    Do you just email your logo designs to your client? Do you have problems with clients asking for excessive revisions in branding projects? Do your clients tend to change their minds after you show your logo designs?
    In this video, Ben talks about the way he presents logo designs and identity projects to clients for the sole purpose of getting great work approved. Ben breaks the branding presentation down slide by slide and covers a few prerequisites you need to have in order to present logo designs like he does for Blind.

    I still can't believe how this video got only 440k views in over two years! Like, what are these young designers looking for on the internet? Man!
    This video is gold and could easily be sold as a 200 dollar online course. I'm dead serious.
    I watch it everytime I work on a big logo project. This is like the 10th time. When the designing is done and presentation is on the horizon I always come back (just like now) to get focused and reminded on what matters, because you forget some things when doing other stuff beside logos.
    Kids wanna charge big for a logo but don't learn enough how to justify the price tag. My logos are maybe no better than average, but I do all the things beside designing (including a great presentation), and with all that I can charge 5-7 k without negotiating. That's why this video is so great.

    So true about that ego boost.
    Once I presented a logo to a client in a beachflag and billboard mockup and they never thought about it to show their new brand that way.
    So my next job was to create that billboard and beachflag.

    This is great advice and methodology. Looking back on the identity freelance work I have done in the past, I realized that sometimes being too transparent can also be a bad thing. You want to include the client in the creation process but don't forget that you are the professional that they hired for a reason. don't be afraid to guide the direction of the project and give your honest professional opinion and show how that would be of benefit to the client in the end. Love that this video lists the slides step by step, and helps to eliminate the prospect of scope creep.

    This is the first time I EVER write a comment on UA-cam but I just feel like I have to.
    I usually open like 4 tabs randomly from videos I would like to watch within the next hour. So I did, and I was watching "I Wish I Knew This When I Started: Logo Design". The second one was this and I was just completely shocked to realize the same guy on the previous video was this one. I even went to the other video again to check his face and name just to be sure.
    It is amazing what The Futur did to him. In the first video, he was just shy and with low self-steem, telling the story of how he used to charge only US$50.00 for a logo. Now, I see this amazing guy who knows what he's talking about, with tons of confidence and find myself learning so much from him. Now he looks like he could charge US$10,000.00 for a logo.
    The Futur, you only know how to do magic with people. Thank you for all you give us. Watching you is way better than any school or institute.

    I have gained a lot from this. I like the fact that you have tailored it in a way that the presentation is short, gives the clients value which influence them to give honest feedback in return.
    I used to only present the logos but from now, I will be following the 5 steps of presentation which includes the mock ups. I cant' forget the one million dollar dude that should be the cost of design.
    All my queries are answered lemme prepare on hitting my presentation off the park. Salute Sir Ben, all the way from Kenya.

    I have watched this in 2020. Well, I've had issues presenting logos to clients,
    A friend of mine once called me a dictator as I always presented one option of Artwork, Be it logo, poster or business card e.t.c. to my client(s).
    I started presenting the same logo design in 3 different versions but with a few tweaks and this gave my clients the sense of choice.
    I don't really ask for feedback or comments, as Like you have said. "I send mail or Whatsapp" Am changing that effective immediately.
    This has been useful to me.

    • @lesterjonathans
      @lesterjonathans 2 роки тому

      I am quite that dictator too, And What i do nowadays is share sketches before hitting illustrator then tweak the final one into 3 related ... Plus, I share jpg in black and white and a mockup that best suites the brand.
      I don't ask for feedback either, Because worse you do bring it, You have to explain properly ( Haha )...
      I love watching this video, Will create this kind of presentation according to Mr. Ben Barnes and share on my Behance...

    Ben Burns, thank you, thank you, one thousand times thank you. This is the best christmas gift I got.
    PS:
    I know asking "did we miss our mark completely?" is meant to break the ice. But doesn't that give the impression of being insecure of your work and results? wouldn't it be better to show more confidence at the end of the presentation, and breaking the ice in another way?

    • @thefutur
      @thefutur  6 років тому +7

      i'm with you on the icebreaker comment. i guess we all have to come up with a line that works for us. i think when he's staying that, he's being sarcastic (because we usually over deliver) that it becomes obvious.

    • @wisherwatch

      Yes, underpromise - overdeliver. Simple but a robust technique that wins.

    Thanks Ben! I'm starting my design career and one question I have had around presenting my work is "what are the right questions to ask for when reviewing my work?". Guiding the feedback towards the user persona and asking if the work moves us closer to our goal are two insights I will definitely be keeping in mind on my next presentation.
