- Removed controls on handlebars to paint, reassembled them, starter button doesn't work. Disassembled again, wire in middle of button loose, manually held together and attempted to start and bike is dead in the water. Lights and gauges comes on when key is in ignition, checked voltage on battery (12.61v), used jumper cables from my bike with a new battery, and checked all of the fuses by eye. All to no avail. Let me know what you think the issue could be.
Can you take the seat off and show me the wiring please? Because I recently picked up a 2006 and the wiring is all cut and pulled out of the connectors but I have a few ideas on yours if you didn’t get it running yet. Thank you
The contacts of the kill switch needed to be cleaned, if I recall correctly. I don't have this bike in my possession anymore, unfortunately.
Did you ever find the problem. After attempting to change grips i have the same problem
Ended up paying a dealership to troubleshoot and resolve. They ended up cleaning the contact points on the kill switch for an exorbitant amount of money. Worked thereafter.
Dang i have taken some sand paper to the contacts and still nothing. But i know its in that switch cause it didnt start till after i messed with it
dammit!! my bike is in the same boat , I was hoping this video or the comments had the solution , argh . did you ever manage to fix it??
6pin66 had to scrub the crap out of the contact points on the starter button and the kill switch. Paid a dealership about $150 to figure that out.
thanks , I'll give it a shot
@TheShadowsWithin so contacts points were cleaned then resoldered?

i had that problem! also it turns out it;s a relay on the fuse box that is not getting ground so i attached a cable to de cable of the terminal of the relay and problem solved, i just followed with a tester from ignition, start on the handle bar controls till a got to the fuse box
What relay?
I wish I had seen this video before I tried to take mine apart I'm kinda regretting this now
