      all three of them. I have luck with 1/4 turns of the handle, fast action seems to get them fired up. If they don't like that on the day I mix it up and use all of them till I find what they are liking.

    Thanks for all this valuable information. A quick question: Why not use an additional treble hook at the bottom of the lure instead of relying solely on the assist hooks when using a boat? Much appreciated.

      Cheers Brett hoping you stick to some of these techniques as they are very effective. Recently I watched a few clips based in your side of the ditch with micro jigs and the techniques shown were more speed jigging with them than actually slow pitch jigging which is what micro jigs are better suited to. Good luck with the fishing and tight lines cheers.

    Great video.Good explanation of techniques.I use microjigs and bigger jigs from shore and i have a question.Is it more effective off shore and vertical than doin it from the shore?For sure we snag more times from the shore but as we learning the technique,the places we fishing and the movement of the jigs we can avoid it enough.Excellent video (C&R)

    • @NZkayakfishing
      @NZkayakfishing  4 роки тому +1

      Thanks and great to hear of your adventures with the jigs also. Yes we do cast them and there are some anglers using them from shore but definitely something to try more. With the kayak it is very quiet and so its possible to drop down to them with good success and they don't know you are there. I have cast as well from the yak and it does work but I do love hunting with them and a fish finder cheers

      I think someone already asked this question before on this video but for the slow pitch style you cant go wrong with the Jigstar Tai Kabura rod matched with Maxel Hybrid 20 reel in overhead, spin Jigstar Tai Kabura rod and Penn Clash III 3000 or same size Penn Battle III reel, line weight braid 20lb cheers

      Thanks. I use the Old Town Predator PDL Kayak and as far as setup if its kayak then we fit with Rob Fort Series accessories, Railblaza. The fishing setups OH set Maxel Hybrid 20 with Jigstar slow Jerk 20z rod and Spin Jigstar Tai Kabura rod and Abu Garcia Roxani 2500 reel. Look out for another upcoming video on this style of fishing which has more rod actions for sucess cheers

      I use the Jigstar Tai Kabura and Slow Jerk rods and Maxel overhead reels. As far as spin anything with smooth drag and around 3000 size is excellent. Braided lines are best in PE 1-5 - 2. Fluorocarbon leader 20 lb to 30 lb and use 2 to 3 meters. Slow pitch style jigs are a good option also from 28 to 150 gram depending on the depth of water. These links will help with setups but you may want to search for online tackle store that can send to your area.

      Hi Daniel. Firstly slow jigging is often the term used for inchiku lure use which are different. Perhaps you are meaning slow pitch jigging which is a technique used with both micro and slow pitch jigs?

      Ali I'm using a higher end set and worth the spend its a Maxel Hybrid 20ch, Jigstar slow jerk 6'3" 2oz rod, 20lb multi coloured braid, 20 to 30lb flouro leader, jigs sizes 28g Zest sling and 60g Zest slow jay are my favourite. It is possible to use a lesser value combo and even a softbait spin set can work depending on the rod rating but a shorter rod is better. I will cover setup and gear in another video soon

    Micro jigging is just what normal jigging was in the 90s with the grim reaper and buzz bomb lures etc. It''s been renamed and re-branded for marketing purposes. it worked then and it works now, nothing new really.

    • @NZkayakfishing
      @NZkayakfishing  5 років тому

      Sure did the grim reaper was fantastic and its great that this style of fishing has come back I reckon. Although slow pitch jigging is the exception and the new style jigs are way more advanced than the good old grim reaper cheers

      @@Fluid36 Absolutely and the thing you got to love about using lures is it stops bait use leaving any natural bait in the ocean where it should be. Plus like you have said lures are fun!
