Slingshots are in no way comparable to a sling.
I agree. Slingshots is not an ancient weapon, as it requires elastics.
Slingshots are toys, slings are weapons. The sling is just two strips of leather connected to a leather pouch containing a stone. The slinger held the ends of both strips and whirled the stone over his head, then released one of the strips at exactly the right time to hurl the stone at the target. Expert slingers could hit birds in flight, and the stone hit with the force of a 45-caliber bullet.
Not sure why these two got combined, they have little to do with each other....
i agree that it is totally different weapons, however slingshots are not (always) toys.
They come in different versions some of which are deadly weapons.
Big difference between a sling and a child's sling shot
0:26 That's not how they were used... the wooden magazines were not swapped out, but constantly reloaded by feeding from the top -- so it could fire literally until you ran out of bolts.
There are significant naming and description errors in the opening minute of this. Perhaps some more in depth research would have helped.
A very interesting video. Thank you! Humans have worked hard to fight and harm each other since the beginning of time!!! AND we still are!!!!..................
On the Gladius, the Legionairs would carry them on the right side, and the Centurions would carry them on the left side. In close formation it was advantageous to have the sword right so it could not entangle in the shield, or hit the man to the left with the scabbard while you tried a cross body draw. This was also handy if you the enemy pressed against your shield, leaving you no room to draw it easily. As its a short sword, drawing it from the right is no problem.
It eases my mind that the content creator isn't getting paid to produce this gradesschool level analysis.
The thumbnails in this channel are hilarious. 😂😂
i cant belive he thinks they were refering to a rubber sling shot .
Khopesh Dual Purpose tool for reaping and fighting enemies often seen with the thresh in the Pharoes statues showing their power over the harvest and enemy
I would hate to face anyone wielding any of these weapons! Most of them are downright frightening! 😊😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤❤
I bought a leather sling at a sci-fi convention like the one at 17:05 and got pretty darned good with it! I could hit the target (tree trunk) from a good distance away even. Thought I could carry something like it if I ever got caught out in the wild, for nailing squirrels and rabbits. Lost it some time later, sadly enough, but I'd love to find one again and re-learn my technique.
Make one yourself. It's pretty easy to make.
at 19:54, it wasn't MIT, But the MythBusters, as can be seen (the guy on the left with the White shirt is Jamie from the MythBusters!!).
A slingshot is not the same as a sling.
Maybe stop using AI generated images for your thumbnails. They’re misleading
It gets annoying not seeing what I the thumbnail in the actual video
Yeah it’s annoying not seeing the thumbnail in the actual video
Cry about it. Get with the times, old man.
@@PartyhatRS Lol, I'm in my mid 20s... It misleads people about what's in the video.
Plus, I think I hear your mom calling you because you p1ssd the bed again kid.
That's the idea. Adding comments to the comments section only promotes the video though..🤦🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️
Peep the Elden Ring shot @ 26:00 😂
Is the narrator, the Simple History guy?
Same voice as 'Top Fives'.
I hope you speak on the chinese multi crossbow... they shot many arrows.
You know what beats ancient Indian weapons ? Muskets at 50 paces .Or longbows ,even a Gladius will do it.
0:32 that's not a Catapult that's a Trebouchet by 0:42 that's a Catapult. The Trebouchet reach far more and had a heavier payload....
A trebuchet is a type of catapult. You're saying the equivalent of "that's not a gun, that's a rifle." Stop being cringe.
@@TheGr8one1022 you have no idea how a Trebouchet works. Nor everything you can throw something is a Catapult or maybe for you the the greek Palintona and the Roman Balliste or Scorpion is also a Catapult and not Torsionpowered heavy Crossbow....so what👍😂👋🙏
It’s great except for the weakness in selecting a target. But it’s”sho’ good‘ nuff”
5/14 Greek.Not bad.
From those that came down from space and manipulated us as Human we have been killing each other ever since in the beginning there was no such thing
Centurions wore their swords on the left
Greekfire. Its composition is still unknown today.
I just love this channel!
Tell me what BCE is again? I looked it up in the Gregorian Calendar and I could only find BC. Are you using a different calendar?
BCE stands for Before Common Era.
@@BoazLarson-jj4pg , which era or epoch is common in our geologic history and why and how many hundreds of millions of years are there in this common era?
CD is akin to Anno Domimi, or the birth of christ.
CE, sorry

Don't bother explaining to the clown.
They're just another Bible buffoon.
Can anyone show ANY evidence about URUMI to be effective? it is "TOLD" able to kill a horse in one blow, butI've never seen ANY video this weapon cut anything into half, not even a pineapple.
So, I regularly see it on such lists, but I must say it is a weirdo weapon with urban legend efficiency. Prove it's efficiency!
its a weapon that was used in the in the southern parts of India. which is one of the last weapons to be mastered in kalaripayattu. this particular martial art was battle proven during that times the martial art still exists but the teachings have be lost in time because of the foreign invasions. but unfortunately i don't think there is anyone who can wield it to the maximum efficiency so it will be hard to find a video now but maybe there is someone out there
8:56 Why are most of those Roman Pila (Pl of Pilum)? -.-
RUBBER POWERED SLINGSHOTS WERE NOT AN ANCIENT WEAPON. THIS GUY IS A FAKE.
bro stop using the ai generated ahh thumbnails
lol I have noticed that lately too I agree
Cry about it. Get with the times, old man.
