Hi what schedule would you recommend for a veteran athlete? I normally do bodyweight 2-3 times a week and sometimes kettlebells as well as regular dummy drills especially when I can't get a wrestling partner. Trying to balance recover wrestling and family life... many thanks
@@GarageStrength Yes I definitely want to compete when restrictions have been eased in UK. I guess I want to know what is the best type of training to do as it is often very conflicting on the internet. I compete in free style and rely more o upper body control due to knee problems and my body type, much appreciated
@@neillhughes8439 Nice! Given that schedule we would recommend trying to do 1 to strength sessions per week. 1 day lower body with Olympic Lifts and full depth squats with upright torso. And add an upper body day with a focus on grip training like rope work, shoulder presses, bench press, and tricep work. Hope that gives you some ideas and helps 👍
Hey it's me again: still waiting on those suggestions about the sled, the 2'' thick rope and now i need to add that dip stand to the mix. Seriously i need these implements for my garage gym. Let me know. Thanks.
That iso/curl walking exercise you called homers. Is that after homer simpson or homer from the iliad and the odyssey or am I way off and it's something else altogether?
When you talk about coordinating with the chest, back and tri-s with bench and pullup/chin up, is there a temporal aspect to this that is important? My son is doing pullups on chest day, but we often do it last. Is there a difference in EMG when super-set or done closer to one exercise vs another?
Here ya go Gwiz's Workout: 1A) Bench Press 5 x 5 (Increase weight each set), 1 x12 (less weight) 1B) Pull Ups 6 x 4 2A) Weighted Dips 5 x 7 2B) Curl Ups 5 x 6 3A) Alternating DB Bench Press 4 x 10 each side 3B) Sled Pull 4 x 1 3C) Homers (Standing Hammer Curls then walk) 4 x 10
I am going to ask this again: what rope is that? Where can i find it? Is it a Vulcan strength rope? Battlehouse fitness? I know Rogue doesn't have a 2'' thick rope, but the former two brands do.
Hey Dane, I have a question regarding how you program pressing movements in terms of volume to maintain Gwizs shoulder health. Just curious because I've had bicep tendonitis in my shoulder from combo of pressing and mat work/ rolling and want to know how to balance the two. I'm sure Nick's shoulders take a beating from all the wrestling over the years. Thanks as always Dane, much love bro!!
@@asdfghjkldfghjhgcgyuigfyui9792 Where did I say he isn't on steroids? Dont make assumptions, I was replying to the "he's not that strong, hes fine athletically"
@LightRay95 Im stronger than him and I dont weigh 260lbs. Same height too. I know other guys who are 5'9 who weigh less and are stronger. He is not weak but hes not that strong for his height yet is massive for a guy who wrestles every day. Youd need PEDs for that. Even kyle snyder is on gear
@@asdfghjkldfghjhgcgyuigfyui9792 Again as I said, mat strength and lifting strength are different, weak in what way? you can outlift him in lifting but he would toss you around the mat, similarly I know guys in kickboxing and in Jiu-Jitsu who can barely do 20 push ups or less with not a ton of upper body strength but can knock out people in 5 seconds or choke you put, different type of strength and endurance.

Actually named after one of our longtime clients lol
@@GarageStrength he must be epic. Lol
Lmao when I heard homers I thought of the episode where Homer does a shit ton of curls with one arm and becomes jacked in one arm only
Are you selling your Reflex Fitness dip press stand? I need one for my garage gym. If not, do you know where can i still find one?

Is there a chance as an aspiring amateur MMA fighter (hopefully when this corona thing gets better) and sports geek to spend a vacation in your gym?

My best theory is probably proper recovery and sleep. He probably gets cryotherapy, deep tissue massages, and other things on top of sleep.
How often should a wrestler lift weekly?
Make a vodio on after and befor wrestling session workout
Stay tuned we will be releasing inseason training for wrestling later this month 💪
Which diameter is this bench press barbell? It is not standard 29mm power bar or 28 mm weightlifting bar.
We use a fat bar which is 2 inches thick.

Wrestling/Grappling strength is different than just weightlifting strength though there are some carry overs.
