What a treat! More art walks. Absolutely right to comment on the comfy chairs in a bookstore - so many places do not have them (possibly fearing people will just plonk themselves down and stay all day) - but having nowhere to sit shortens the time you shop because you feet get tired standing, looking at bookshelves. "More justice more peace" is a great legend to have as public art and the "Gate of harmonious interest" is stunning. I love the sentence you read out about paintings being "poised" and helping us to be still.
I really appreciate your commitment to social justice, & books that advocate for better well-being, equality & inclusivity, thanks for this moral strength - inspiring.
This is such an exciting read-a-thon. I love it! My goodness, you introduce me to a lot of new city-scapes, public art, & books (I've not previously heard of), so thanks for that - wow! This BookTube is a wonderful lark!
The talkative birds are cracking me up. Carmageddon sounds interesting. I'd enjoy living somewhere more fully walkable. We've downsized to one car and now we've gone electric. I'm glad you're enjoying Thunderclap!
@@readandre-read Thunderclap was an absolute treat! I really loved it. Congrats on downsizing and going electric. Car driving is often the only practical choice, yet there are many people who echo your sentiments and would prefer living somewhere more walkable. I hope urban planners are taking note.
@@spreadbookjoy If you’re like me in that you enjoy having an audio guide when you visit a museum for the first time, this book is for you. I love how Cumming talks about art!
I'm enjoying the art walks. I did love The Lover. It is a bit disturbing but honest and revealing. The world it describes is long gone but decisions young women make have changed less. I'm not surprised you enjoyed Thunderclap.
@@scallydandlingaboutthebooks I listened to 4 authors discussing The Lover, one of whom found it as enigmatic as I did (after he read it 3 times) and another who reads it every year. That whole conversation was enlightening and I learned about nouveau roman style but I have no desire to read anything else by Duras.
Always such a great time watching your video! I haven't listened to 99pi in years but I downloaded the first 3 episodes of the series and I'm hooked! I also got the book and will be doing a hybrid with the audiobook (so long it comes in 3 part wow!) - thank you for the introduction :)
@@100onBooks Hello Nyambura! I go through stretches where I don’t listen to 99pi too. And when I come back to it the high quality is still there. I love Roman Mars’ voice. Reading The Power Broker is a massive undertaking. Doing it alongside the podcast is a great idea. Enjoy!

Hi Lindy, I read the Lover when I was in my twenties and don’t remember much about it.
@@59cubanita Maybe it’s a novel for young people? Or for people who are more romantic than me.
