    You are correct on the washer it called a spring washer and it does go on your parking brake bracket but you need to put some caliper grease on the 3 contact point of the brake shoes

    Great video. You explained everything very well. The only thing I would add is to wire brush and lubricate the six contact points that the two shoes ride on. Don't use a lot of brake grease. Just a light coating.

    I don’t normally comment on videos. But I had to echo some of the comments I’ve seen here. Your video was extremely helpful. Very specific and concise. I completely rebuilt the rear brakes on my 95 F150 and I don’t think we would have been able to complete it without this video. Thank you!!

    The fact that all you had to do to remove the drum was to just simply pull it off pissed me off lol. My drums were rusted on so bad It took me a mapp gas torch, a 10 pound sludge hammer and a case of beer to get them both off lol

    Hi! Guys i am a first generation explorer fan but i just have a headache with rhe diameter of rhe drums... I went to the dealer and they told me that they no longer had information about those measurements. I wanted to buy the drums but they asked me for 9 inches, 10 or 11 and I was over the moon. Does anyone know how to find that information? thank you so much!

      Remove the wheel, it should be written on the drum, if all else fails, measure the drum

      They should be two separate cables, a front cable and the rear (split) cable. Your local auto parts store should be able to order them or rockauto.com online.

    If a person accidentally lost (in trash....) the wheel cylinder links, where to get them? Common auto part stores have choices of brake drum hardware kits, but no wheel cylinder links..even separately. Why so hard to find?

    • @TheFixTech

    • @TheFixTech
      @TheFixTech  2 роки тому +1

      Yes, I can film that. To remove the rotors on a 4x4 you will need a special socket. Different year trucks require different sockets as some had manual locks, some auto locks with 3 bolts, some with 5 bolts. I can go through all that in the video.

    wait, the shoes with more materials is for the back while the ones with less goes in the front

    • @TheFixTech
      @TheFixTech  2 роки тому +2

      Yes, not sure if it makes a difference, but that is how it shows in the manual. The bigger shoe (has more brake pad) goes on the rear of the drum (facing the rear bumper) then smaller shoe faces the front bumper. They can be switched and placed in opposite positions but I’ve always done it the way the manual specifies

    • @LeeLeezy19
      @LeeLeezy19 2 роки тому +1

      @@TheFixTech well i just do this because it has something to do with weight distribution and velocity of rear braking, obviously when the brakes is applied weight goes to the front of the vehicle and the bigger shoes with more materials grabs the rear of the drums for better braking of the rear
