Nice guide! Seems way more usefull than the other Archer guids/tips which are more like a "use w/a/s/d to move" kind of guides. Also nice hitrate in your match. 4 Things I would add: 1: If you need to refill your shots, just jump forward right before pressing the "use button" to only have a short moment where you stand still as you will always get targeted if in sight of other archers. Just make sure that your cursor keeps on targeting the ammo-chest. 2: When you get forced into melee, use a jab before switching to your meleeweappon. That seemed to be the most reliable method. (And yes I know it is fun to dodge the atack and hit em with the bow afterwards). 3. When using the warbow: When letting the arrow fly, it first goes a little up before going down. So when enemys are really close, aim for the neck to give a headshot! Also when you shot enemys below you, aim for the feet if they run into your direction to get more hits. 4. As for Stamina management: Crouching doesn't let you regenerate stamina. So when refilling amonition and you don't want to do the jumptrick, you have to stand to get stamina. If it is already full crouch down to not get hit so much. 4.1 Also try to avoid jumping as much as possible as you want to shot as much as possible and don't want to wait for your stamina to get back up. Greetings from an archer main :)
Thanks so much for the tips! Not many good archer players out there haha. I have 1000 kills on bow and 800 on war bow :) 1. Agreed. Good idea. I normally just crouch and use cover to break line of sight when refilling or bandaging up. 2. Agreed. Makes sense. Most of the time I try to maintain 20-30m distance so I normally never get into melee if I position correctly. 3. Agreed. Applies all projectile weapons as far as I can tell. 4. I didn't know that. Thanks. 4.1. Somewhat agree. There are times to jump such as when retreating and charging up a shot. Jumpshots are important too sometimes. You should see my hit rate with the regular bow with no hud :)
Being able to lead your target and see where your enemy will be is an art. Like when the target is fighting someone else, seeing when they will lunge to attack, shoot where they will be. Many people make fun of archers but really good archers are few and far between. People also dont realize how much damage the archers do when they take off 30-50% of an enemy's health before the enemy even engages in melee.
i still have trouble with that, when i target someone who is fighting my teammate, half of the time i hit my teammate instead of the enemy because so many unpredictable movements are happening. i still have to practice my leading and predictions
Everyone seems to hate the Archer's but damn its so funny to play as one. It turns my serious game playing to a Comedy game lol. Oh and there are some Archer's that definitely know how to Melee.
Some good tips. Here’s my 50 cents on Lionspire archer tactics. The ram defence: The left tower has perfect line down to the ram users, plus next to ammo box. When the gate falls good to get some shots off through the open gateway, usually easy kills as often wounded are there. It can hold up the push as well with some melee. It’s best to help team on Plaza by staying in the capture area, not hanging outside it like your doing, a classic selfish archer move. Easter egg; The pick-up able golden rooster is hidden on the edge of the plaza in some boxes, toward the steps to an ammo box. Maybe learn to combine attack and jab when your in melee, jab is a archers friend👍
Hey klevin, new chiv player here. One tip I have come across as an archer is to stick with the others archers. What are your thoughts? I’m enjoying your tutorials and learning quite a bit that I think I would miss just by gaming without watching these. Thanks!
Welcome :) That’s a good idea. Even better if you can coordinate fire and share brasiers. I’d imagine 4 friends all on archer would be a menace to the server.
Even if you perfectly lead shots you still miss, ive seen enemies turning or stopping literally the moment i release my arrow. If anything you also need to understand the pshycology of your targets. Which is mostly just guessing.
Need to set yourself up for success. Not every shot will land. That’s just the reality. Maintaining good distance and shooting in enfilade gives the best results.
Okay now here's where you're wrong. Archers did in fact devote most of their life to training. Understand that most archers were actually more strong and more vascular than knights. The bow weight during that time had to be well over 100lbs to pierce armor and be able to shoot at a safe range without hurting your own side. Also the fact that you don't live a long life fighting. Not important but just a little fun fact. Once Crossbows came out the skill threshold to be effective reduced dramatically and then the noob archer would apply.
Yeah archers (the English were known for their laws and policies which encouraged archery) trained for most of their life. It often warped their muscular-skeletal system and they were very strong. I reckon they used 150-200Ibs and from watching Todd’s workshop that would go right through mail and possibly through thin parts of plate. Agreed crossbows lowered the requirement to be a good ranged fighter. Don’t remember what I said in the video because it was a while back but I completely agree with you.
For longbowman aim for low hp enemies to get easy kills. Look for enemies covered in blood, crawling on the ground, healing, or running away. For crossbowman place your banner near choke points to rack up a ton of points by healing your treat. Just like longbowman, aim for low hp enemies. For skirmisher try to find resupply crates and spam javelins. Hope that helps.
I have some very high kill archer games in my Chivlary playlist. Had a very strong skirmisher game on stream today too on Thayic stronghold which I will upload later tonight. I don’t play overwatch anymore though if you want exactly hanzo. I do play tf2 and can use bow.
I think skirmisher is harder to play, especially for beginners. I think bowman isn't great because the first bow sucks but once you get the war bow gg.
Quite often I report players for abuse + harrassment + put them up for a Vote Kick for abusing archers etc. There are some real toxic wankers out there.
Living rent free in someone's head means that you bother them so much they cannot stop thinking about you. In this instance, archers bother some players so much that they will go out of their way to grief them. This is funny because imagine being upset over a video game. This is sad because these people have nothing better to do than grief others. Considering the type of game this is, Chivalry probably caters to an older audience and males. Grown men getting upset over a video game is simultaneously funny and sad but probably pitiful. I understand ranged combat is a contentious topic but ruining someone's experience because they are simply playing the game isn't right. Don't hate the player hate the game.
The fact that the closer you are, the more damage it does is REALLY dumb and doesn't make sense.. it should be opposite... The farther you are, the more it is..
I think damage is based on how much you charge your shot. I don't think there's damage fall off. I recommend archers stay within a minimum effective distance of 30 meters to maximize the chance of landing shots while staying out of danger. The further you are away from targets the more variability (e.g. arrow travel time, target movement, etc) gets involved that can make you miss.

