I use this one as well, works best when adding a bit of flux! The problem with these though, is the heating element is attached directly to the tip, so you can’t actually replace them. Personally I like the extra wiggle room, allows me to move the pin around slightly, making sure all the solder around it is flowing and thus more easily sucked up :)

Very awesome! Been on the lookout for something like this! Do you have any recommendations for an inexpensive but quality soldering iron? The one I have currently is cheap and pretty crappy.

I've gotten so use to using solder pumps and solder braid for Smd. I have a Radioshack desolder pump I still use for IC components and I keep the tips in good shape plus they sell replacment tips for that model on wish if your tip gets to gummed up and there really cheap so you can pick up a few for a couple bucks.

i have this one.. fixed 2 controllers, replaced whole left joysticks, worked awesome, however just went to use it again for the ps4 left sticks and wont work worth crap, its not snapping up and sucking the solder off like it did, its clean, works until you get it onto the board.

It wasn’t that you needed more stuff for that last desoldering tool, it was that it wasn’t the right one for a US customer. They make 110v versions too. 220/240v is not just China, it’s most of UK/EU, AUS, etc. If you adapted it to your dryer plug it probably would have worked great but you’re still dealing with 50hz product versus 60hz AC power.

  • @frankstone919

    Thanks for the video.
Very seldom would I use one of these. Except for a repair of a power connector or jack on a piece of equipment.
If it would last long enough to do one set of stepper motors on a 2006 Mustang , it would be worth it. LOL
A trick to get lead free solder to come lose is add some 60/40 solder to the part you're desoldering.

    • @amirpourghoureiyan1637

Skip on a desoldering gun, get a rework station, its not that much more, and it is worth the investment. a decent one will give you a heat gun, soldering iron, and a desoldering iron, and possibly a power supply all in one, very handy!!!
