I had 88.5 WMNF playing on a KLH Model 20 radio and this song came on while I was having a one-night stand with someone. I literally stopped and said “hang on, I need to Shazam this.” And so I did, thank god i did because I would have never heard this ever again
I have been a fan of electronic music such as Depeche Mode/New Order among many others since the early 1980's and a few years back a friend had me check out a song from a band called TR/ST. The song "Icabod" form the album Joyland had me hooked instantly! Soon after buying the album I discovered the prequel album TRST and tore into that one as well and the rest is history! TR/ST IMO is the best new electronic sound in the last 20 years! I still haven't had the pleasure of seeing them live and hoping to soon! Maybe Robert Alfons can play a show back in our hometown of Winnpeg!
TR/ST is solid live, def see them if you get the chance. I saw them in Minneapolis at 7th St Entry which is a small(250 capacity)venue connected to 1st Avenue and it was a great atmosphere. If they come back to Minneapolis that might be the closest they'll get to Winnipeg but would be well worth the trip. Especially if they play at 7th St Entry again, it's one of my favorite venues in the country b/c its so small and intimate, which allows you to interact/meet the band without being mobbed.
I would have a problem choosing either TR/ST or Electrospectre as the best new electronic sound. "Iris" (TR/ST) and "Where two hearts meet" (Electrospectre) rival each other on a superb level.
TR/ST is one of the best breakthrough electronic acts that many have noticed in a while. Finally, the deserved change that this genre needed. Big shout outs to acts like Drab Majesty and Automelodi who also are paving the way to layered depths in moonlit synth and beauty in darkness.
