    I fade down. Fading up for takes too long to blend. That's my preference. Great video 😊

    25yrs ago as a rookie the old barbers taught me to fade down im still in the barber shop today and very rarely do I find any barber who fades this way. I thought maybe I was a relic of the past. When I try to show them they have no interest of learning this technique. Nice video, well done

      I’ll be having a lot more videos to come!! I just been really busy getting my shop ready to open, raising a newborn and running my business. But I have a lot more content I want to talk about and touch that nobody talks about on UA-cam!! Everyone puts videos out there about fading but don’t go into depth about the technical part of barbering!! So soon I will be putting out more videos just been really busy but thanks for the support and encouragemen!! All love

    Great video mate, a lot of these videos on UA-cam don't break it down and rate the systems the way you did. Really glad to have come across this video!

      That’s my goal!! 🫡👍 there is a lot of videos on UA-cam and Instagram that don’t show or explain the nitty gritty of barbering!! They pick n choose what they show for good content but at the end of the day that’s not reality when ur in the barbershop. Most clients don’t have perfect head shape or perfect hair growth patterns, or perfect hair lines! I’m going to go in depth into reality of what u will come across and what to expect! Dfwbarbersupply!!

    both have pros and cons. But ultimately its what you prefer and are comfortable doing.
    Fading up Pros: You can easily identify where your fade starts and bald it out as much as possible and get really detailed with the skin line. You can identify where you are at in your fade more easily without getting lost and you can avoid spreading out the blend too much and control the darkness/bulk of your fade much easier. You can see more clearly the fade you are creating as you go.
    Fading down Pros: Debulks and fades the hair at the same time which is more efficient. Easier to make sure you are spreading the blend as much as possible. Less likely to make lines while fading because everything should blend into each other.
    Fading up cons: Generally it is less efficient than fading down. Easier to leave lines and if you dont debulk first fading into bulk is a lot more difficult and time consuming. Can feel restricting working in small guidelines
    Fading down cons: Easy to get lost in your fade, Much harder to leave a detailed bald transition, Easy to risk spreading a blend out too much for darker fades, harder to master and harder to maintain consistency on all sides of the head. Harder to see the transition you are creating as you fade the hair.
    I use both on all my haircuts and actually combine both into my system because of the pros and cons of both. So i do a hybrid style of both.

      just wondering whats your process?
      What i do is create the guideline and fade in the no guard open guideline
      then I fade down into the guideline; into the no guard close guideline
      so i basically meet halfway in the blend
      Do you do this too?

    • @Mike-hy8cs
      @Mike-hy8cs Рік тому +1

      @Marcus de Luna Sort of. I do the same start but i still fade up with the 1 guard. Anything after the 1 guard I fade down with. I usually use clipper over comb anything higher than the 1.5 but if im going to use a 2 or a 3. I start with the 3 and fade down with all the guards until everything blends into my 1 open.
      The reason I do this is I feel the most important part to a skin fade is your skin line to the 1 closed. If your skin to the 1 looks super clean chances are the whole fade is going to look super clean. Its the area that requires the most detail. Once thats over.. blending the rest of the hair into a 1 closed is pretty easy for most people. Thats why i do that area fading down. Leaves no lines and you can just stack guards ontop of each other.
      I fade up in the most important area (skin to 1 closed) because a lot of times if you fade down by the time you get to this area depending on the fade you are doing these areas start to get congested and harder to fit in. A lot of people even barbers that always fade down ive seen in that area end up making a line and having to go back and spread everything out again to blend it back in. I avoid ever having to redo all the steps over again with my method. I can focus solely on detailing instead of my actual steps which feels a lot better for me personally. There are many ways to fade and the results are all that matter. I focus on efficiency and detail. Ive tried other ways and i can fade in many different ways and the results will be the same but my way is the most efficient and fastest without sacrificing detail that I use. I dont like spending an hour on a clean fade that I could take half the time or even less to do the same work.

    Fading up for me is for more compressed fades. Usually really low or mid drop fades and low tapers. And also works for me when the highest guard im using is a 1. Whereas Fading down i will use for blends and fades that usually require alot of debulking where the 2 guard and 1.5 guard are used and i attack the bulk first then work down

    🔥🔥🔥cut question do you use the corner of the blade when you are fading out guidelines or in between the guidelines

    • @dfwbarbersupply7487
      @dfwbarbersupply7487  Рік тому +1

      I use the corner when detailing or on the drop of a low fade/drop fade to keep the consistency. Taper fades also I will use the corners just because of the limited area we are working with

    When I cut my own hair I definitely fade down but when I cut someone else I can go either way. I'm in the gym 5 days a week and it's painful and tiresome to fight guidelines in my own hair

    I’m sorry but fading UP will NEVER make sense to me, To me, it’s not natural to fade INTO something. You’re supposed to fade AWAY FROM something. Therefore I fade DOWN. U did an awesome job brother but for me I like the way the down fade looks. That side seems to Have less of a line and that’s what catches my eye the most. But like I said I am in NO WAY criticizing your work. You are the pro, I’m not my brother. 😊

      bro you’re thinking of it too literal, it’s not a sense of direction it’s just the steps are in reverse , when you’re fading hair into a beard you’re fading "down" because the steps are in reverse.

    • @Mike-hy8cs
      @Mike-hy8cs Рік тому +4

      technically there is no right or wrong way to fade hair. There are just different techniques and preferences people like using. The "right" way to fade is whatever you are practiced and comfortable with.
