Great songwriter, David Gates and BREAD. Have their greatest hits album (full of gems) Everything I Own is very touching - am sure someone else will have mentioned that. Great reaction.🤙
I think this is one of the most beautiful love songs of the 70s. Nobody could have sung this better than David Gates. I've heard a few people try and fail.
You know, between Bread and the Carpenters I feel like I'm floating on a cloud. Peaceful is the only word you can use. After living through the 70's, I miss them so much.
"Most beautiful love song I've ever heard; that's a bold statement that you throw out there"... yet millions will nod emphatically in agreement... it captures a feeling that might exist only during a certain phase of our life, but is so powerful and defining. Who captures it as well as David's writing and voice do??
Oh WOW!!! The nostalgia goosebumps and hair-raising with this!!! I was about 13 when my brother would play Bread songs on repeat for hours, and I would listen as well. He would especially play Everything I Own repeatedly when his high school girlfriend (that he was intending to marry) broke up with him suddenly. As others have said, there are others you must listen to: Everything I Own, Baby I’m-a Want You, Make It With You, It Don’t Matter to Me. Pretty please!! 💜
As a writer, I can see how the poetic lyrics would interest you. Lots of people laugh at the band name Bread, but then end up in a trance from the music, lyrics, and voice 😊 Great reaction!
That's so true. I don't think I've ever seen a Bread reaction before. They were SO huge in the 70s. But I don't see them referenced much anymore. Once on The Voice a few season back. LOL
Bread has a deep book… you can’t go wrong… Diary, Everything I Own… and the rest. Also, if you are looking for a poet songwriter, check out Dan Fogelberg. Great react!!!!
This band has been one of my favorite bands for many years. Their love songs can melt your soul. I love their songs. You should check out their songs "Lost without You" and "Diary". Diary breaks my heart every time I hear it but I still love it. Also Let Your Love Go", "Too Much Love" and "Down On My Knees.
Really bringing back my youth. A few more *Bread* essentials - *Everything I Own* , *Baby I’m a Want You* and *Make It With You* should get you started. And as long as you’ve started down this road how about trying a few *America* songs - *Sister Golden Hair* and *Horse With No Name* . Then try a little *Three Dog Night* for good measure - *Mama Told Me* , Never Been To Spain , *Black and White* , *Shambala* , *One* , Old Fashioned Love Song and *Joy to the World* . I haven’t thought about some of these in *YEARS* and now I can’t get them out of my head! I’m loving this oldies kick! More please!
Other Bread hits: Make It With You, Diary, Everything I Own, Lost Without Your Love, guitar Man, Aubrey, Baby I'm A Want You,, It don't Matter To Me and since you're a movie buff you may know The goodbye Girl when David Gates went solo.

I saw Bread at Pine Knob music theater in Clarkston Mi in approx 1976 , the last song was If they turned the lights down and pointed a spotlight at a mirror ball probably to soon to call it a disco ball …. But the light spots were all over the audience and it was just chilling simple but impactful… great way to end the concert .
Great, gorgeous song. I love the colour provided by the wah-wah guitar which I believe is also run through a Leslie (rotating organ speaker), a favourite sound of mine. ✌🏼😊🎶❤️🍁❤️✨️🕊
Hi Saeed! I remember when my older sister brought this album home... I fell in love! I believe this is one of the greatest yet simplest love songs of all time. David Gates... a true love balladeer who knows how to cast a spell!
Hello, Saeed: I don't wish to make you jealous but, I have the original 45 of this song. This was a good reaction by you. The first time I ever heard Bread was a song called, Make It With You. Their second hit record was It Don't Matter To Me. I also have both of those 45s and they are very good. Thank you for doing this one!
@@SaeedReacts. Yes! very valuable keepsakes for me. People are strange. You understand that but the guy I used to work beside at work didn't think so. A 'Carpenters' song came on the radio and I mentioned to him the four Carpenter 45s that I had. He told me that I was the most boring person he had ever met and why would I tell him about my garbage. 😂
It's brings me back to the days when guys picked up a guitar and tried to play and sing songs like this to impress girls or participate in talent contest, but the high falsetto last note was very challenging and often resulted in embarrassment. 😂
Great Song! I grew up listening to the soft rock music of Bread in the 70's & had their albums. Love David Gates voice. He has one of the most soothing & mellow voices. They had so many hits such as "Everything I Own", "Make It With You", "Baby I'm-a Want You", "Diary", "Lost Without Your Love", "It Don't Matter To Me", "The Guitar Man", "Sweet Surrender", "Aubrey" etc. In 1978, Gates enjoyed success as a solo artist with the hit singles "Goodbye Girl" (from the movie The Goodbye Girl) & "Took The Last Train".
Bread was a hit machine in the first half of the 70s. They have many soft-rock hits like this one. They were popular when rock was peaking. They competed for radio time with groups like Led Zeppelin, The Who, Jethro Tull and so many other legendary rock bands. Bread's music competed successfully because it was so popular, perhaps with an older audience. I have grown to enjoy Bread with age. Back in the day, I found Bread too soft. I called them 'White Bread'. ha.....But I've mellowed with age and have come to enjoy this music. As I said before, Bread has about 10 soft rock hits of similar quality.
I'm 61 and never into being a concert goer but grew up to all hits of the 60s70s preferring to listen to them on my own but when I was 14, got given tickets to a Bread concert and went. Got to meet David Gates backstage and such a gentleman he was.
@@SaeedReacts. Yes it was. I was only 14 and my friend and I were given tickets by our church friend who had to cancel going and the tickets included backstage passes so after the concert we went backstage and we didn't know what to do so we asked a guy back there and showed him our tickets and he said he'd go tell them so we waited a few minutes and then walking downstairs I saw David walking towards us in a white suit and he came over and we shook hands and he couldn't have been nicer. He then invited us up to meet the band but I was afraid it was gonna be too adult for me with visions of those rock band drug filled raukas parties going on playing in my head so I declined but just told David I had to go but thanked him for his music and I think him being in his 30s kind of knew how shy I was but he never let on. My only regret was not thinking of getting a camera to at least take a picture but that was my only concert and like said David Gates was such warm, kind gentleman and couldn't have been more gracious to us and I never would have thought I'd ever meet in person the group or man behind the music I loved listening to all my life on the radio. Great times back then in the 70s. Anyway that's more about the story and it's cool how much you're getting into the music from mine and so many of us from that era. Take care and all my best to you and your channel! ~ Take it easy. Jane

