- THAT’S THE WAY IT GOES, The Five Jades, Clifton #73 1984
Flipside: FALLING IN LOVE - Here is another really great cover version from my collection. It is one of Mrs. Mints favorite songs so I am dedicating it to her today for Valentine’s Day.
The Five Jades all hailed from the Bronx New York. Group members are Anthony Hernandez, Dennis Cerrato, Frankie Izquierdo, Alfred Rivera and Hector Rosado Jr. “THAT’S THE WAY IT GOES” was originally recorded by The Harptones Rama #203 - 1956 and was written by Harptones’ founder, the late, great Raoul Cita.
This version by The Five Jades was produced by the late Ronnie Italiano (known as Ronnie I) (Clifton Music) He opened his CLIFTON MUSIC store in 1972 and it closed in 2012.
Ronnie I started U.G.H.A. in 1976 which created a resurgence of interest in vocal groups when at that time many vocal groups were "off the grid" and forgotten. United in Group Harmony Association was an organization dedicated to the preservation of vocal group harmony. U.G.H.A. provided the opportunity to see the groups and hear the music that was seldom or never heard on commercial radio. Ronnie I created the first "Hall of Fame" for vocal groups and balanced running his record store, radio show, record label, U.G.H.A. and promoting concerts and still found time to produce and record many vocal acts who might never have had any recordings. In addition, he was responsible for having reunited many acts for his U.G.H.A. shows who may never have ever sung together again!
He has produced and released so many recordings by so many artists that it's impossible to list them here. His sincere dedication to the vocal acts from the 1950's and 1960's was a labor of love.
Although, Ronnie I is no longer with us, his many contributions and efforts have left his indelible mark on doowop music forever. He was a very dear friend and he is sadly missed.
Enjoy this great cover version of "THAT’S THE WAY IT GOES" by The Five Jades. HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY 2017!
This tune still gets me...and that's the way it goes🥰🥰
Hi Cynthia, really nice to hear from you. A "GREAT" cover version. 😃🎵🎶🎵🎶
Thankyou ronnie I . R.i.p. old friend
Very nice sounds. Thanks
😂❤
This is a loving sincere homage to the Harptones.
Thanks Ray, very thoughtful comment!
Brilliant, absolutely brilliant!
Hi Karl, nice to hear from you. You certainly know your music, this is a "BRILLIANT" cover version of The Harptones classic!
THEY DID A LOT OF GREAT SONGS THIS IS ONE OF THEM
You're so right Leon, it's a "GREAT" cover version. Nice to hear from you.
Great group
Hi Dennis, you're right, they are great! They do a great job on this cover!
WOW!!! 50's doo wop sound in the 80's GREAT JOB!!
😍😍😍
Great song..they dont make them like this anymore❤
Hi Monica, nice to hear from you. You're so right. They don't make them like this anymore. This is a "FABULOUS" cover version from The Harptones original. Happy Holidays to you and your family.🎄
Thank you once again for keeping this music alive...I actuually have a cd compilation of his.
Great cover! Not quite the Harptones' fantastic original of 1956 but still great listening to this classic tune done right.
-This is so sweet it just gets you! Group Harmony of the 50s to mid 60s was so nice that it inspires countless numbers of singers, just listeners, & even some people who don't realize how nice those sounds were from years ago. & Even many people from then, til now, as it did with groups like this one.
---Great version, many groups over the years copied this great song, but nobody does It better then Willie & the Harptones.
Hi Barbara, this is one of my wife's favorite songs. It is a great cover version, as I have uploaded other versions n my channel. This one is special to me, The Five Jades are friends and it was produced by another dear friend that is sadly missed, the late great Ronnie I.
@@mintrecords4ever ---i agree Ron, great cover, awesome group The Five Jades & Ronnie I will surely be missed, he kept Doo-Wop going, very sad but that's the way It goes..
Long live Ronnie I's memory and music. He was quite a character but as righteous a man as they come - especially about the music. It's nice to have this is clean fidelity! (Note: this was cut at Joel Katz's studio.)
