Battlefield 5 right from its announcement was a controversial game for many reasons from its trailer to its developers basically calling players dumb because they didn't understand women fought in
world war 2 which is just not what people were complaining about well at least most people were not moaning about that but you will always have some people in these communities that take things to
the extreme... which never ends well.
So despite the controversies the developers and publisher EA doubled down on what they thought was the right thing.
When battlefield 5 launched it got destroyed by fans of the franchise, the majority of players called it a downgrade compared to battlefield 1 and when i played it in 2018 i had to agree but is battlefield 5 worth buying in 2022?
Has the war stories aged well and has the additional content thats been added like the pacific maps improved the game or just added more of the same in a game that was heavily disliked.
That's what im here to discuss especially after that disaster that was battlefield 2042.
So is Battlefield 5 worth buying in 2022? Has the various additional content improved Battlefield 5 making it worth a buy or you should you stay clear of Battlefield 5 forever?

Got this game about a month ago! I love it! Never played a BF game before, but it is awesome. Hid by a half track then jumped in and kept switching between the gun mounts. Got four of them before one was able to lunge mine me. Couldn't switch to the tail gun fast enough. Was EPIC!

I'll never understand why dice decided to not tell the real story instead of giving us this nonsensical story that belongs on Netflix. If you take six years to develop a Mode that's based off of real War Stories, yet decided to give us something that's Call of Duty light tells me that dice don't give two oz of shit about historical accuracy at all. Don't you think you should tell the real life stories of survivors of War? Because in my opinion their story deserves to be told.Oh I'm sorry i forgot this is dice they are a developer that is known for inaccuracy in everything.
That’s basically my thoughts as well, those intros are pretty damn incredible in making you feel the scale and damage of what war can do and then they throw it all away for nothing.
I’m not wrong in thinking that playing as that group of commandos sneaking in without taking on any enemy’s and sabotaging the facility would of been awesome?
Just building there characters while doing something some would consider boring for a game?
That would be historically accurate and I think those experiences would be perfect for the gaming format

I can't find the source, but the rumour I heard was that the SP was a last minute decision. They spend 6 months of rushing trying to get in done before launch. Explains why a lot of the missions feel the same.
I still love battlefield 5. The gunplay was great and all around enjoyable. I wish they would have finished the game. There was so much potential
The biggest disappointment for me wasnt the change of gun selection or the complex scope selection but they completely ignored the biggest events of WWII such as D-Day and all Western Campaigns

Dice always saves their games. It’s a shame to know that it wasn’t the game (battlefield 2042) that was bad, it was the actual concept. The base idea of the game is what was bad.
Regarding the historical accuracy ' the rewriting of history is being implemented in all aspects of life some people have noticed this other's only when it affects games' the world is changing.

definitely a great game. so many tanks and planes to choose, legendary weapons. but unfortunately too many hackers made the game less enjoyable almost on par to shit in terms of gaming experience, maybe just in certain region. bad gaming experience for my region (ASIA) ☹
i must say the flying in battlefield 5 is one of the best dice every pulled off. planes fly really nice and smooth!
I've played previous bf quite a bit but never bothered with 5 because of the blowback from fans. I started playing a couple days ago and the multi-player is amazing. I even went back and played 4 to compare and 5s game play for some reason is more fun for me
5 is like the perfect mix of causal and hardcore gameplay to me, if you know your angles your good but if you know how to rush enemies with cover your also good

I think we could go back and forth whether the disclaimer should have been stated before the missions related to real missions. I don't think playing as the real heroes would do them justice or be as immersive. Even animating them as NPC's wouldn't have made sense imho.

I’ve been an avid battlefield fan for years now. The majority of my gaming time is in FPS games. I only brought myself to buy bf5 because it was 5 bucks on steam. It might be me but I cannot get the hang of bf5. Of my many gripes, it just seems so arcadey where as bf3 and 4 had a much more… serious (for lack of a better word) feel. The power sliding, the recoil system, the gimmicks from the skins and such. It just doesn’t feel good. Couple this with always seeming like I get killed by enemies I cannot see.
Don’t get me wrong. It is gorgeous. It sounds incredible. And the set pieces are great. My two cents.
I could accept BF V story no problem, really. I just kept it as "a WW2 fiction" on the back of my head. I mean, games are never (or extremely rarely) 100% faithful to the original events. They need to make money, so they have to alter some things to be catchy, whether it's more michael bay-esque explosions, or... women? idk, but you get the point. If I wanted a truly historically accurate telling of an event, I'd go watch a documentary film or, god forbid, a damn book.
And honestly, the question of "why it needs to be this one specifically?" also don't hold water. War is overall a horrendous thing, which many died in the first place. Any story isn't a particularly good one, and maybe you can argue that altering any of them would be disrespectful to those who fell on the field. But as I said, if it's just a fiction from the start, then I guess it is fine.

BF5 is a tone of fun! Definitely fun and you gotta get past all the try hards who have been playing nonstop. It’s 100000 times better than warzone or call of duty. Unless you enjoy call of duty zombies from black ops series.

