I remember listening to Shoom for the first time and thinking "Oh I'm gonna like anything he does" and it's true. Everything is a banger and hits me in a way no other music has ❤ Gets better and better while aging so well
Shoom and the rest of the TR/ST LP was my gateway, too. That cover photo was IMPOSSIBLE to ignore. However, it took me 1, 2 and then a 3rd visit back to the record store for it to finally click. Completely bounced off of it at first, thought I couldn't stand it! But it STUCK, and that quickly revealed itself to be an obsession that's stuck ever since
@@clvrswinei mean compared to most of his discography, not really. he barely had any of it showcased on the destroyer at all. i wouldn't say it's super rare but, not often at all
I doubt Robert ever sees these comments and he probably hears all the time” your music has done so much for me” but seriously. I would be lost without Robert’s comforting voice.
It was a Goth sister I know who turned me onto TR/ST. Robert seems to have a shyness to him, with his floppy hair and tank tops in all his performances. If you saw his KEXP video, his character comes through. His music makes me feel like I am floating. His lyrics are stunning. Not since Elizabeth Fraser, who was the lead voice for Cocteau Twins, has anyone made something that makes you want to know what they are saying. He knows his own gravity as a singer, and it comes out in his masculinity and deep voice in the videos. Although still quiet in promoting his work, his music has a good following. He believes in himself, and it's paying off. His music speaks to a part of me I never knew existed.
“His music has a good following “ as much as I want Robert to achieve all the success he wants I also never want tr/st to go mainstream. There’s too many doofuses who don’t deserve this gorgeous music, they will steal the musics soul.
I was introduced to TR/ST thanks to thirteen reasons why when they played Colossal in the background of a scene. I became obsessed with them and have seen therm live 2x so far. The synth sounds and his voice is just sooo damn good. Reminds me of depeche mode but TR/ST have their own unique sound.
I actually really like the way he mixes his music. Everything is distinguishable yet he maintains the air of atmosphere with big reverbs. Where as groups like gunship (whom I also really like) have the synth so front and center that every other instrument gets drowned in their oberheim sounds. Then again, that's the way OB synths are. Vast. My point is, TR/ST is balances their mixes very well.
It's mixed like mud, what are you talking about? Listen to it with some HD600s, you'll know what I mean. Everything is blended into a single formless sound, just like his attempt to distinguish low and high notes
Gen X TR/ST fan since the beginning. Reminds me a lot of Pet Shop Boys. Performance was the name of their tour for the Behavior album. Font use and the latest Tshirt and the Being Boring cover (which I absolutely ❤) makes me 😊...TR/ST carrying that torch well.
Reminds no one, anywhere of Pet Shop Boys. Just because there is a synthesizer, this is somehow reminding anyone of Pet Shop Boys? Yikes! Please, get some exposure to music.
Great video. Captures the sadness and isolation and triumph and beauty of TR/ST. Looks like it was filmed in Glasgow 😃. Saw TR/ST in Brighton earlier this week, excellent gig
this one stole the show for me, and i didn't necessarily expect that from the title track. from the minimal and beautiful intro, the opulent and cool synths that build and shift throughout the song and climax at the end, to Robert's ethereal high notes that carry the body of this track. everything about this song makes it stand out and keeps it on repeat for me, this and warp were definitely the perfect tracks from the album, and became immediate favorites from the discography altogether for me. the beautiful synths and outro of dark day deserve mention, too, but none of the other songs are as standout as this one. this album is a huge milestone, and it was lovely to watch unfold. can't wait to see what's next 🫶 been here since the start and each chapter is both just as good yet even better than the last
Lyrics: He used to call An empty night Hanging off the arms And the smile Here's the door Is this the sound? Leaving alone... Never going back to L.A. Where lemons have a residue, no rain I guess our fortunes were sold out Once I was old enough for us Now you're all I see Doubting everything Yeah, gave top energy How these words come back to me He took us nowhere Blue skies are clear Stay for a rush or a hit At first it satisfied, now I'm close to a clown Love on the rocks and the boats drown Watch the sadness float Now, I give top energy At first it satisfied, too close to me
It's been well over a decade since I started listening to TR/ST. Started with Bulbform and Capital. The live performance of Sulk on piano is my favorite. 🖤🖤
My downstairs neighbors will one day realize how much they love TR/ST lol

AMEN

I don't TR/ST them
babe wake up new tr/st video just dropped
Horrifically sheep-like, uninspired, non-fan comment. Please stop.
Love when he sings in his upper register, he doesn't often. Absolutely beautiful.
Um, no. He does it all the time. Often + oftener.

Capitols and sulk some of my all time favorite songs. I was 21 and just became homeless and that music helped me through those times

TR/ST is getting me through a rough breakup. Forever grateful for the music, and cant wait to dance to it in Denver.
Robert you've raised the bar on this one buddy.......
This artist inspires me and I can't stop listening to him and dancing, his songs are unique to me.❤❤
If there was a voice I had to put to the serpent in the garden of Eden, it would be the slithering and sultry voice of Alfons.

I’m so excited for this album. I listen to TR/ST more than any other artist, it’s all just so good…not a single skip in his discography.
I find Destroyer 2 a hard listen, but only because of the guitars (have I mentioned before how much I hate guitars?).
