  • I show you step by step how to replace the electric/power window motor and regulator in your 87-91 Ford F-150, F-250, or F-350. I assume the process is similar for 80-87 and 92-96 ford trucks too.

    That isn't the way to remove the switch panel. Twisting the screwdriver just damages the plastic trim piece and forces the spring loaded metal retainer.
    Put a small screwdriver in the slot on the end. With the tip towards the door you'll feel the metal frame that stays in place. Angle the tip away from the door and you'll feel it go over the edge of the frame and onto the spring clip that holds the switches to the metal frame. Now push in on the screwdriver to compress the spring clip and the switches will come out. Repeat on the other end.

    Very informative and entertaining. The 'stuff' at the bottom you cleaned out, priceless. I have to, don't want to, do this on my '90 Bronco, so I will be coming back to watch this again. I wonder if the bolts to mount the bracket could be glued/spot welded in place so don't have to get a d@mn wrench in there to help tighten. I don't have meat claws but that looks annoying as hell to tighten. Engineers/designers drive me crazy sometimes. Great video!

    Love it man felt like I was out there working on my grandpa's truck I was wanting to see a video just to see what all is entailed to accomplish this task I don't think I could have found a better video. Awesome video man felt like I was outside working on it myself. got a couple good laughs. laid-back, comfortable ,and in a language I can understand. Plus git you some good help there. That's what I'm talkin about. most the time I can't find half of my damn tools when I need them so I'm working with whatever I got within reach. Heck that's how I feel someone can really learn ways of how to make repairs. So when something breaks in the middle of nowhere with a MacGyver special limited tool set rolling around under the seat or in the catchalls under old cigarette butts and melted sticks of gum..they still got faith. It ain't over til it's over. Anyway... Def gotta check out your other videos. Hope your channel does become one of them greats. I'd vote for ya.

    Thanks for this video, brother; very helpful. The gears recently stripped out on my 93 F-150, passenger door window regulator. Initially, I was thinking of just changing the gear for $20, as replacing the regulator and dealing with the rivets seemed like a bear to deal with. After watching your video, I realized it was smarter to order/replace the regulator / motor with a new part that should last for several years. One question, what size/length were those bolts you used to secure the regulator to the door? Thanks, again 👏👏💯

    • @LambchopsChopShop

      Every car may be different. Unfortunately I haven't had to do this for a ford tempo, so I can't tell you exactly how they are attached. I would pull the door panel off and get a good look at how its attached. It'd be nice if It was bolted on, but even if it's riveted, it should be similar steps as in my video. • @trustme7731
    @trustme7731 2 роки тому +4

    You worked too hard at this. For the rivets, just hit them with a hammer to drive the pins in. They will fall into the door. Then drill the hole left in the rivet with a small drill bit to make sure you are centered and then a 1/4" bit. The rivet washer may spin when drilling but it can be held by putting a small wedge behind it. The 1/4" bit removes all of the rivet without risking damage from a larger bit that everyone else is using. Vacuum the inside bottom of the door to remove debris.
    The window does not need to be removed. I put the window all the way up first (mine failed up) and taped it with masking tape (NOT duct tape) over the top of the frame to hold it up. I put a piece of paper towel over the weather stripping so the tape wouldn't stick to it. If it failed down, just do it after the regulator has been loosened.
    Attach the regulator to the window glass before bolting the regulator in place and bolt what you can. Manipulate the switch to align the other holes.
    I used external star washers on the bolts inside the door. They do a better job of keeping the bolt from turning as you tighten the nut and you may not need to hold the bolt head on the inside at all.
    I'll change both sides while I'm at it. Got 2 regulators with motors for $73 on Amazon. $84 each at O'Reilly. Oddly, Ford made my 1990 F350 4 door with power windows for the front only. My power door locks are failing too so I will replace all of the actuators. $60 for a set of 4, also on Amazon.
    I found a much easier way of replacing these than what other youtubers are doing.
    Work smart, not hard and have fun!

    • @LambchopsChopShop
      @LambchopsChopShop  2 роки тому

      I had tried to hammer the pins in when I did the drivers side first. For some reason the pins didn't want knock out, and I was actually starting to bend the sheet metal. I just made the decision to grind them off after that. You right about the window, I was just my personal choice to remove it. It made it easier to clean it really good off camera. It was pretty nasty. Lots of good information here. Thanks for commenting.

    • @trustme7731
      @trustme7731 2 роки тому +1

      Maybe your rivets were corroded given the mileage. All of mine popped right out with about 3 good blows but my '90 has only 96k miles and is always indoors.

    I, too, am a smart-ass. I didn't realize how annoyong I could be until I saw this video.
    Just get to the point. Do the job. The wise-ass comments detract from the task and are actually confusing as to what is real and what is bullshit. I came here for the information not; the humor.
    Given that, thanks for posting.
    I suggest you watch a "Chris Fix" video. He does a great job. He has no bullshit. He gets in and gets it done with no distractions.
