A & C - this is a particularly smart approach to ‘colorwork’. So simple appearing so complex. The tiger design is beautiful too.

First of all, great shirt Arne ! Thank you for the refresher on duplicate stitch. I've used it many times for a little pop of colour , never thought of it as "painting with yarn " but i will now. Have a wonderful week, see you Wed

How do you block your hats? I knit an Arsenal team hat for my grandson, but he doesn’t have it yet because I am nervous about the blocking🥲

@@karenscott2359 I use a hand steamer for my knits and crochet. I dream them to soften up the yarn and then shape it. I don't use a lot of wool though, it's too expensive here in Canada. You should be able to find some good videos. Good luck !

Thanks for more tips on duplicate stitch! From the Quarantine Knit group & your UA-cam & the Arne & Carlos family I have come to follow knitters in many countries, and my heart is going out to those in Ukraine, and with concern for all in Finland & the Baltic nations too. . .

Beautiful mittens and hat with the stunning tiger design. The black & white mittens are a nice complement to the hat with the tiger face in duplicate stitch. I agree with Arne that having a contrast between the hat and mittens is preferable. So one has the tiger face, and the other has the tiger stripes graphics pattern. Not matchy-matchy, as pointed out.
Clemson University in my state in the USA has the tiger as its mascot. Think of what a beautiful and timeless graduation gift a set of these pieces would be for someone graduating from Clemson, LSU, or other school with a tiger mascot. They'd last a lifetime and you'd never tire of their classic designs, because they're more sophisticated than school-mascot items you see elsewhere online.

Love your tip on joining yarn ends without knots, using the same structure of wool that has allowed for yarn making.
I learned how to drip spin wool, when knitting, I always join my next skein of yarn by teasing about 1/2” of yarn at each end, then adding twist to both ends, and joining by rubbing ends between dampen fingers as the extra twist runs across those ends. With practice, you can make a continuous yarn that has t good joint strength. And you knitting fabric won’t have knots.

Hi Arne and Carlos! I’m new to your work but I’ve been enjoying watching sit and knit for a bit while knitting your Vidar sweater. Thank you for such a wonderful pattern book from Rowan. You can thank Cynthia and Barb at River City Yarns in Edmonton for putting me on to your work ! I look forward to working with more of your sweater patterns after I finish this one (btw this is my first sweater- a great first sweater pattern). I sat here trying to remember what we used to call duplicate stitch in 'my day'. I knew it was a place name, so went to look in my 1970s book. Swiss darning.......... that's what it was called. Presumably it was used in Swiss knitting. Very effective whatever it is called!

WOW!! Absolutely stunning❤️❤️❤️. I am trying the duplicate stitch for the fist time on a my first knitting hat. I’m worried because hats stretch. Should I make the duplicate stitches looser? I’m worried about when the person puts the hat on the stitch will be too tight. Should I make the duplicate stitch loose so it can stretch on the head? Any suggestions or input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us especially to a beginner like myself. Hope you both enjoy Thanksgiving🤗

UA-cam has a number of videos showing clear closeups of how to work the duplicate stitch in knitting. Here's a link to a video that not only has good camera close-ups with plenty of yarn color contrast, but also features an animation that clearly shows the anatomy of the duplicate stitch and the steps to work it.
