    I just bought 45 bushels of corn from my grain elevator for $320.00. I wanted 18-20 bushels and clearly I was way wrong on guessing. So after buying everything, Soybean meal $14.80 per 50# , mineral $14.99 per 50# and corn price is $6.00 per 50# I’m at roughly $7.53 a bag 14% protein. Yes I have a grinder and my time but my feed store wants $12.95 a bag. I’m on track for $2.00 per pound of pork in the freezer.

    I know some people don't like the idea but I think its brilliant that you are raising your own pigs for food. Many people (myself included as being disabled I unfortunately am no longer capable of farming) will just buy their meat & not have a clue where it came from & what kind of life the animal had. Raising your own you know they will have a good life

    A small portable concrete mixer is great for mixing dry or wet feed. Also a good way to mix small amounts in a 5 gallon bucket 🪣 is to go to your lumber yard and buy a wallboard mud mixer for your electric drill. Great for wet feed too!

    I pay $11 a hundred for bulk feed. (September 2024) I drive 40 minutes, once a month and get 16% feed loaded into my plastic 55 gallon drums. 6 drums holds between 1800 and 1900 lbs. I feed my 7 pigs twice a day and my 7 cows get a little taste so they come up when I call. I need to weigh. I feed enough soaked feed that there is a little leftover when I come back in the afternoon and the trough is clean in the morning.

      How do you make soybean meal from beans?

    • @cdjhyoung
      @cdjhyoung 2 роки тому

      @@ofonimeessien6533 Not really a process you can do in small quantities at home. The beans need to be crushed, the oil pressed out of that mash and then the remaining bean meal heated to break down and enzyme the beans contain that keeps the protein from being digested by the pigs. To give you an idea of how big an operation needs to be to be profitable, a local business man built a crushing plant that could process four semis of beans a day. He lasted about two years, selling everything he could process, but he couldn't really make a profit because it didn't produce enough oil to gain him commercial contracts for the oil. So he was making about 160,000 lbs of soybean meal a day.

      When you start deviating from this set food ratio you really need to be paying attention to make sure the pigs don't just get 'bulk roughage' and actually get the protein and carbs they need to grow. The taste and quality of the pork from pigs is highly reflective of the food they eat. If you feed a pig garbage, you end up with pork that tastes a bit like garbage. You can let pigs graze on pasture, but realize they are going to create all sorts of ruts in the field. But you still need to provide them with a balanced diet.

    I came up theoretical designs, i us3d 5his a s a commenton anudder vid thougt its good food for thought, u could use a metal bin with like chicken fence 🤺, to get most the rocks out before idk blending your trash mix with or without meat in like a sink that has a pole going into a bucket, with disposal or blender, perfect mix maybe your own design for composting is awesome, a guy I know came up with having layers of chicken fence, and shake them with a machine, every now and then l, u can use the same design to make toilet paper, see on yt, they use like swing doors sheet stuff, and smear it with like the concrete spreader, let it dry over night with like a sheet on it, then roll it up, paper is brown without bleaching. Look into leech field septic tanks, how they make a giant milk jug for a well on the spot?! Idk, u just have to make sure compost gets water, u could implement your design to cook at a certain degrees, and add hoses to make hot water system, which of course is a milestone with new peltier tech, and u could just make like the seeds that work like memory metal to dig, u could make a predator net thing, type digging device that could also be used as a pully system, fold out escalator brace to a steel staircase, also finding a way to use it for like repairing a road which I suggested in an email to the guy doing the ghost town videos, he had to pull an escavator out, that's never within the budget of someone that sees things from a poor man's view, u have to think of everything first or else u be stuck using an escavator an I'm sorry but no1 can afford that, an even if
    They could afford it, it's not helping new York process any of their trash for profit. Got idea for remote control dollies with arms maybe a crane, electro magnet, a forklift that doesn't use power along with the dolly if possible, u have throw out squares is the idea for u to push wheeled deal, came up with a tire balancer replica made of like steel, turns sideways after packing funnel dirt for tire make earthen structure easier, old tires dont smell as bad I'd say, and can be found free in extreme bulk have heard possible, u put the weights on for the forklift and push it on the squares u threw down it has hangy hook grapple hooks for tire, non electric, except now I believe addition of electric if wanted to is nice in design, and there's a guy that made a rock crusher hooked ti a cartwheel on yt, and some1 washing machine house uses Pelton wheel, 45 psi, got an idea making an extrovert introvert fish hatchery lake, with separate filled concrete slab for filtering fish with ick, but making a retractable well for reasons unknown yet, above the installment under the lake for the possible energy production according to needed pressure. I think in general peltier and graphite nanotube chainsaw, as well as the predator digging net, will cover along with electro magnet from like microwave "danger may cancer", fixing the road should be easy, + I try to come up with house apartment design for people that may not associate, and may be hostile to eachother, above an below ground, permaculture area, wouldn't hold on large a population, I consider it illegal territory as is, and the only alloted battery of its type in the system, and can only increase in size due to need to production, also a tram instead of power lines it receives no mail since in ways isn't considered an address, we use probably pand based tram since energy requirements, power is powered in unit's instead of a grid, look into new record for 0 kelvin, using faraday cage, and a liquid that stays liquid nearest to 0 kelvin in a centrifuge, galvanized metal, I've thought of systems internally that aren't effected by emp and if turned off electronically sets a fuse for the change over an repair of original organ, earth batteries have been said to not need at a infinite rate between lapses of adding hydrochloric acid, me thinks added design to make similar grid metal design for gold hoppers, 1 for current, 1 for heat, 1 for frequency, etc. Also implement findings into a bubushka water reclaiming fold out shower, have heard pbc pipe can be cut using some material like a rope, me thinks carbon nanotube pull can be altered to include design end result, Mini chainsaws that can be changed into lasso etc, maybe they could try for a credit card sparkler bomb type credit card gun, that shoots hitler suicide pills or something, they can take bridges down using an ice pack have heard, and napalm supposedly hit 3000° 23 need aerogel for peltier generators, maybe carbon fiber to help with the hot side. Can make slivers of catfish cornbreaded deep-fried. Can think of possible catfish hole pre-made design, + greenhouse roof floor level design, making lettuce might be easier, could cultivate the fish by attempting fish farming, could include, hot or cold could use walmart vegetable nets tied together to just gank the fish during feeding to attempt to keep population exponential. Use the nets for feeding so they might remember to come back maybe see if hot or cold attracts fish also. Possibly use fish as fertilizer, or food for pigs etc. Check if sodium level is optimal for pigs. Make auto egg gathering machine I heard been an issue. Lol
    Think we should start a food underground barrel shed, figure put how to store food in a Barrel longer even if Barrel is split up inside, I guess kachava, omega 3s meat from algea instead, flax seeds, sunflower seed lecithin instead of soy, avoid fake vitamin c, has a certain name, daily timed meals, starting with breakfast,don't breakfast unless eaten fo 9 hrs including drinking sides water, delta pro, an like at least 1400 watts of power, try to cut energy down instead of using any battery, look up diy suitcase battery, around 8 mins in change the design to incorporate like insertable plugs to complete secure circuit, so that the 100$ chip can be re applied to each separate unit, an possibly multiple units if battery/% watt hr increases dramatically enough, or might be needed for washer dryer etc, hot water tanks can be an issue learn more about electric I tell myself. But compost water heaters might keep certain off on peltier units going easy, sides that look into eastern yurt design freezer, it's like clay with egg white an maybe straw or feathers idk going underground vented a certain way. Just include plastic totes braces with sticks in a sorta x brace design for other ventilation ideas, + it's just easier to remind u to collect water in gutters at ground level.