#getthefuckoftheinternet
@PartyhatRS the times are it's against YT ToS to use misleading thumbnails. Read more!
Take that
What about the Hwacha?
Civ V
WTF is up with showing modern slingshots (which require elastic) instead of true slings, which don't? Afraid someone will make one?
I've seen someone who was good with a sling. Dunno how accurate he was (this was close to 60 years ago) but I wouldn't wanna get hit. Don't try this at home.
You Do understand, every time you use the term 'BCE', you're still referencing Christ?... Your lies are Very easily revealing and easily recognized/
Don’t you mean Jebus 😂😂😂😂
Wait.. it doesn’t mean Before Christ Existed?
@@JLRpartners When did the common era start?
Spreading love doesn't need to involve the dating system we use ❤
The common era still started with Christ, the modern word just doesn't like "The year of our lord", so they changed it.
The death ray may have fallen out of favor because cloud cover or rain might make it fully ineffective.
Plus the Mythbusters proved it was just a fantasy like decades ago. There NEVER was a death ray.
7:17 I've severe doubts, that anyone in Continental Europe would use the strange Empirial measurement... feet? inches? eff off!
8:30 Sorry-- can't let that stand either... Shortbows have a far better rate of fire. It's the equivalent of a carabine (for some Robin Hoods maybe even a sniper).
@ Top Fives
Sorry to say that I've just watched a video where they have basically ripped your video off, they've changed it abit and obviously used a bit for the speech, but yeah disgusting how they've just used your vid|I as if it's there own.
Once again I'm sorry that these idiots feel they can get away with it.
Great content and I love also that it's actually your voice been used and not some computer generated voice, just makes it so much better.
Thankyou, peaceout...
Ehh... this one was made almost a year before this one, and it sure seems like the inspiration for this one. Dang. ua-cam.com/video/wGyBvTLvVEU/v-deo.html
Bad on Polybolus and slingshots which are modern and different from slings. Great on Atl-atl illustrations. You need better researchers.
I highly doubt the effectiveness of some of these weapons, especially the Urumi, the Bagh Nakh and, above all, the Archimedes Death Ray😅
(Mythbusters pretty muched proved that the Death Ray doesn't work - not even close🤣)
Mythbusters proved that a bunch of people holding mirrors are not very effective at burning ships. The device Archimdes invented looked more like a parabolic antena with a lens instead of a TV receiver.
BC, You lost me at BCE.
this AI has a few problems, but good.
Even with a glitch or two, this is still incredibly well written.
Nope.
gladius is short sword and it was 60cmm to 70cm, 90cm is a long sword our a spata.
only the macedonians used the sarissa.
you have a greek falcata identified as a kopesh, they are not the same not even similar.
that thing is a trebuchet.
that is not a greek catapult, a greek catapult was a balista, that design is an hollywood interpretation of a roman second centurty design called an onager, that is specificaly a medival based as romans didn't use a boal but a sling.
the polibolos was heron of alexandria, the balista was dionisios.
do better research next time, this was embaracing.
Palestinians used slings against occupation soldiers, Though it doesn't achieve any goal but it was a weapon to vent the frustration from their aggression.
Isn't it time to finally join the international world where the metric system is simply used? A launch has gone wrong before because they did not take into account the fact that some people continue to stick to local customs and sizes. Like this video, which is clearly meant to be serious, but then all that research and prep work is ruined because they hired some elderly carpenter to tell them how big those things were.
Of course it is unclear which measuring system the good man uses because one person's feet are not the same as those of another.
It may well be that you grew up with those old, run-down friends, I grew up when they were still inventing the computer and mobile phones did not yet exist. But wouldn't it be absurd to still communicate with the fanfare?
But that's really what you're doing...apparently afraid of what wasn't even the future a hundred years ago.
Grow up and learn what the metric system means... a new world will open up for you.
They did their homework..
even an AI could come up with more accurate information than the stuff here... also, talks about catapaults, shows trebuchets and some fake prop mangonel looking device....
The sling shot cramp is absolutely ludicrous . I will probably never watch anything you post due to the ridiculous nature of the video
Is that like swimmers cramp? I didn't watch the video
@@johndeans1469 without the "m".
Archimedes death ray never existed, that is a myth.
British longbow just cheap nothing more
Worst ever thumbnail - not gonna bother watching the nonsense
Go ask the Australian aborigines and they will tell you that they invented this. The same with the boomerang. They are very very good at lying about these.
0:55 Totally the wrong Dionysios depicted -- didn't you find it odd, that a Greek pre-christian engineer wears a robe decorated with crosses? I'm quite sure you got the bishop with the same name there... not a minute in here (please research more carefully!)
5:35 Bagh Nakh --> Bog Knock? Americans are weird...
greeks 🙃
