SYNOPSIS
The Runner follows a strange woman as she travels to a secluded, rural town where her violent compulsions are slowly revealed. The story intertwines with band Boy Harsher performing on a public access channel. Their music scores the strange woman's descent deeper into the unknown.

So different from anything they've ever done, but still very distinctly Boy Harsher at the same time. I love it.
True, lil bit more upbeat than their earlier stuff. Sounds more like some 80s track that would of made it top 20 in pop charts, up there with Depeche Mode or Human League,or Soft Cell, than some melancholy coldwave/darkwave. But I still dig it,. .have a genuine love for the band. I need to hear the whole album.
SQ1 is 90’s synth. Fizmo was best from Ensoniq 90’s. The ESQ-1 and SQ80 are 80’s classics.

I loved the music of the 80s-mid 90s! I lost hope in good music about 2000. In the last decade, I've noticed a big revival of music influenced by that era. & I love it!

This is honestly a masterpiece in my eyes. This catches a feeling musicians try very hard to interpret. The vibe of the song matches the cinematography perfectly and it excentuates the impact like any artist means to achieve. Well done.
They captured that subtle area of emotion when you are as happy as you can be under your sadness. Very complex and they certainly achieved it. It’s an emotion that comes from loss, hence the nostalgia.

this song encapsulates everything i love about pop music. seemingly weird elements coming to joyous unison: boy harsher's dark wave pop and lucy's goofball lo-fi charm co-existing together.
then there's the imagery and characters of their film 'the runner' peppered in, with that spooky, fog-covered rural new england setting (i've been to new england for the first time this year and i finally attest why some much myth springs from this place).
plus the song has its own dance routine, which seems to be a strong factor in the era of TikTok.
i also find it great that there's no compromise here: boy harsher is still boy harsher, yet lucy is also completely autonomous in doing his uniquely lucy thing. pun intended, by the way. 'autonomy' celebrates free expression in all its catchiness and weirdness.
furthermore, it has all the intangibles of a great pop song, and it brings me a glint of joy each day. and boy, these days sure have been harsh.
Got that 80s style which we nowadays need to bring back. Synth sounding songs of the 80s and so on were really good. Even the synth rock.
