    "Daren has always been a land mired in conflict - from the moment the Mortal Races met in its rolling hills, tall peaks and primeval forests, there was bound to be strife between its wary peoples. With the discovery of Magic, however, came the potential for dramatic change in the world - for good or evil. Centuries after the discovery of the Art, magic has shaped the fears and hopes of countless people, and the heroes and villains that wield it have decided the fate of nations over all these years. Yet for all this struggle, a tenuous balance remained between those who seek to strengthen all Mortal Races and those that seek to lord over them. Little do they know however that amidst the shadowed boughs of the Dead Irall, an ancient evil seeks to rule once again. Few are aware that the fate of the land now lies with brave heroes who are the only ones who can prevent the oncoming Age of Darkness.
    Chronicles of Drunagor - Age of Darkness is a fully cooperative and strategy board game of tactical combat in a dungeon crawl adventure for one to five players. CoD-AoD is based on multiple 3D scenarios, each of them played separately or on a continuous storyline. Each scenario has its own unique setup, darkness rules and different goals that will be needed to be achieved in order to obtain victory. Played over a series of rounds until either the chosen adventure objective is achieved by the heroes or a single hero dies or is corrupted by the darkness itself. The order of activation is dictated by the initiative track and it alternates between heroes, monsters and the darkness itself. Once they all activate, a round is over and a new one begins, so players win or lose as a team. The game is won when the adventure objectives are met. The game is lost when one player is either killed or corrupted by darkness.
    As you go by the different adventures, your heroes will find themselfs in a wide variety of scenarios and instead of only reading thru the descriptions of the place you are, the game will show you beautifull illustrations of what you can see and how you can interact with the scenario. Every choice on how you interact with certain things could possibly change the way your adventure continues. Maybe you will find a secret passage, or maybe you can find a locked chest, the choice is up to you.
    Choose one of the heroes and take upon this quest to defeat the power of evil and the everlasting darkness from the land of Daren."

    I shrugged this off when I learned about it from others making comparisons to Wild Assent during that campaign but this playthrough totally sold me on it. I don't know how I'm NOT going to be backing it in some form or another now. Thanks for the excellent tutorial and introduction to CoD.

    loved the realisation in Adams voice when he knew/thought his goose was cooked. [but fortunately he got through it]..just shows what a very good tactical game this is!.

    At one instance Vorn had six shield tokens, but I believe four is the maximum you can have of stackable tokens. Great video though, it's always fun watching your content.

    Thank you for the awesome video and coverage, I really love this game! The rules are a bit messy at first, but the enemy turns are so fast and the cube system is so much fun and strategic.

      They’re also making the darkness rules more streamlined and clear as part of the Apocalypse expansion which is nice to hear in terms of placement.

      It’s pretty much perfect besides the treasure deck being boring and maybe a bit too easy (which can fairly easily be mitigated with existing alternate set up solutions). It has great art, tons of interesting choices, awesome interactions, and a long but not overly long campaign that you can actually play through without dedicating your whole life to it.

    very nice vid. actually one of the best vids ive viewd on drunagor. constructive criticism: it sounds like you are shouting. you can speak normally. Sometimes in the vid you do. its hard to listen to for a half hour. Maybe you could tone it down a bit. otherwise very well done

    What’s the purpose of the game trays and elevation changes? Didn’t really have a effect.

      Hey Hyperdeus! The different elevations in the game do have an impact. It's not seen as much in the tutorial but elevation has bonuses and there is also fall damage when knocked down two levels or when purposely jumping down to name a couple. Cheers!

    CoD is my favorite game of all time. It is pure concentrated fun. In my opinion it is the best crawler mechanically and gameplay wise. Everything else is simply just amazing. I am returning with full all in again.

      I really enjoy it too! There’s something special about it. I like that it reveals the map secretly as you go. Which is why I love Shadows of Brimstone. Too many dungeon crawlers ruin the excitement by giving you the map layout at the start and too much information. The door idea is brilliant.

    Thank you for these videos.. I was having a hard time deciding whether or not to back this project.. After watching your video, I don't think it'd be a game I'd enjoy. Beautiful components, great minis, terrific looking game, just not one I'd be willing to spend $400+. Thanks!

    i think you managed to play a single darkness round correct, i could place almost all tiles using the rules and getting to the hero. cheers

      Hey! The tiles pulled couldn’t be placed going across elevations and towards the hero and as such need to be broken into three singles pieces to do so. As you’ll see in the rules the darkness needs to be heading towards the strongest hero. In addition, a special rule for this scenario was beginning from underneath the cultist or if darkness is already under the cultist, it branches out from the closest darkness space to the strongest hero. I confirmed this with CGS as well. The new Apocalypse expansion will make darkness spawning more streamlined in terms of placement which will be a good thing. Thanks for watching!

    Or you have the posibillity to marked a space of your abillities by a trauma cube ,(pink cube ) and you keep going from the same spot thatyour heroe spond ?

    Shouldn't you be able to be reduced to zero HP once and thus get a Trauma cube and get restored to full HP?

      Some abilities have will give you FOCUS. For example ability "Battle Focus" : FOCUS 1, CLEANSE 1

    If your placed your darkness tiles like you did at 39:11, than I would say the first laying from the first rune is false, cause it did not jump downstairs?
    And the third placement was possible, even the first position was already occupied by a tile?
    And does height add something to the game with the trays? Atm it seems just to be cosmetic.

      Nope, its not cosmetic, theres rules for advantage and disvantage on attacking in diferent floors and theres damage for falling from.

      If the tiles don’t fit per the rulebook in terms of moving towards the strongest hero they’re broken down into three single pieces.
      The darkness spawns based on the special rule here. So it begins under the cultist (if there isn’t already darkness) and branches toward the hero (doesn’t hop over existing darkness to spread). If there is already darkness under the cultist when spawning darkness then you find the darkness piece closest to the strongest hero and spread out from there.

      I think the special rules for the cultists as wandering darkness point is probably difficult to understand at the beginning.

      Not true if you have the all-in like me (check my video showing all the painted minis of CoD on my channel). It it will get another ton of new monster in the new expansions and also a more complex monster AI (that will be optional).

      Yes is true. The core box as only 7 types of monsters and 1 boss. The SG adds: 3 more and the All In adds more what? 3 boss + 10 types of monsters. Descent 2nd in the Core as 9 types of monsters + 6 lieutenants. I'm not saying that is not a good game...but the lack of variety vs price is there, in my opinion.

      The original stretch goals covered that aspect. I believe there is quite a bit of variation plus each monster has multiple levels.

    How does this game compare to Middara and Descent? What are the differences between the 3?

      All three are very different games. I recommend all as they all provide different experiences. Beyond each being in the dungeon crawler category, they’re all great games. Might come down to the theme!
