Not just that but the ban on sex in media ended in the 70s. The Hayes codes from the 1930s made it illegal to show heavy people as attractive, married couples in the same bed, interracial relationships, blatant displays of love in media and public for the next 40 years. It is no coincidence that the 70s were so "excitable" with their afternoon delights lol

Funny story about John Denver. He wanted to get away for a bit and asked his agent where he sold the least records. Agent said you're not too popular in China. So he books a trip to China after wooing the Chinese Chairman at that time in a concert in Washington DC - and is immediately mobbed! Turns out the Charmain (don't remember which, it was 30 or 40 years ago) was John's biggest fan and had been bootlegging his song "Country Roads" and playing it constantly over the airways of the entire Country! It launched a love affair that remains today... well after Johns passing.

Starting late 60's and thru very early 80s was great ... lots of these were early 70s (flower power Anti-Vietnam) vs later 70s was very different feel. Not enough Chicago, Boston, Journey, Eagles, Kansas, Aerosmith, Carole King ("Tapestry" may be one of the best albums ever), George Benson ("Breezin" album also great), Boz Saggs ("Silk degrees" another 70s must have album) All massive artists during the 70s.

77 ... I grew up with the music of the 70s so it will always be my favorite decade of music. I entered high school in 1972 and graduated in 1976, which means I'm not a young person now, but I wouldn't trade it for the world, because I got to grow up with this music. The end of the 70s was when the disco era began and there's no better music to dance toothan disco music. I was even a DJ at a disco in Dallas, when the movie Saturday night fever came out, with the accompanying soundtrack that had several huge hits from it, mostly from the Bee Gees. As you could see in the very brief snippets of music, all kinds of songs were popular in the 70s. Ballads were popular, rock songs were popular, love songs were popular, country western music was popular, disco was popular. Each genre of music climbed to the top of the Billboard charts. Today you would never have a country western song at the top of the Billboard charts, only the top of the country western charts. Most all music sounds the same to me these days and it lacks the individuality and creativity of the past decades, and it is all so auto-tuned. Long live the 70s!

I grew up in the 60’s and 70’s and the 70’s rocked! The talent and the diversity of the different styles of songs was incredible! I knew all of these songs except two of them!

I was a teen in the 70s, a young adult in the 80s, so from my experiences I would say I can't pick a decade. The 90s were good too (Bon Jovi!)

You can never go wrong with the Bee Gees or bands like Credence Clearwater Revival, the Eagles etc.

77! I was in High School in the early 70’s & college in the latter half. This was my music! Love it. I’m glad you’re enjoying it. Listen to the greatest hits of the band, “3 Dog Night”. That will certainly give you the 70’s feel.

Ahhhh!....I graduated from highschool in 1974 and attended my 50 year class reunion just a few months ago . This video brings back so many memories for me, both sweet and sad, (especially since almost all of my closest friends from highschool have passed away) but, it's all part of my life. The Carpenters had a very popular song probably used by all those girls in my class who married right after graduation ...it was 'We've Only Just Begun'. I always thought it was corny, but that's because I was not that kind of romantic. I had 45s and LPs from many of the artists you highlighted here. As your examples progress through the 70s you can really see the musical styles shifting from rock-'n'-roll toward disco. Thanks for this walk down memory lane, Andre!....77! 😉

I graduated in 1973 and I loved the music of that time. Wish he had played some Lynyrd Skynyrd, Bread, or Fleetwood Mac

@@summysmommy17.....yes! Maybe if Andre will do a live stream with music of the 80s as a topic those bands can be covered as well....also music of the mid to late 60s!

Also graduated in 1974 and attended my 50th year class reunion this past summer. This music was definitely part of our lives back then!

So fascinating to see the music transform from a more folky/hippie/indie pop in the early part of the decade to the more poppy/disco/rock/party music towards the last years of the decade

The change in musical quality was a direct result of the Rise of the Mr. Big's & Big Business in the Record Companies who only cared about the $$$$$$. Record Sales and Concerts and TV appearances were all they cared about.

60s, 70s and 80s are my favorites. I was a teen in the 70s. But I'm a metro Detroiter so of course I needed to include the 60s because of the Motown sound.

I’m 68 and grew up during the best times and music. Started with my parents Big Band era then my young step grandmother introduced me to rock Christmas 69 with CCR & Black Sabbath. She was so cool. Thanks grandma!
