracle Whip has sugar in it and I think it would taste very different, not in a good way.
I have seen boiled eggs put in tartar sauce what's the original one🇨🇾
Martha-no worchestire -sp? In yours? I thought it was. Is it a regional thing? Does anyone add this? Thank you🙏🏻❤️🤔
I’ve never added Worcestershire sauce to mine. I’ve never heard of that. Doesn’t it darken the tartar sauce? I may try it.
Totally right on spec/meant to be. Just got back from Maine and they take condiments seriously. You eat out and tarter sauce is in packaging like ketchup or mustard and lacks flavor, nicer restaurants prepare their own but chefs under lack knowledge and care. Here is why I love Martha and would love to dine at her table ❤❤. 🙃😎💋
What about fresh herbs? Dill perhaps?

Based on the thumbnail picture, "How to Cook: Tatar Sauce" Last I knew, you don't "cook" tartar sauce... C'mon Ms. Stewart, I expect better from you. I'm guessing that "Martha" is not in charge of this channel. This is what you get when you hire flunkies to work for you.
