I bought a Piaggio BV 400s Motorcycle (aka Maxi Scooter) ten months ago to use for personal use, reduce my pollution impact, and to keep my car mileage lower, small biz. It's made by Vespa.
At the time of this video, I live in the USA, Southern California in the San Gabriel Valley outside of Los Angeles.
Outside of the USA this scooter is known as the Beverly 400.
This is my walk around video, thoughts, things I like and don't like video.
I OWN AND USE THESE FOR MY Piaggio BV 400s
Coverado Motorcycle Cover (It fits great with windshield installed. Haven't tested it with the piaggio top box)
    amzn.to/3lv7Kxi
JZAQ Motorcycle Helmet Bluetooth Headset - I use it with my AGV K6 Helmet
    amzn.to/3Yp2jP41
Abraham Lincoln Sticker Vinyl Bumper Sticker (This is the same one in the video)
    amzn.to/3HU2vPu
LFPartS Black Motorcycle Stainless Steel License Plate Frame (This is the same one in the video) It makes the license plate all black and decent metal quality)
    amzn.to/3IdEAvK
ZUOZE Small Cargo Net (If you do not have a top box and want to carry a cover on the back like shown in the video, you will need one of these)
    amzn.to/3DYInKC
LORADAR 2 Pack Retractable Security Cable (I use these as visual deterrents and a remind to remove my ulocks. I use a Kryptonite New York Fahgettaboutit as my main lock)
    amzn.to/3YogqEs
Kryptonite New York Fahgettaboutit ( I use this on my back wheel and a different brand on the front wheel)
    amzn.to/3EmjTLV
Onvian Bike Alarm with Remote 2 Pack (I've had great success with this as an audio deterrent for those who might want to sit or lean or move the Scooter. I recommend you consider combining this with other similar security deterrents your dealer may offer that are not available on Amazon.)
    amzn.to/3ROUFLm
AVG K6 Full Face Helmet (Carbon Light, Dot Approved) (I love this helmet, it is super light so my head doesn't get tired, great styling (Mine is show in the video), air flow is a bit limited however during hot weather.
    amzn.to/3JZZz6C
5 PC - CE Level 2 certified armor pads (I have two protective riding jackets. One for winter, link below and also a summer mesh jacket not available on Amazon. I use these CE Level 2 armor pads in them.)
    amzn.to/3DXJV7T
Cortech Flathead Boot (I wear these boots everyday whether I am riding my scooter or not. )
    amzn.to/3YofJek
Cortech Men’s Slayer Canvas Motorcycle Street Riding Shoe (I wear these when I need a little more protection and won't be doing as much walking.)
    amzn.to/3xeb02N
Drizzte Men's Black Nylon Military Tactical Belt (Plus Sized) (It's well made, wide, adjustable and well keep your pants on.)
    amzn.to/3JZZcJg
Carhartt Men's Relaxed Fit Tapered Leg Jean (Heavy Duty Jeans)
    amzn.to/3IgeRCL
Tour Master Sentinel LE Rain Jacket (This is my Cold Weather Jacket.)

Thanks. I agree, most Scooter videos are from the Philippines, which is why I did this video. Hard to figure out what would be helpful and useful to mention. Hopefully it's helpful. Probably longer than it needed to be. Robot on @VespaMotorsport has some useful videos on it. Just a few currently. They're in San Diego and do a lot of custom work. The dealer here in the Los Angeles area is in Sherman Oaks and they discourage customization.

True. Vespa is more recognized brand wise, so I added Vespa to the title to help those who only know that name to discover the amazing Piaggio line. The Piaggio design center is actually in my city here in California, unfortunately they do not sell at that location.

@@RandyDreammaker Piaggio is one of the few serious businesses in Italy, most businesses are registered as SRL which means very limited responsibility (for example in case of bankruptcy) while Piaggio is registered as SPA which means company that is quoted in the stocks or corporation.
They have a fully loaded Piaggio factory in Vietnam which serves the Asian and the Oceania markets and also they distribute the spare parts with other parts of the world too.
I would "never" buy a Vespa because it's not safe to ride and also it's very very expensive!

