I had my entire thyroid removed back on July 16 and now I am in the hospital waiting for a radioactive pill treatment to have any remaining thyroid tissue killed off. I had a blood test done and the reading came back with a 2.6 indicating that some tiny bit of thyroid tissue is still present in my body. So this radioactive treatment should kill off the rest. Good luck to all. Lost my sister and aunt on my dad's side to breast cancer. Then after a nightmare of a divorce got diagnosis with pap thyroid cancer. This helps alot. Had thyroid problem for 30 yrs since 10.
Had a biopsy done on left/right nodes a couple of weeks age. Seems the left is fine, but the right side could lead to cancer down the road from my understanding. Doctor suggested to remove it to be on the safe side, also suggested to remove the life side as well. but I see in the comments below some herbal treatments I am going to ask about that.
Yeah that was a bit puzzling. I thought that they give you some type of fluid so they can detect infection in the lymph nodes and then remove the ones that come up cancerous as I've heard of people only having one or two removed after tests, so why they decided to remove and then test is a bit puzzling and I'd question the doctor on that procedure. My understanding was they remove them as they are discovered to be cancerous but we don't know the credibility of the surgeon or healtchare team so that may be a factor. Some doctors may decide to take the "broad" approach and remove more than what is perhaps necessary. A good doctor will do the tests and try to narrow down the issue and only remove what is needed, UNLESS it's possible that it was that they were concerned the one lymph node was at a bad state/stage that infection of nearby nodes was very high, then it might make sense. But I'm not a doctor but also that's not how my surgeon (and most research I've done) says it's to be done. Usually it's narrowed down to the ones in question unless it's a bigger problem (like in one case I read about where the cancer cells was trying to get out of the node and spread and was deemed aggressive so they had to remove it).
Thank you for sharing this. I am so afraid. I have to have surgery soon. I was given the iodine radiation because one side of my thyroid lobe was cancerous. 🙏💕
Hello. No I am not from the Philippines. I live in the USA. The Iodine radiation with my insurance copay was $200. My insurance covered 80%. So I guess the total cost was $2000.
How cancerous was it? I had a 9mm cancer. The whole growth was just over a cm. They are not doing radiation or chemo on me. Reading these comments was a bad idea because so many stories of people getting cancer again.
Why would they choose iodine therapy as a first step? Generally that's only used AFTER surgery has been performed if the problem persists or comes back? I find that a bit odd. Most Dr's I've talked to said that many patients (in their experience) don't need RAI and it's only done after removal (partial or full removal).
@@reflectionsinthebible3579 I honestly feel the cancer never really goes away but may go into remission and not show up again (meaning cells may still be in your body but they don't really multiply or cause issues) although supposedly your body does deal with cancer cells -- it's a problem when they begin to grow rapidly and the body cannot handle them but again supposedly your body can try to fight them off, as I suspect everyone has "random" cells in their body that are mutated but that the body tries to remove them as part of your immune system. However also consider people's other potential issues too. Some people may have other conditions that make them more succeptible to redevelop cancer later (such as other diseases, not following Dr's perscriptions or going back to the doctor to get regular check-ups, etc)? I have to have this same procedure done myself and this is one of my concerns, but I told myself that (1) I want the cancer out (So Iam getting the procedure done -- in my case, full removal) (2) I will follow-up with the doctor regularly and do the required work (and take the required meds). But keep in mind there may be other factors. For all you know, these people didn't follow-up until a problem arose. There are some regular tests your doctor can do to catch it hopefully in early stages if resurgence does happen. I guess the other thing is that while it's common to worry about it, worrying excessively about it can make things worse in some cases, cause more stress on your body, etc. The way I look at it is while it is concerning, and I don't know what the future is, we are where we are, and we move forward from here. There's no sense overly worrying about "what could happen" because it may or may not happen, but the big thing is to address things as they come up, do your regular visits with your doctor, and take it from there. I think some people are sometimes advised to avoid the surgery in the earlier stages and just monitor, but that may be some bad advice and may increase your changes of it coming back even after removal, so my thing is to take care of it as soon as it's discovered.

I get tired easily so i dont work as much at age 52. Ive slowly gained weight and cant seem to get rid of it. Im 5 ft. 1 inch so i gotta watch what i eat and walk a lot daily. I recovered quickly after surgery but my voice got weaker after that.
I too had a total thyroidectomy back in 1990 (Thyroid cancer). I do feel muscle ache & pain . Joint pain as well. I feel tired a lot but most of the time with exercise & a healthy diet I feel good. I still have a good physique but am now 20 pounds over my combat weight (190 lbs) ideally 170lbs is good for me. Life is still good after surgery so stay positive & don't let it stop you from doing or enjoying your life. Meds for it ( Levothyrxine) work great.

