Where is the tiny loom from that you held up un the beginning of the video? I've been looking for something like that to no avail.
The tiny loom I held up was made by Jim Hokett. He has passed away and these are no longer available. I now use looms made by Handywoman Shop and highly recommend them. Her tiny bamboo looms are stronger than Hokett looms and they work well. I love her larger looms as well. www.handywomanshop.com/

The wool is 18/2 from weaversbazaar in the UK and the tubes in the shot are indeed silk, also from weaversbazaar. Great company, excellent colors, wonderful tapestry yarn. Highly recommended. I wondered why you didn't leave a narrower shed stick in the work or would it be too tight when you want to change sheds? I push a skewer to the very top and leave it there for the alternate rows. I leave it there for as long as I can weave to make it faster :-)
I do this a lot including in this video. You maybe can't see it, but there is a thin rod at the top--a double pointed knitting needle. That leaves the shed slightly open and then I slip a shed stick in there. One row has the open shed, the other I pick just as you're saying.

Lovewatching this and going through all your tutorials on youtube. Thanks so much. Why dont you leave the stick in the shed up high rather than having to re do it every time you're in that shed? I leave a skewer in mine at the very top so that each time I'm in that shed I just bring the skewer down. is that wrong? Lu in Australia
This is a great question Linda and I need to make sure that I show the whole loom when I do this next time. There IS a stick up high in the shed that I'm using for every other shed. I can't leave the shed stick in because then that will be the only open shed. They can't move past each other. Navajo weavers use string heddles attached to a stick to get around this which you could do on a small loom like this. So there IS a double pointed knitting needle at the top of my looms like this for one quick shed. The other shed has to be picked.
Man I have to take this class! Is the set 12 or 16? Thats the tiniest weft💕
Sett is 12 epi. It is 2 inches wide (approximate) and I probably threw in a couple extra warps. Weft is quite thin but I really like it. weaversbazaar wool and silk.

wouldn't straight needle weaving it without sticks work as well?
Sure, but that is really hard on the yarn--dragging it through the shed repeatedly makes it fuzzy and for handspun it will destroy it.

@@vickistone3700 You can absolutely just use needles or other tools... just depends on the yarn you're using and how fast you want to weave.

@@vickistone3700 Also this is 12 epi and my fingers are way too fat to pick this shed without help. So I'd have to use a shed stck anyway. I always do on small pieces. I think it is faster and easier.

Thanks Kathryn! The shed stick was made by Jim Hokett. He is retired now. I love these particular sticks made of holly. I think Weaving Rainbow might still have some of his shed sticks though. weavingrainbow.com/
I don't understand why you only open half the shed per line of weaving then have to open the other half for the same line of weaving. Why not just put the shed stick all the way through first time? Yes i'm a nube.
There is a double pointed knitting needle that holds one shed slightly open at the top and that goes all the way across. The other shed has to be picked. I'm weaving up in shapes for most of this as you have to when weaving eccentric outlines which means I'm not weaving all the way across at once and thus am just wasting time and energy if I open the whole shed on the picked row.
