I'm playing 2 handed solo. When I got to this quest I went 3 handed as I wanted to keep playing the characters I started with. I really wish my wife would play this with me. But I understand that not everything is for everyone. I have enjoyed your playthrough of Descent Legends Of the Dark so far. Cheers.
Okay, it's safe for me to resume watching your Descent play through. After watching the first quest and the start of this one I knew that this was a game that I wanted to play, and I didn't want to see any spoilers so I stopped watching when you get to starting the new quest. But now I'm four scenarios into my play through and can now enjoy watching the rest of your campaign.
I LOVE THR 3D TERRAIN. There is no issue with set up. I REALLY enjoy setting up the newly discovered rooms land's and other stuff. This game and these playthroughs are fantastic. Rock on and Cheers
Just in the past month I played for the first time Mansions, LOTR and this game and I'm liking Descent the best. Enjoy the card flipping, fatigue management and the uniqueness of each character.
I absolutely love the 3-D stuff, and the ‘scene changes’ during the game. As you said, the surprise of it was so much fun! Great play through, learning a lot by watching. You’re so lucky both of you like to play! I definitely need the solo modes in my games.
I use metal coins from Tiny Epic Pirates to keep track of my actions. I just place 3 coins near each hero board and move them onto the hero board as I take the actions. This is something I do with lots of games. Cheers.
Dang. I really am enjoying reliving the playthrough through your video. I love the part right before the floor dropped. It's so cool.
I'm watching the streams after I play the quest. I really enjoy watching you both try to figure out what to do. Occasionally I'm yelling at the video. No don't do that or do that. 😆
i have been playing Descent 2nd ed, Imperial assault, Mansions of madness, lotr journeys and now this^^. Some of the games mentioned comes with the 1 vs all mode, and a thick scenario campaign book. All of these games are way more enjoyable with the app, atleast from my gaming "group" who have been playing boardgames together for 20 years now. So app games is not a problem. We still play a lot of other games that does not use an app, but for these games, the app works great.
Skills cannot be changed during a quest. New skills are unlocked during the quest but not used until new quest.
I know this semi got answered but if you look at the Runewars miniatures you can get ideas for how the different factions look.
I use this way of thinking on reading reviews, if I'm interested I read the some reviews starting at like 4 or 5 and go all the way to 8, and i never read reviews that have stuff like. this game is good. this goes for video games and board games.
Thanks for the playthrough! Not for me and my group, but that's how it goes. It seems an overly long slog for what is accomplished in a session/mission. The app and game component interaction feels to me like you're playing Yahtzee on your phone but rolling actual dice and plugging in the numbers to the app. i realize they needed to make the dice a physical component because without them it would just be an app game, but the inclusion of the components feels forced and designed to sell what would be $5 app as a $150+ board game or sorts.
yes, I do see that in the play through.. at least in Mansions of Madness some puzzles are part of the game. and nowhere the same price of almost 200$
Isn't that true of basically every board game? *looks at TTS* yep, that *is* true of every board game.
Anyways, the app (which would never be just "$5" - be real) is used to accentuate the experience, not BE the experience
I watched episode 1 partially live and now I'm trying to catch up so I can watch live again.
Great game for solo or 2 players!
Hello! Nice vid. Everything well explained but still want to make sure that you can roll dices on 3:46:38
I mean; is not a test is it?
couple qs: so, I have a smaller table. Can we disassemble the part of the map that we have picked through and moved on from as we build new parts of the map? or is the past map still important?. Second, if we wanna break in the middle of the scenario, can we pause the app, and the app can show us the configuration we last left with?
The app should save on a regular basis, and you should also be able to save it yourself at any point of the scenario. It looks like the map can be taken apart rather easily, so I guess you can lift off the parts you have already cleared, and maybe place them to the side, or on a side table?
If you need to run back to that place etc. You will need it the app tells you when to pick up pieces. Get a bigger table 3x3 is the play area some say 3x5
you do not even need to put pieces on the table, just roll the dice for encounters and the character sheets and cards.. it is true..you do not need the table for anything
@@mikem4432 i would say that is not an accurate observation; you need the board for mini placement. That then determines if ranged attacks are possible. When heroes get moved by in game effects. Not to mention the tactics of hero turn sequence and benefits from being next to or not other characters. AND for those who paint these minis are amazing and will provide almost as much enjoyment time as the game itself.
@@mikem4432 You would need some photographic memory to pull that off since the app doesn't show / know where the heroes or enemies are positioned beyond their starting spots..
The MSRP is high. 175$ is a lot of money. Other than that it looks ok. Will wait till the second round of release at a more reasonable price, if not, I can skip it. I do like app games like the FFG Mansions of Madness
Ok got a few official rulings from BGG where Devs replied.
1. Consumables unless they are specials are only good for that adventure if gained. If you learn to craft and craft them or they are special (show in your inventory after a quest) they will show in your in game inventory to choose from for a new quest.
2. Skills gained during a adventure are unlocked not gained to use immediately they will be available on your next quest with that hero.
3. Shifting during a move in hindering terrain other than water will cause damage or poison or scars once per square shifted. Also Explore Tokens placed do not prevent damage so moving on a pile of rubble to climb out of a pit trap still costs you 2 damage.
I still play HeroQuest - - but I must say that your playthrough might actually pique my interest...
You mentioned Discord what is the link?
Hi Jamos

bring back your books, please
Just got to your rant about rating before the game is out and as bad as all that is, you're forgetting one demographic. There is a large group of people who rate based on payments. I'm an indie author and this practice is rampant on Amazon, I'm inundated with payment requests. I pay $1000 or something for 50 5 star reviews. The clearinghouse then pays college students and what not $10 each for 5 star reviews. Then there is the competitor/political/social negative ratings to take into account as well. It's a mess. Love the channel, the slow pace of real play rather than rush through for a vid. I'll be back.
Do you like this better than Gloomhaven so far?
For me its apples to oranges. Gloomhaven is a puzzly game where you try to keep cards and play them to complete the dungeon correctly. This is more of a dungeon crawl with some luck and app driven. I like it but cant compare it to GH as its totally different.
@@jamos5710 that makes sense to me. I enjoy puzzles way more than stories and random happenings but really the two are trying to accomplish different things.
@@brandtsanderson4665 I am a fan of a puzzle game if it is presented that way GH was presented as a rpg which I think it’s not that is why Iam not a big fan of it.
@@jamos5710 oh. Where did you first see it presented? I watched Rahdo do the KS preview years ago and always thought of it as a dungeon crawler puzzle. Never heard anyone describe it as an RPG
@@brandtsanderson4665 misrepresented by people on BGG mostly who compare it to a dungeon crawl rpish game. To me it’s just a puzzle what two cards do I play to get to this objective etc. no real thematic play in fact using a ability and burning it sounds more like a Deck building game with minis.