Beautiful harmony.originally sung by the Harptones.🎼🎶🎵🎤
Ron, first time I've heard this by the Five Jades, pretty dam good cover...
I saw them @ UGHA great group!!!! Love 💘 maria.
The Jades are an all star group. The arranger knew what he was doing, unlike the boring 1,6,4,5 boring harmony
Well I'll tell you what Ron this is a beautiful cover version absolutely love it thank you so much for sharing
Hi Daniel, only a year late LOL. Listen, you're so right, this is a BEAUTIFUL" cover version and that's why I uploaded it!
Cool Song!
Great
Good sound
I just noticed this..I don't believe there's another group that could handle this classic as deftly and sweetly as the Five Jades..their acappella cover of the Larks' "My Reverie" is nothing short of awesome..one of Ronnie's excellent 45 covers..thks
Brooklyn Mint, this is a "GREAT" cover version..."MY REVERIE" (Your Choice Records). I have it somewhere, purple label I think? Ronnie I released a lot of great vocal group records, I know, I have many that he gave me...precious!
Mrs. Mint has excellent taste. The Five Jades totally do justice to this song originally recorded by the Harptones (and you know how much I love them). Their harmonies are sensational -- what a lovely Valentine's Day post!
Hi Paul, happy you found this great cover version. You're right, the harmonies are fabulous!
Great version!
Dee, you're right about it being a great version, one of my wife's favorite songs!!
The Manhattan Transfer also recorded a great version too.
I didn't know that, I will check it out 😊
Hope all is well with you and your family.
This is one of my favorites!
Hi Dee, great to hear from you...all is well with the fam..thanks for asking!
Thank you, my pleasure.
Have a nice weekend!
Just found out my good friend Dennis Cerrato passed away. He was one of the founders of the group. He had many a dinner with my family. RIP.
Hi Joker, really sorry to hear that. Do you know what he passed from? Hector Rosado Jr. is a dear friend, how's he doing, do you know? Thanks for letting me know!
@@mintrecords4ever I'm not sure. Dennis and I lost touch. Nothing bad. My grandmother got sick, and I moved and just kind of lost touch, which I'm feeling sad about. We used to have lunch at the Rainbow Diner on White Plains Road. I'd burn CDs for him. I know Hector by name only. I'll talk to my mother and pass more info if I get it. Sorry. His friend Rocky told my mother.
Hector also had a group "PLAYGROUND" (Four Season's sounding) I don't know if the other 5 Jades members (Dennis) were in the group. I had them open one of my shows in Atlantic City (Casino) in the early 90's...shame to hear about Dennis!
@@mintrecords4ever OMFG I have the 4 Seasons compilation! Dennis gave it to me! The lead singer they had was sick! SICK! Sounded just like Frankie Valli! If I was sure about the copyright, I'd post it.
Joker, too much to tell you about that, I'll be typing forever. My name is Ron, call me on my cell phone (609-335-7944).
It came true Dawn Rachel Rodriguez your mine o mine forever true I love you Darling
Mario, very thoughtful and romantic comment.🥰😍❤
Nice remake
originally by the The Harptones, Rama #203 1956
Well thanks for the heads up you're right that's the five Jade's but not the five Jade's of The Relic label This Record is okay but you got to admit for Lovers Only album has the best version
It’s one and the same group. The Five Jades the Lovers only album & current.
The Original Five consisted of many great vocalist. We Spencer Jackson, Tony Moreno, Joaquin Roman,Manny Hernandez ( older Bro. Of Tony Hernandez ) Joey Figueroa. I Frank Izquierdo joined the Jades in 65
Almost as good as the Manhattan Transfer version !
Hi Albert, nice to hear from you. You're right, almost as good LOL. But, nobody beats the original (The Harptones).
With respect ..not even close !!
Thank you once again for keeping this music alive...I actuually have a cd compilation of his.
Hi paprikash, nice to hear from you. I really appreciate your thoughtful comment about keeping the music alive, thank you! A lot more great music on my channel. Thanks for your support!