You can use the enemies and your friends braziers as well 😉
There is only one technique every archer should employ: clicking the uninstall button.
I use it to annoy people like you. Lmao.
Omg
Nah the uninstall is for the beyblade technique

I always pick up a stray longsword and surprise people when I run my quiver out. Nobody expects a archer to melee well
Always look first a chance to upgrade!

You can also do a jump shot. Really useful, when there is a lot of allies covering the view. Or when enemy hides behind something.
Agreed jump shots are good

It's so difficult using the ranged on controller and unfortunately I can't m&k 😭
I tried playing controller for a while and it's much harder than m&k imo. That's even with steam custom button mapping haha.
@@klevinduck I have xbox so I haven't a choice. I just discovered the game like 2 days and it's soooo fun

wish we still had the spike trap
Did longbowman use to have spike traps? I must have not been around for that.

Thank you!
It’s crenellations to be more specific
That’s what I was looking for exactly! Many thanks.
my best guide would be
1.Pray to your target.
2. knock your arrow, count to three
3. release.
guarantee 70% hit lmao.
70% of the time it works every time lmao
Based on you're levels bro you must have thousands of hrs my goodness it has taken me to get archer lvl 18 like 200hrs
I have around 400 hours and archer is my least played class haha
How do you do arrow cam on ps5?
Try L3 + square
Thanks

Minimal training? English longbow men trained from very young
Yes and it was mandated. Their armies were often 9 archers to 1 nobleman.
We don't need or want more archers in the lobbys.
Archers make the game more dynamic, they pull aggro which spreads out the field of battle
Shooting arrows is overrated. Bow melee mains are based
Ultimate guide - don't do it. The end.
