Can you imagine if Jeff would have actually accepted Daves offers to join Megadeth? I mean, i fucking love Marty..... But holy shit Jeff is in a different league.
Probably would sound the same. Correct me if I'm wrong but dave wrote most of the stuff. Im sure Marty had some say and ideas, but I think no matter the lead it would still sound the same. I'm not 100% sure though.
+Troy yeah I'm sure megadeth would have kept that same awesome sound they had with Poland if he was still in the band. Still waiting for a sequel to peace sells!
I wish Coburn had stayed on as Annihilator's vocalist. He was, in my opinion, the best vocalist they had. He had a massive vocal range, and if you want proof of that, listen to Imperiled Eyes. It sucks that he only did the one album with them.
I think that's the reason Annihilator didn't became bigger, the constant line-up changes, people just got used to a vocalist and on the next album/tour he was already gone.
***** Yeah, fans don't like it when a bandmember leaves, specially the leadsinger, just take a look how people bitched about Sammy Hagar in VH for years and when Eddie replaced him with Gary Cherone in the late 90's,they were bitching about that too.And now take a look at Annihilator,on every new album, a new singer, hell an entire new band,it doesn't help selling records/tickets despite the music beeing great.
That's true, it hurt Yngwie as well. If he could have kept one singer for a long time, he would have been WAY bigger because his music is totally commercial. Coburn Pharr did one Omen record that I hated, and it had nothing to do with him - Paul O'Neil (Savatage producer) came in and in the early days of digital recording, they made everything sound wimpy as hell.... and all of the bite and drive that Omen had on the previous release, Paul O'Neil eliminated with one record. Coburn is one of my favorite singers - go listen to the demo's he did of "Bats in The Belfry" - he owned that shit. Not to take anything away from Aaron, he was a bad-ass in his own right - and while he had an awesome range, he didn't have the bight and power that Coburn Pharr had. I just wish somebody with some actual money had backed Annihilator with enough cash so that they could have all made a living doing it, but the reality is - that has happened to tons of bands we think of as being "big". Fates Warning? Their singer, Ray Alder, was working in a record store.
What I find cool about this video, is that it probably wasn't hard to make doesn't look like high tech footage, yet it's super awesome and just works cause the guys were so energized
The best period of the band, for me for sure. Super, a perfect combination of rhythms, absolutely revolutionary at the time. I recommend harder music to all fans. The band still plays great to this day.
Jeff Waters has always been one of the top 80's metal guitarists and songwriters, his bandmates just never seemed to meet the same standard in my opinion.

I get all kinds of emotions when I listen to this band. They have mellow moments, then they rip right out with their intense rock. There is so much going on in this song that it is simply captivating. Never a dull moment!
Since we are at Roadrunner Records here, i want to mention the Mercyful Fate influenced Riff that kicks in at 2:38 , and gives me chills every time i listen to this epic song by the Canadian thrash titans Annihilator.
@@guitarriff333 Never really thought of Megadeth as a thrash band. It's really just the first couple records and a few songs here and there that are actual thrash. Mostly just heavy metal imo. But great nonetheless.

Coburn will always be the Annihilator singer IMHO, I own the "Never neverland" LP and when he left I wasn't interested anymore. Although the live footage I've seen with Padden is impressive.

jeff Waters is the single most underrated guitarist of all time!!!
Him and Chuck Schuldiner are the greatest yet underrated metal songwriters. Someone who's also very underrated is Glenn Tipton.
Don't forget Glen Drover
people dont recognize Canadian talent
Um, Glenn Drover, Yo?
American metal? The close to the Canadian border they live the better their music is... or it is just me and my European taste :P
One of best thrash metal albums ever. Waters isnt even hardly mentioned in same breath as Hammett Mustaine etc.... Absolutely epic flawless shredding
he is when i bring up the best and people ask me whos that
Jeff isn’t mentioned much amongst us mere mortals but in the metal world he is highly respected. Mustaine asked him to join Megadeth TWICE!!!
top of the top!
Love the melodic riffs in between hard ones. Great balance, great band.
Michael McLaggan sounds like 99 ways to die a little by Megadeth think Dave stole the idea a little
One of the greatest Metal figures ever. Talent, technique, soul, perseverance. God bless you, Jeff.
I like this style. Its like thrash metal mixed with AOR melodic rock. Perfect combo!
Great comparison. Never thought about it like that but you're totally right
That's the magick of Annihilator. Jeff is a huge Van Halen fan.
not exactly aor , but much more purely melodic american hard' n heavy metal , not that really radio friendly because still very heavy !!!
@@whytegroovin It’s more technical than raw Thrash Metal but not AOR, definitely agree with you.
