    Please do a detailed "submitting your portfolio" - how to submit (behance or website) or even pdfs. Show few examples or maybe critique few. It would really help many of us in this design community! Thanks!

      Did you watch the Summer School streams? We covered portolio submission tips and resumes. If you need more, I suggest Emily's "My first portfolio" series to see what the contents of her portfolio are.
      Maybe we can do more.

    A lot of these tips feel like common sense, but not even I use it all the time. I love the tip to customize your portfolio/resume to the company. Once I did that I started getting actual replies from studios and institutes. These videos make me excited to submerge myself in design culture at school.

      Plus they could've gone into more depth about what is considered "outdated" work; because that can mean a lot of different things.

    • @thefutur
      @thefutur  6 років тому +1

      Outdated = does it hold up today? Does it match the standards and trends? If not, take it off.

    I agree with the cover letter, I would like to be more casual and creative when I write a cover letter. Just let them know what you have done and what you are capable of and perhaps put in some fun stuff about yourself.

    Great advices too. I also like the change you made in the outro music. That 5th note of that sort of violin part. Minor change, but makes it nicer in my opinion. Thanks for this video

    I also think everyone should try to keep their portfolio updated even if they are not nescesarily looking for a job? I'm starting to work on mine again just to try some new things out just so I don't stagnate.

    Although I loved the tips about sending different websites or different ( specific ) website pages - I’m not sure how that implements in real life. Would you make the job know that it was specifically created for them or you do it in a more subtle way where you curate your current website to show off the work you think is particularly relevant?

    If you could put a max number on how many creative pieces to share on your portfolio what would that be? I have 8-9 pieces plus brand identity work. These are pieces that I’ve gotten positive responses from and I’m most proud of.

    • @thefutur
      @thefutur  6 років тому +2

      If they're all amazing, then no max. We really only need to see 1-3 projects at the top of your site to validate whether or not you're a good fit. It takes us 10 seconds to scan to contact or leave.

    I will be graduating with my degree in 3 months and I have zero experience with any internships in the actual field. I also have minimal freelancing work. I want to commit full time once I graduate (I work in nursing to support myself) but how can I go about that ?

    • @thefutur
      @thefutur  6 років тому

      Just apply. It doesn’t matter if you aren’t a student anymore.

    Hello, I’m a student in my last semester, I want to put in my portfolio freelance work and internship works but both of them are still confidential from the companies I worked at, I am only able to show them during interview. Should I just talk about them in my resume? Or should I put them in my website but password protected? It’s my best work and yet I can’t show it freely. What would you recommend?
    Cheers

    • @thefutur

      Do what you suggested. Mention on your resume and password protect on your site. Then elaborate in person.

    hi Chris, just a quick question if you have a course or a product i could subscribe to about what to ask clients when they contact me about brand design and i want to steer the conversation to strategy etc. because i think it could really help me help my client a lot if i know more about their brand, and its where i am struggling.

      Not many do. But there have been some of prop themselves up, make it seem like they've done more, so that they could get a job. Of course they get sniffed out and let go pretty quickly.
