4 door hardtop sedans is getting to be very popular body style in the 1950s. In 1955, Buick Century, and Special did came out with this body style, along with 1955 Oldsmobile 88, Super 88, and 98. For 1956, Buick Roadmaster and Super Series debuted as a 4 door hardtop sedan, along with Cadillac Series 62, Chevrolet Bel Air and 210 Series, and Pontiac Star Chief, and Chieftain Series for the GM line up. Ford Motor Company did came out a a 4 door hardtop sedan for 1956 Ford Fairlane, and Mercury in all 4 Series. For Chrysler Corporation for 1956, Chrysler New Yorker DeLuxe, New Yorker, and Windsor Series did offered 4 door hardtop, along with DeSoto Fireflite, and Firedome Series, Dodge Lancer, Imperial Crown, and Plymouth Belvedere.
This is one fine 56. It's flawless. Of the 55 and 56 Chevrolet Bel-Airs, I always liked the 55s best. When I was a kid, these cars were everywhere. In fact, my brother had a 55 yellow and white, with green interior 4 door sedan Bel-Air. It even had the extra chrome on the bumpers, front and rear. Under the hood was a 283 V8. One of the things I liked about the 55s over the 56s, was the tiny little black bow ties that covered the metal strip on the dash. Whereas the 56s had black rectangles in there place. I also like the taillights on the 55s better than the 56s, although the 56s are interesting, especially with the gas filler was hidden behind the left taillight, that flipped out of the way. That was a common thing on many GM cars of the mid to late 50s.
Beautiful 56 Chevrolet, first 4 door I've seen in awhile, love the color combination, original style interior looks great, this is the way I Like these cars, just like it rolled out in 1956, great video,THANKS for sharing.