    I feel bad, I'm a year late for this video. Here are a few observations from raising small quantities of hogs (roughly 150 at a time):
    The cracked corn is the second best option. A finer ground corn will result in the pigs pulling more nutrition from this feed. It is a little thing, but it makes a big difference to the pigs. Especially with your starter pigs, they will have a harder time eating this rough ground corn.
    14% protein is not enough for pigs under 70 pounds. Your first batch (250 lbs.) should have been at 18% protein, second batch at 16%. When the pigs get to 125 lbs. you can drop the ratio down to 14%.
    If your mineral additive is intended for calves, that is the wrong item to use. There are special formulas for hogs. One important mineral for pigs is selenium, it promotes nerve growth. Pigs frequently are raised either on cement or on the same dirt lot repeatedly. Pasture raised pigs get selenium from the dirt: if they don't have dirt, or the dirt is depleted of selenium, you may start loosing pigs to death at about 75 lbs. Get the right mineral supplement intended for pigs.
    I understand why you mixed the feed in your loader bucket. Try just dumping the components on the concrete and mixing them there with a scoop shovel. You will find the process goes quite a bit easier.
    Straight soybean meal is harder to find than the correct pre blended hog feed concentrate mix. That will get you the high protein ground (actually extruded) soybeans with the proper minerals already added.
    Don't substitute raw soybeans for the soybean meal. There is a enzyme in uncooked soybeans that blocks protein up take in pigs. The beans you use must be cooked to be able to use then. In the soybean industry, the beans are forced under pressure to squeeze the oil out of the bean at the same time being heated to a high enough temperature to break down the harmful enzyme in the beans.
    Get small automatic pig feeders. If you can't find them, contact your state FFA. They are on the market for the school kids raising small batches of pigs. Pigs should have feed and water available all the time. The automated pig feeders let you squeeze delivery down to only a mouthful at a time, giving the pigs something to do and limiting feed waste.

    • @cdjhyoung
      @cdjhyoung Рік тому +1

      @@akohblaise7381 I think the differences of the two formulas is because of the different parts of the world these animals are grown. I'm in Michigan, USA. Our primary feed base is ground corn and a soybean mix that contains the necessary minerals for hog growth. Dried fish or any rice product would be a high cost additive for us. The calcium, Lysine and salt are all part of the soybean concentrate we buy from a commercial maker and sold at our local farm supply store or feed mill. I think the dried fish is added for the available protein, the rice may be added as a carbohydrate substitute that is low cost to the grower.

    You can’t measure in parts you have to do it by weight. That way you can calculate the protein because volume is not equal to weight.