“You come and pour yourself on me“ has hit me all the time I’ve heard this song and I think i was six when it came out. It’s just such an amazing visual no matter how old you are. Also I played the organ and took lessons in my early years and this is a song I’ve had the sheet music to since I was probably eight. There is nothing more than music.
You happened upon one of the great bands of my youth. I would highly reccomend "Everything I Own", also by David Gates, about losing his dad. It is very moving.
This song takes me so far away to a time when life was beautiful and happy. When, as a child, I knew only love and no pain or concerns. I was actually tearing up listening to it. And in addition it is for certain the most beautiful love song ever written
I love this song and now that I’ve been married 40 years I still love it, but it was first brought to my attention in a heartbreaking double episode of the Hardy Boys series staring Shaun Cassidy and Parker Stevenson. I was a teenage4 with my first pop star crush on Shaun’s big brother David from the Partiridge Family
This came out when I was first into guys. This whole album was everyone's makeup, breakup, makeout, get out, I love you, I hate you, don't leave me and just leave me alone music. A lot of teenage tears flowed to Bread's music.
David Gates of Bread was the lead singer. He's from Tulsa and went to High School with Leon Russel, they would Jam with other people in the auditorium. Imagine going to school with two great talents. Check Leon Russel out.
Saeed since you are so interested in lyrics, this group has many good ones. Also if I may request to listen to Marty Robbins song El Paso. It’s performed in the acoustic cowboy singer/songwriter style.
"El Paso" is an extraordinary song from a time when people weren't writing four-and-a-half minute lyrical masterpieces. 1959-1960. Thanks for suggesting it.
Hi Saeed! Wow! That was a nostalgic moment! I had to watch it twice. 🙂I find I'm saying this a lot recently; "I was 13 when this song was on the Top 40". I obsessed over it. Yet again, I bought it on 45. It was one of 5 Bread singles that I owned. I figure that your patron Debbie is exactly my age, or really close. Our musical references are nearly identical. I'm hoping and praying that she'll request "Lay Down (Candles in the Rain)" by Melanie. 🙂 That one was my true obsession. You'll find lots more great Bread songs out there. For me, they were the best soft rock band of the 70s. Fine examples are "The Guitar Man", "Everything I Own", "Make It With You", "Baby I'm-a Want You", "It Don't Matter to Me". And on. Thanks for this one!
Hi timithius 😊. Yep, I'm 70 and the 60's and 70's music was the best. So many songs. Ahh Melanie.."Candles in the rain" was a great song, and so was The Cowsills " The rain, The park, and Other things" both great songs from that era. When I get the chance, I will suggest them to him. 😊😊

@@deborahvernarelli6394 I loved the Cowsills. That song is a classic! I'm 66 now, so definitely in the ballpark. I'm really enjoying your requests. And I'm quite enamored with Saeed as a reactor. 🙂I look forward to seeing him react to Melanie. LOL Thank-you!
@@timithius 😊❤️