If it didn't need to be quite a bit historically accurate then fans wouldn't fart on Battlefield V. Look at Battlefield 1. We cherish it. Because it's stories aren't repetitive and don't seem outright historically inaccurate without losing anything in the gameplay sector.

battlefield V used to work for me. i used to be able to join games, now i only get Game Disconnected, it didnt meet the required latency thing. i deleted the game again

Currently downloading atm thanks to Game Pass! Haven’t played a Battlefield since 4 and I probably spent enough time in BF3 to be able to max prestige 2-3 times in COD comparably haha Was super stoked for BF2042 however I was on last gen during the announcement and up to the release and I swore I wouldn’t play it without being on current gen, which led to finding out it was terrible (fkn EA does it again smh) so I held off. Fast forward 6 months or so to last week, I upgraded to current gen finally with my Xbox Series S and here we are today with BF5 downloading!

Play enlisted, they have a D-Day map as well as Berlin enlisted is different from battlefield 5 but is similar in some aspects, oh also Enlisted is FREE

I'm honestly glad they didn't, and stuck with the theme of untold stories rather than the standard tropes and stories usually told in WW2 media surrounding major events. Including Operation Gunnerside and the Norwegian Resistance, Operation Dragoon and the French colonial soldiers, and even having a story from the perspective of German soldiers was a great idea.
@@nodforkiss Somehow regardless of what happened with WW2, that game and Cod Waw managed to feel like actual WW2 games unlike Vanguard and other modern WW2 games.

Most of my family extended family was directly affected by or killed in WW2. It boils my blood that people would muddle this part of history. When the events are retold the focus needs to be on accuracy unless the entire format is understood to be fictional.

Some definitely were but even for me I just found completely changing a true story and waiting till the end to say “oh yeah these people didn’t actually do this, it was some group of guys who we didn’t wanna put in because we needed a women chapter” just seems ridiculous because plenty of women served just not in that capacity.
Just think it would of been way cooler and more unique to choose a actual true story that women were apart of like the sniper or perhaps do something we’ve never seen before playing as a civilian in a country being bombed using battlefields incredible destruction while having to help the injured? Just something different.
That was really my only complaint for that war story and I’ll stick by it but I’m happy you enjoyed it since beta :D

Sad that you basically dissed "The Last Tiger" war story as it was considered one of the best War Stories to come out. It portrayed the German side of the conflict and it was a very emotional story to tell, even if it wasn't historically accurate. A lot of people really liked it. The complete opposite of Nordlys.
Then again, you liked the pacific maps, which in my opinion are the worst maps lol.
This game was TRASH when it came out. Utter trash. I genuinely hated it. The feel was off, the weapons were crap, the visuals looked empty and not rich. However today it is amazing. I have never seen a tunaround like it! So much fun. Very polished and stands up to anything in the genre. Definitely pick it up

personal opinion, this is the BEST shooter I've ever played. I love WW2 history and movies, games, etc. this games gunplay, movement, sound design, graphics and overall gameplay feel are second to none in my eyes. every match I play feels like a movie. love this game with all my heart

Look, as a serviceman I'm ok with them not having you play as the actual soldiers. Having to sacrifice accuracy for game play just wouldnt be respectful to the men and women imo. Making the levels play as the real ops went down wouldn't be fun. Because it's not fun. What they've done is give you a similar scenario and then tell you what real people did. I think it's the right call. 🤙🏽

Myself and all my friends agree that though dramatizing the stories is acceptable, not giving history and the real heroes their due credit is highly unattractive. Outside of spies and French resistance, or the Russian military, there were not many female combatants. That little obvious virtue signal seems “try hard” and honestly I like to peer into the past when playing a WW2 game.
I honestly think that the balancing in BF5 is horrible compared to other battlefield games.
too many cheaters in BFV. It’s beyond bad. I’ve reported cheaters that ADMITTED using aimbots, wall hacks, etc., and Dice/EA did nothing. Never again.

Some points why I did not buy Bf5:
1. The game is thematically weak as fuuuuk:
UI is not thematic. It is modern/minimalistic/sleek. It is arcade/CoD reward based with points, skulls and ribbons flying everywhere.
Too much focus on automatic weapons and modern sights.
Too many women. (Weird choice of game to start having them in.)
2. Spawning on squad mates is utterly shite design in a game with vehicles. (Since Bf2.)
3. Squad revival makes medic more redundant, in a game based on... 4 classes. The downfall of BF started once they went squad route over team/class route.
BF could have been so much more if they knew their damn niche and didn't chase CoD.

@@JacksGameReviews to be fair alot of media replaces the actual people in an event and changes things around. I mean for example Saving Private Ryan is based on a true event about the Niland brothers, but everyone involved is replaced, and they don't even mention the true event its based on like Nordlys does. They maintain the historicity of Operation Gunnerside in that it was an act of heroism by the Norwegian Resistance and do mention the actual heroes involved at the end. It's not like they changed it by omitting the Norwegian Resistance altogether and having British Paratroopers end up being the ones that do it or anything.
