    Really like those CB performance pulleys. Pretty cool how you can see through the crank pulley when it's running and check for blow by. 👍

      It definitely helps monitor engine health, although sometimes you don’t want to see back there😂

    Nice, that Jimi Hendrix got a Christmas present! I agree with you, on your avoidance of a serpentine setup. Just more things that could potentially go wrong.👍 Have a great 2023, Mike!

      Thanks I really appreciate that. I still dub daily but haven’t had any vid-worthy efforts lately. Thanks for checking them out though

    Pretty sweet Mike. Engine looks good with that pulley. I plan to get the same one eventually but I have a few other parts that are priority right now. Engine sounds excellent! One more comment on the shims I learned is that the OG VW ones are thinner than the new ones produced today so even though the standard is ten that may not be the case when running these new aftermarket thicker shims. Keep dubbing.

    Hey Mike your engine looks and sounds fantastic. I love the billet upper pulley and the Santana lower one. I never realized about being able to see behind the crank pulley while the engine is running. I need to grab one soon. Hope your Christmas was great and Happy New Year 2023. I hope it's a great one for all of us!

    I remember back in the 90's they'd sell the chrome gen pulleys and they always broke and they were very cheap in every way.
    I finally spent 30.00 on a German pulley and never changed it again.

      Yeah man, we keep finding out what we can get away with and what just does not work. Those chrome pulleys are a nightmare😑

    Jimi sounding Great as usual! CB is quality for sure. What exhaust you running sounds great?

    • @bomberobus
      @bomberobus  Рік тому

      Thanks my friend. I bought that exhaust used and have never seen a brand name on it. It has dual glass packs though. It might be meant for a dune buggy because it hangs real low, but I’ve grown to like the way it takes up the space back there. It has sounded that way since I got it. IMHO the cheaper exhaust blows the packing out pretty quick and then it sounds real annoying real quick.

    Hey man pretty cool. That pulley is on my wish list. Couple of things. I’m not sure I trust the 10 shims thing. My theory is that 10 includes the shims that go behind the alternator where the cooling fan mounts. If you notice the stack of ten shims on the outside of your pulley seems tall. Hopefully you have enough threads exposed. Also another thing is that the new shims are thicker than the German ones so all things to consider even though the Bentley manual calls for 10 that did not take into account after market shims. I ended up using around 7 total but I need to check my videos to confirm. Hopefully I’ll be able to share that video in a couple of weeks. I posted a tech tip on it in my IG post. Happy new year bro and congrats on reaching 1k I’m close but still waiting.

      You’re right about the shim thickness! I didn’t measure them, but in my hand I could definitely tell they were thicker! I was thinking “great, another weird thing we have to deal with!”😂
      Nope, didn’t have enough threads and I barely made it to the parts store for a new belt. To be honest, I’m not even in love with that pulley.
      I’d love to see a conclusion regarding your 10 shim theory. Keep dubbin daily and slappin those curbs!

    Here's a link to the short I did on the shims. ua-cam.com/users/shortsiC-u1Swx3-k?feature=share

      Pretty sweet. I see that no one had a comment as wether or not the shims for the fan are included in the “10.” But yeah, as long as the fan depth is adjusted proper and the belt is snug, and the top pulley lines up with the crank pulley. Interesting point you make though, and likely to be proper.

      @@bomberobus yeah I agree with you. I would go with the three in back and make sure that is set properly so the fan doesn’t rub then in the front use your logic in terms of alignment and tightness. Only other thing is the threads exposed to all for proper torque when attaching the front pulley. As long as all that is correct that is what I would base my judgements on.
