How to Build an Automatic Pig Feeder

- I made this video to show my friends in Uganda how to build an automatic pig feeder. This is a very simple design, all of the materials cost me about $75 and took about 1.5 hours to assemble. The size can be modified to fit your needs. This feeder should be kept under cover, out of the weather. A lid could be built for the top and hinged doors for the feed area if desired. I hope this gives you some ideas for how to build your own feeder.
I have been trying to find this video for some time because I have finally decided to utilize this very design in my Pens... Will def be sized for single pigs as well!!! Very simple and very effective.. Once filled I wouldn't need to visit the pen to feed them every single day.. :)
thanks for the guide !!!
Thank you. Great Video and you didn’t make the video too long.
It's a simple design yet smartly configured and looks as if you utilize all the materials well. Good job brother! Thanks
Hello Brandon, Thanks for sharing and i can wait to try this out on my farm project
Thanks. Great stuff
Extremely clear and concise video. Great use of materials. Very well done! Many thanks.
FYI
To make any wood impervious to water/rain. I use fiberglass resin and cover both sides of all the wood. The easy way is to roll it on a 4X8 sheet of plywood then coat the uncovered ends prior to enclosing. Only adds about $20.00 to any project made of wood. Lighter than treated wood and last longer.

That is brilliant ideas. Where can I have a detailed fiberglass resin informations? How much roughly cost? Thanks
Here's a link to a marine supply co.

They are expensive. You can call them and find out what works for your application
then shop around for cheaper products. Dupont must make a similar product at a lower cost. Contact a local Auto body repair shop in your area. They can help you out.
Thanks. I will try one myself. Thanks again.
wow this is great
Excellent. I will make one for trial

Its awesome

how did you get the two 12 inch pieces on the bottom and the 10 inch piece on top to hold together? did you only put screws on the top 10 inch piece ?
Thoughts about putting ground up feed in it? Im worried it might become packed completely full.
as long as the feed stays dry it Should be alright.
How do you keep the rats from having an all day buffet
And there's so many in Uganda
How many pigs can this auto feeder accommodate
can corn meal work
What do you use for a tip to keep the feed dry
Conway my feeder is located indoors. I don't think I would recommend a wooden feeder be located out in the weather. however, if you did you probably would want a tarp over the top and to put some type of lid over the eating area that the pigs could lift up.
I built this and shingled it on all sides. Kept everything dry
How many pounds of feed do you think yours holds??
I can put between 400-500 pounds of feed in it.
Woodprix is nice for that.