You could go to a store and by Armor which is used for the thyroid and made from pigs thyroid. But it didn't help me , I gained tons of weight and felt pretty bad . I've heard it works for some but I'm one out of the 10 or more that hasn't done well without my thyroid .. they also found another tumor, carotid body tumor right before surgery which was going to eventually kill me by age 50..
You should be ashamed of yourself for advertising for a cancer center! I have had a thyroidectomy 5 years ago and my life and who I am is unrecognizable because of the synthroid I am now forced to take and because of the permanent after effects of radiation, twice! The experience has been horrifying. My Advice..don't let a doctor remove your whole thyroid if possible. Always get a second opinion and even a third. All doctors want to do is make money off of you with what they are selling, poison and surgeries! Shame on YOU for advertising for them!
What happened after removing it? What way did your life change? I’m due for surgery soon because of cancer we can’t just let it stay and grow it must be removed
@@Armaninabz Mira, I strongly urge you to get a second opinion to see if it is only detected on one side. If it is, don't let them take both sides and force you on fake thyroid hormones for the rest of your life. That is a nightmare. Your body can function fine with one side. Also, if the first iodine radiation doesn't work, dont let them do anymore after that. By the second dose it ruined my ears and my eyes from the radiation and none of the many doctors take any responsibility for it so it remains unfixed, even if it IS fixable after the radiation has done its permanent damage. Get a second opinion. And understand they care Nothing about the quality of your life. Hopefully you won't have to find that out by making the same mistake I did...trusting them. Kathy

Can't be around loud music or even have a breeze in my face anymore without sufferieng terribly so I have become a hermit. I lost my life. I know now it was because of the radiation because thats when it all happened. Doctors will poison you and never admit when it causes perminant damage. I feel “ normal” about 20 percent of the time. I guess some people don’t do as well with the Levothyroxine. My moods have gone haywire.
I agree. I have had issues since day 1

If you could no longer get the medication , in the case of a long term grid down, financial collapse, transportation collapse, or any number of disruptions how long would you survive without hormone replacement medication? Pretty much like a insulin dependent individual?
Death will be imminent
Just found ok today I have cancer. I’m super scare. Thanks for the advice.

Are you still alive? I suffer thyroid for yrs not until I come across Dr emuakhe from Africa with his thyroid shrinking herbs that gave me a lasting solutions to date
Good luck to all. Lost my sister and aunt on my dad's side to breast cancer. Then after a nightmare of a divorce got diagnosis with pap thyroid cancer. This helps alot. Had thyroid problem for 30 yrs since 10.
Thank you for your story, I am going to have a surgery the day after tomorrow, and feel very nervous after,
Hi Elsie how r u now after d surgery. I got mine month ago
My ex will be getting her surgery down the road. Glad they can help the darling gal.
How sad they removed all those healthy nodes you need.
Mam how much it cost the iodine radiation ...are you from philippines?
What is the life expectancy after the surgery?

Hi Lena has the supplement and cleanser worked?
@lenasophie860 would be interested to know as well
I have a scar from my 2 surgeries. I had thyroid cancer 12 years ago. Luckily it didnt spread. I now take 88mcg levothyroxine. I hate the hairloss from it.
Hi, can you explain more about how did you get diognosis .. did you have swollen gland or just constant ache in your throat ?
Can you tell me about surgery... After surgery dite
few week ago I felt some pains and I went to the hospital my doc told me I had Herpes about 1 yr and I need to start the treatment early from DR OIGIANGBE 💯
What if you stopped taking the pills? lets say you no longer have insurance
You'd wanna pay for them however you could bc your basically taking a fake thyroid , it's the control center in your body . You'd feel awful.
U have to take thyroid hormone if u dony hv a thyroid....ur levels can get so high WILL cause heart problems or evevn coma
Living with hypothyroidism was so hard and painful, but thanks to doctor okouromi treatment using herb’s to get rid of thyroid problems…🌻💙❣️❣️💟❣️💕
HI what was the herbs you used? I would like to see if it will help my case.
Maybe you should find a really good endocrinologist. Millions of people live normal lives after having it removed
Kathy
Kathy K What kind of ear problem did u get? I have tinnitus if I go abit deaf my tinnitus will worsen !! I’m waiting rite now to speak with the surgeon about what’s going to happen I’m very nervous :( I hope I can keep half of it :(
@@Armaninabz What happened to my ears was about two months into my second iodine radiation treatment I woke up one morning and my eyes felt like glue (no tear ducts working) and my ears were ringing very loud. All doctors denied that it could be from anything they did, ordered or prescribed. I've been to every kind of doctor and they see the problem but no one can fix it or admit how I got it. Can't be around loud music or even have a breeze in my face anymore without sufferieng terribly so I have become a hermit. I lost my life. I know now it was because of the radiation because thats when it all happened.
Doctors will poison you and never admit when it causes perminant damage. Instead, they like to view themselves as your saving angels when all they are really doing is poisoning you for a hell of a lot of money. Radiation and chemo (both poison) is selling like hot cakes! And the doctors couldn't be happier about it. After all, its making Their life GREAT!
Thank you for the information,i am ready on Wednesday for my total thyroidectomy . God speed
I know it was a long time ago now but i really have to say your scar looks like a natural crease line on your neck you cant see it .dont ever get self conscious your verry beautiful and dont ever hide your neck because that is beautiful to.i saw the big sparklers on your finger, that's beacause your
