With the kettlebell curl, are your shooting for high reps because it’s a difficult exercise to go heavy because of the challenging grip or is it because of what it’s trying to simulate, that being the collar tie grip etc and therefore needing more endurance with the exercise?

Makes sense! We have our wrestlers also do weighted pull ups. We've gotten really good results from them.
