I live in California and want to tell everyone about the hilarious face that anti-gunners make when you tell them that the "Assault Weapon Ban" did not actually ban AR-15s.
      It's totally deer-in-the-headlights.
At that point I tell them "I was at the gun store down the street yesterday and there were a dozen AR-15s for sale. The Assault Weapon Ban just means the AR-15s can't have a flash suppressor, folding stock, or pistol grip.
Around that time I tell them that M-14s and M-1 Garands are legal, and the last mass shooter just used a couple pistols. Then I tell them to have a nice day.

Downside: one has to be careful about loading through that window. If you hold the rifle upside down and drop in the rounds, they get jammed up. I found that holding the mag inclined upwards (so that gravity is pulling the bullets down) is reliable. I haven't yet tried, with say three rounds still in the mag, to pull down the traveler and shove more bullets in. I guess there's a potential for the three bullets to jam while they're falling.
This is a great solution for going to the range.
For home defense, still have the removable 30 mags. Unfortunately for me, mine were lost in a boating accident...

If you're heading out to the woods or desert to shoot, its fantastic because you just throw it in your bag, insert your own regular magazine, (still shitty because of 10rds) and have everything else be completely normal. I don't have any complaints with the Comp-mag, but I replaced it after a few months with a MagLatch F.N.G.R fixed mag kit. I'm using a standard Lancer 30-round clip with a 10-round limiter. I'm no gunsmith and not even that mechanically inclined, but it took me all of 30 minutes to remove the old Comp-mag and replace it with this fixed mag setup. The F.N.G.R tab works great. You can push on the mag release as much and as hard as you want and it won't budge. The cool thing is that it takes me less than 5 minutes to remove the FNGR tab. All it takes is a simple hex-wrench to remove it. When it's out, I can slap/swap standard 30 rounds mags all day long (like when I go to Nevada, Arizona, etc.). You would never guess my rifle is CA compliant based on how it looks.

One state over you still get 30 rds and don't have to rebuild a carburetor to changer mags.

Thanks to Judge Bonitez who ruled that large capacity magazines were constitutional and any magazine owned would be forever exempt from future rulings. Thus during "freedom week" a million magazines were sold.

I live in CA but saw a video where some guy said if you live in NY you need to glue/cover the little hole that releases the mag. Do we have to do that in CA too or only in NY ????

What about that grip with the fixed .22 mag in it for ARs that also gets around ca laws?

I think they “may” have already passed a law or some similar regulation addressing that. Funny how fast they can work to restrict something out there.

I'd prefer a 10 round detachable magazine over a fixed magazine.
This might be great for people to have a proper rifle just in case theyre suddenly allowed to have cool guns, but still.

Toss a Thordsen stock and a compensator on your AR and you have it; it does not look "Cool" but function over looks any day
