Flipside: HEAVEN AND PARADISE - Here is another great uncharted song from my collection. This is a real nice cover version that was originally recorded by The Moonglows on (Chess #1629) in 1956. WHEN I'M WITH YOU was co-written by Harvey Fuqua, a very dear friend who is sadly missed.

I am blown over by this song. Such pure voices and talent. Gone are those days when groups had 5he talent and didn't use all the equipment to make true music.

Ron, when I was collecting and listening to my favorite ballads, at a very young age...I found myself leafing through and through but always landed on my favorites...played them over and over again...this was one of Pittsburgh's greatest hits...Guess what, I'm electronically leafing through...landing on my same favorites...how bout' it? I had the pleasure of meeting Harvey Fuqua and singing with him at a Doo Wop Society Show in So. Cal., in the 90’s. Very nice guy and great singer.
This side is just as great as the flip..one of those rareties that had two A sides -- and both ballads!! Makes collecting wonderful,,thks

Nite Owl was a Seattle, WA label, but the Chants were from Southern California. One of the founders of the label was originally from CA, and returned to the LA area just as the label was about to fold, and signed the Chants for one release.
Hi Andy, yes it says Seattle, WA. on the label. My maroon copy was worth $300.00.. 20 years ago. Also, other artists on "Nite Owl" were The Gallahads, Ron Holden, The Four Gents. The Chants do a great cover of The Moonglows classic. Nice of you to take the time to leave a comment!

Big here in the Pittsburgh area. Porky(RIP) and Terr Lee (RIP) along with a host of DJ played this a lot. Still being played today on the oldie station here, (May 2015)

I will venture to say this version of a Moonglows classic is sung as good as the Moonglows. I've been listening to songs and voices like this since 1954 & forward. Music will never be the same as I remember it. Fortunately, I saw the original Moonglows in the early 60's a few times. They were absolutely phenomenal to hear.

But thanks to THE DOO WOP SHOP on FM, I was exposed to these fantastic records, (78 r.p.m.is my format of choice). The Sunday night show was truly special. Gorgeous rare and obscure sides were played. All of that lost to time. And sadly...many of those records are forever lost to time.

Gigantic in Pittsburgh
Hi Paul, Mrs. Mint here. I'm checking out some of Mr. Mints comments today and saw this one. We have all recently come down with covet 19. It has hit Mr. Mint the worse. We just brought him home from the hospital and is resting nicely. The doctors have him on oxygen, probably for a while until he gets his strength back. It's going to be a long recovery for him. I'll keep you posted!
