Have you tried the Sony ZV-E1? I believe it is much better for UA-cam content than the 7CII. I’ve used to make wedding and it is amazing the image quality
As the whole world begins to use AI and other tools. So too will your customers. They are brighter and sharper than you think. They can tell. And it translates immediately into an overall impression. if you fluff 1080p today it it can detract from any quality perception of brand.
Sony colour spaces really pop for skin tone now. I was also impressed by the absolute clarity of this video in low light conditions. Im waking up to Sony now, thank you. A7c II at the top of my shopping list.
I own an A7SIII and an A7IV right now for video work. The SIII isn’t going anywhere-it’s basically the messiah of video cameras. The SII became legendary when it came out, and the SIII not only lived up to expectations of a successor, it exceeded them in some ways. A landmark of technology and definitely staying in my arsenal for years to come. I don’t like taking photos with it though, and that’s mostly because of the noise levels. The A7IV is a different story. When I bought it, I wanted a hybrid shooter that can do great video and great photo. Problem is, the applications where I need a good B-cam for recording are long form (wedding ceremonies), and for whatever reason, the A7IV suffers from just enough thermal runaway that it’s not really usable in those scenarios. Since I’m starting to do more photo stuff recently anyway, I’ve really been digging my A7IV as an everyday/photo camera. But I miss the compactness of the A6300s that I started out with several years back (I sold one, but still keep another kicking around with a few lenses). I used my A6300 for a proper gig at the start of this year, and its compactness was critical for my ability to carry it into a place that did not allow “professional” photography. So I’m contemplating selling off or trading in my A7IV to spring for the A7CR. If my B-cam is going to be good for photos, I want something LEAGUES better than any phone camera out there, and the A7CR is literally the best you can get. Oh, and I’ll probably get silver, because I love the idea of my photo camera having a slightly different aesthetic from my black A7SIII.
Hey Matti - What did you use to film the desk shot where you were looking at the laptop? 06:20 seems like it is hunting for focus like crazy. It reminds me of when we used to use a GH5.
The A7siii combined with the new 16-35 II is a killer combo. I recently got the A7siii and its gonna still be a work horse years to come. New cameras are great, but love the A7siii.

OK so this is 5 months old and there's 300 comments I haven't read so maybe someone answered this question for you. But in DaVinci, with effects like that you have to tell it you want it to render to the cache live by going to the Playback menu, Render Cache, and switching it to Smart. You can also sort fudge your playback resolution by reducing the timeline resolution during your edit then just bumping it back up for export.