Thank you for your video. Even though I have a 2020 GTS 300 Supersport HPE that I love, I confess that I'm interested in the BV 400. I'm just a smidge under 5'7'' and, correct me if I am wrong, but your bike has about a 33-inch high seat, and I think that is about two inches taller than mine. I wonder about my being able to handle it versus the Vespa. Other advantages of yours are a higher top end speed that helps with getting out of others' way in emergencies and the larger tires that aid stability. It's a beautiful bike and thanks for sharing.

My 2021 BV400 The Beverley here in Australia now has 21000 kilometres on the clock..It is an awesome machine. It’s good for urban running about and also for open road and freeway touring. Top speed? Who cares, I have no problem passing slower vehicles at speeds up to 140kph , 85mph and with our speed limits and painful Penalties that’s plenty. I would like a parking brake and Piaggio has one that works by the side stand maybe in future models.

I've the latest built of the 350 and I simply love it.
The Beverly has many top features and specifications like the nice and small size, the very low center of gravity which helps for a very stable riding style.
I used to have a motorbike and on the freeway was not stable with winds but once I jumped on the Beverly I felt like something magic was happening, the scooter is very very stable at high speeds with front and side winds.
Another great feature is the long service scheduling which is every 10,000Km.
And the range also is great.

Agree. I missed buying the 350 by about three weeks. The 400 came out right when I actually had the money to buy one and suddenly none of the dealers here in California had any BV 350s. I did find one dealer who had two, but they were only willing to give me $350 USD off between the cost of the Beverly (BV350 and the 400) So of course I went with the 400. Great scooters, wherever you are.

    Good review. I use to own a 2017 BV350.
As for the warranty - you displayed 4 years for $700, but it's really 2 years for $700 isn't it?

    • @RandyDreammaker
      @RandyDreammaker  Рік тому

Thanks! I almost bought a BV350, but they just ended the line when the BV 400 was released and all the dealers said it is a much better vehicle. So yes, you get two years warranty for free, and you can buy an additional two years for $700.

It's 399cc and also how often do you ride? 49mpg in the city with a 3.2 gal tank is 156 miles. You have't filled up in a month? I ride about 500 miles a week, currently have a 2017 bv350

    • @RandyDreammaker
      @RandyDreammaker  Рік тому

Well, I have a Honda Element 2003 that I use when the Piaggio isn't suitable for what I am doing, but overall, I average around 1,500 miles a year between the two of them. So I am almost to my first 600 mile service. I was a small business owner and all my work was done out of my home and within my city, so I do not have to put a ton of miles on my vehicles like when I used to commute out of the area an hour. I am currently averaging around 52 miles per gallon in the city.

No. Robot is in San Diego 2 1/2 hours away. I am by the Rose Bowl, so I bought it at the Los Angeles Vespa in Sherman Oaks.

My current ride is a Burgman 400; sold the BV500 and don't miss the 100cc and all the problems associated with Italian's junks.

    • @RandyDreammaker
      @RandyDreammaker  Рік тому +2

I've never heard of a BV 500, is that only available outside of the USA? I've never had a 100cc so I have no perspective on it. The Burgman 400 is a really nice outdated and old technology machine with a large seat, nice riding position for touring, but compared to the new BV 400 also known as the Beverly 400 outside of the USA, the Burgman's performance on highway and freeway driving isn't as safe, since it settles in at around 65 mph and if you need power real quick beyond that to get out of danger, it just doesn't have the power that the Piaggio BV 400 has. Plus, the Piaggio BV 400 2022 and 2023 is all new tech and Euro 5 compliant. Suzuki is been sitting on its outdate design for years, only changing the paint color and once in a while adding something different, but technology wise and performance wise, is just old. Great scooter, but old.
