  • When you're buying a brand new electric motorcycle, make sure it's the best. These Energicas have the most range (21.5kWh battery), fastest charging speed (23kW DC charging), and the new EMCE motor with 169hp to scare you on a daily basis. We went with Ribelles for the comfort, but also the styling. Italians make the sexiest bikes!

    This is 100% how every Energica owner feels like. Thank you for making these videos. The Energica family is amazing!!! All of the staff owners, CEOs, Engineers, they all deserve props. This is the best brand on the market right now because they care. They are doing this for the right reason! And they have your back when you need them most!!! Two years with my Ego 2020, and I am the happiest customer!!! This brand & family are unbelievable. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

      Yeah brooo!! I truly believe that customer service is the most important part of a company. They can sell you a great product, but then what? Will they pick up the phone when you call for tech support help?? Energica will :D And the community of riders is the best. I haven't forgotten that I still owe you a left side mirror lol. I'm ordering one now and assembling a goodie bag for ya.

    When I first sat the cat on the speedo I instantly thought "Oh! He's speeding again." 😄But then I thought "Wow, the tracking has gotten a lot better in his video editing software," and then I realized "Wait, he made stickers, didn't he?" Your videos really make a person think. Oh, also "Ducati money" sounds about right because I always think Energicas look like electric Ducatis.

      HAHA yep all my whole video's budget went into perfecting the art of kitten tracking, and compositing on realistic cardboard texture. You're right about Energicas looking like Ducatis! They have almost identical frames. I've heard some Ducati employees jumped over to Energica so it makes sense.

      Energica's are the best EV bikes yet (the LS-218 is better but nearly twice more expensive and the Triumph TE-1 is coming, way more dealerships), but unlike EV cars, EV bikes real life performance are still not better than ICE bikes. The Energica RS models (10.7 seconds) are as quick on quarter mile as an GSX-S1000 (for 12000 USD new). An 7000 USD 2005 GSX-R1000 and old 207hp ZZ1400 (9.4 to 9.6) obliterate the Energica by a second on a quarter mile, by 0.3 seconds from 0-60mph, and especially in handling and on a race track. And a Brock Performance S1000RR with over 210whp obliterates the quarter mile in 8.72 seconds (even faster than a Tesla Plaid).
      I wish Energica much success, especially to make lighter more energy dense batteries, maybe ultra reliable faster charging solid state batteries.

    Great to see how they looked after you both so well in terms of what you wanted. You just had to have that extra 0.2 seconds over Jen though, eh? 😂
    Have you approached the guys in Modena and offered the stick-on Blu Tack kittens as a possible extra?
    Things have been delayed a little for three of us in the UK waiting for our new arrivals due to the production line expansion, but I can wait. Looks like middle of next month now.
    In the meantime, I'm still enjoying my DSR while I still have it. General gripes about Zero themselves as a company aside, that's been a great bike. Will be sad to see it go 😭. But I'm sure the replacement will cheer me up! 👍😁

I still love riding my Zero (shh don't tell anyone it didn't actually explode lol) but every time I jump on it, it feels a little bit smaller and more like a kid's bike. One question for you Sam, after you have tested both the Ego and Eva: Do you think the Ego's riding position is much more agressive to the point it's not suitable for street riding, or it's fine but like having an Eva would certainly be more comfortable especially with the weight of the bikes and having an upright body position is much easier to stabilize than an ego?

    • @NewZeroland

    WOOT! Excited for you guys, and for the upcoming videos! I really want to replace my Yamaha R1 with an Ego RS or maybe the Damon Hypersport if it ever happens. Here in BC, Canada we're finally getting enough 50kW DC charging stations to do my favorite 600km day trip with no stretches over 110km! I'll be able to rip the whole way! :)
    I'm very interested in highway range and what speeds/ranges are realistic for spirited road tripping? Based on my FXS and my riding style, I'm hoping for 150-160km range (100%-0%) cruising at kitten km/h :P

    • @NewZeroland

      Thanks man! Haha I can't speak to kitten speeds because cops enforce the speed limit here like crazy. On the highway we're stuck around 100, so if you do that you should get around 200km of range. More if you tuck, but yeah less if you're spirited 😂 The power on the new bikes is mental. Your R1 has a higher top speed but that instant torque on the Energica is unlike anything else. I think you'll like it!

      Top Liter bikes are mostly not for 0-60mph or quarter miles, their real power is for race tracks and for mile long drag races or 80 to 186mph accelerations and 0-200kmh times in sub 8 seconds where the Energica needs 15 seconds for 0-200kmh, in comparison in the same 15 seconds for 0-200kmh the new Fireblade does 0-299kmh and a H2R 399kmh in 16 seconds.
      But that's for performance, most of the time in the real daily life world a 0-60 in 3.5 to 4 seconds and 90 mph top speed is what most people need, and with a real world 300km charged in 5 minutes would be an amazing future hopefully to come EV bike.

    • @NewZeroland
      @NewZeroland  2 роки тому

      It's the reduction gearbox that makes the noise. The gearbox is there because the motor is too big to fit directly in line with the rear wheel (like Zeros) but also so it can spin in an opposite direction to the wheels. That counters the gyroscopic effect and makes handling feel amazing. Straight cut gears are what make the sound so loud, and they're the most efficient type of gears. They use a chain instead of a belt because their history is in racing. It's easier to swap sprockets and make adjustments on the fly, and everything is easily available. Belts are custom for that specific bike, and you can only buy them from the manufacturer. If the belt snaps and you don't have a spare with you, it takes forever to fix. I'm a fan of the Star Wars / jet sound Energicas make, but I know some people hate it.

    Be Interested to see how you get on with the charge point. Only proble. I see with the Rivelle is having to lift the back of the seat on a road trip if you have luggage on the back seat. Its going to be really annoying having to remove the luggage just to charge the bike.

    • @NewZeroland
      @NewZeroland  2 роки тому

      That's the reason for saddle bags. I don't think I'll strap anything to the back of the seat, but probably a tank bag instead.

      @@descb600f maybe if you strap stuff to the seat itself, it would all just rotate back. Or to the sides of the bike. There are lots of mounting points on the frame. That would be an interesting challenge. One cool thing with electrics is that you can leave the tank bag on when you refuel.

    It's painfully clear Energica became a big sponsor. Good for them. Zero's arrogance is ringing true ever stronger. Look at their pay to unlock policy. I must confess I am a bit jealous. I am actually building my own electric motorcycle but still need the electro- and electronic parts. 🙂

      I think you overestimate the reach of my channel 😂 I don't have sponsors. I just share what I like. If a company is awesome, I want people to know about it. If a company decides not to help me when their product has issues, I want people to know about it. What bike are you building??

    Hi Sam, Iʻm one of your subscribers and purchased and received the Ribelle like your wifeʻs. Iʻm short and need to have the bike lowered, too. Can you tell me who you contacted to have this done. I have asked my dealer about this and they have been looking into this as well.
    Thanks much.

    • @NewZeroland
      @NewZeroland  Рік тому

      Hey, yep! It was lowered by the Energica team in San Francisco. From what they've told me, they dropped the rear preload all the way down and had the seat foam shaved by Corbin. That got about an inch or more off the height of her bike. Hopefully that helps!