Now that the A9III is out with global shutter, what I would like to see is a 45-50 megapixel global shutter with oversampled 4k 24p, 60p, 120p in the FX3 body with open gate. It will be awhile before anyone do anything like that, but hopefully the future will come sooner than later. But maybe by then 8k is the norm and we would prefer oversampled 8k 24p, 60p, 120p from 12k. So FX3 is good for now. Though the Burano seems really interesting though, apart from it not being global shutter. I mean, 2x CF express type B? Internal ND with Inbody stabilization? Ai autofocus? Seems like what most of us are looking for, put all that in the fx3 body and put a global shutter and charge FX3 price for it. Let's see what the future brings.
I knew it was gonna be those! Man I wish Sony could lend me them to review them! I need a travel friendly good video and photo camera than my a7siii and a7iv haha
I think if u add a cage or some type of extra weight to the a7cii to make it a bit heavier I bet the stabilization gets better 👍 it will help with any micro jitters u get with a light camera
What's with the strong moire in the a7c2? Particularly noticeable in the sweatshirt in the iso tests... Is that from poor scaling or line skipping in camera or in post?
Re: the megapixel comparison, to be fair a closeup portrait shot wide open is gonna show the megapixel difference less than almost any other type of photo. And of course the beauty of the 60mp sensor is that you can crop in 2x on a photo and STILL have more detail than the a7S.
The evolution of cameras and UA-cam. I remember when you were using the Canon 6D mkii then the bigger heavier 1DX then a small Sony FX3. Now the debate between these cameras 😊
To the editor, you're probably rendering the scene in full resolution I think there's a way to reduce the visual res or the debayering algo on your live view. Im not saying reduce your output res, its that small box you watch on thats rendering at full res and causes the slow I think
4:02 start here for what's up in 7 seconds. This video could be summed up, for me, in that 7 seconds. :) But the whole video was great, thanks so much for doing this!
and for me that's the a7siii, the skin tons and just overall vibe feels best. even up to 4:43 where you say the a7cii is more detailed, but in this particular frame I'm seeing the a7siii is better focused on the eye making it appear more detailed. And anymore detail than that might be excessive, not look as natural, and cause moire even? so still to this point the a7siii feels better to me. You say the a7siii has more of a green tint but on my monitor it looks significantly warmer than the other two. But, for some reason I prefer that look and when I ask others they often prefer something totally different. So, it would be interesting to actually play with these assets, like download a super short clip of them.
5:40 I feel like the two a7c look basically the same and still feel like the a7siii has a deeper color expression that is more pleasant and interesting and less video feeling.
Then at 5:42 where you "go with a7cii" i see more of your facial hair on the a7siii and still the image on the as7siii looks better even moving forward 6:40 where the a7siii for a second might have looked more green for a second but then I realized it might be your facial hair and through this part the white balance on the a7c's or the color was all over the place. The a7siii held it together color wise through that part. What was going on there 6:28 to about 6:40
good points on the eye focus and the low light for the a7cii... well but then at 11:36 when you walk up to your face, the a7siii seems to be doing just fine on eye focus, so it must really be as you said, when you're as close as possible when that will matter... I still feel like the a7siii looks better; better contrast, doesn't feel overexposed/washed out/videoish like the a7c's that are more pinkish and less moody.
i thought the A7c ii looked most stable... it could have been a rougher walk-in filming with your a7siii though.. but after looking up the price.., i see no reason why anyone would buy it over the ZV-E1.. its got an EVF.. thats the one appeal

Re: the megapixel comparison, to be fair a closeup portrait shot wide open is gonna show the megapixel difference less than almost any other type of photo. And of course the beauty of the 60mp sensor is that you can crop in 2x on a photo and STILL have more detail than the a7S.
Zve1 vs a7cii for video ??
You told that you leave youtube man :) nice to see you here
Dude, congratulations on your next big step. 🤩
btw please don't leave us dry in dessert. Just post something like a vlog once in a month or quarter
These are so sick!
Nice and compact but those Sony jokers probably wouldn't release any firmware for it..
Not true about the 640 as base for FX3 anymore with the newer firmware updates its 800 as base with 2.0 & 3.0 update
So are you back to being a UA-camr now?
To Grant. You need to fix all scratch/cache disks when using Davinci.
Great video. Loved this comparison, thank you!
SUPER.!!!!!! SOON I WILL MAKE MY REVIEW
5:40 I feel like the two a7c look basically the same and still feel like the a7siii has a deeper color expression that is more pleasant and interesting and less video feeling.
almost like you have a nicer tan/complexion in the a7siii
I need someone to compare this to an s5ii or s5iix lumix
thank you for this video it's a great job it is unbelievable but a7 s3 it's still one of the best
Really enjoy your content. Very informative.
What?!?! Oh man. When I can afford this on my indie income I want this!
Just more great cameras for us 😊
Basically just a small a7iv. Not bad....but nothing super interesting.
I assume it overheats quite a bit?
Definitely not gonna replace the FX3/A7SIII.
I'm still using the A7SIII. Not enough of a leap in advancement with the new cameras coming out to justify a new purchase.
I´m just mad the a7IV is literally the only camera with 4k60 crop :( please SONY!!!! just give us that, I beg
i thought the A7c ii looked most stable... it could have been a rougher walk-in filming with your a7siii though..
but after looking up the price.., i see no reason why anyone would buy it over the ZV-E1.. its got an EVF.. thats the one appeal
You had an entire spiel of your journey through film making and your thoughts on thinking you wanted to do different things. Why are so many people missing the point of your last video 😂 also, this might finally be the B cam for my a7s3
