When you're making it, it depends on what your animal needs. I usually add half pound of molasses for goats and sheep. For pigs, I didn't add any supplement. Commercial hog feeds are mostly 12~14% protein only, so I think 16% is sufficient for the pigs without any added supplement.
YES I agree po our health is more important so we should be careful for ourselves we must used also preventive measures for ourselves like using face musk hand gloves or any other protective gear for our selves to secure and be safe always
If you ferment your feed you can also cut cost even further. 3 parts water to 1 part feed. The grain will swell and create good probiotics and your pigs will require much less. Just a thought.
Yes I am Pilipino living in TN for 33yrs now. And applying what I've learn in our country with my father, then combined with what this state offer for better raising small animals.
Thanks for watching my video. I also fed this to my broiler chicken and if proved to be nice and cheap for finishing them before butchering. They gain weight better. I give this feed to the chicken at 30 days until butchering and they gain more weight at least 15% more. Hope you find this helpful.
thank you for watching my video. here is the exact ingredients in this specific feeds; 3 parts cracked corn, one part millet (other places called this as milo or sorghum), and one part wheat. mixed it all together and it's ready for feeding.
If you have access to fish, this should be dried. Moreover, you should take out the soy beans and replace it with dried fish (any fish is good). Supply the hogs with more water since the fish tend to be salty and they need more water in their system/guts. This will help them to gain more weight and leaner unlike the corn and soybeans they gain weight but the fat is more than than muscles. This is what my father did when we have an access to dried fish. Thanks for watching my videos.
You all prolly dont give a damn but does someone know of a trick to log back into an instagram account?? I was stupid lost my password. I appreciate any help you can offer me
@Quincy Augustus i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site on google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff now. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
Yes I did. For awhile I'm doing this way then I found a sale in Harbor Freight Tools for 3cubic feet mixer for less than $200.00 and now it's a lot easier for me to mix my feeds. :)
Oo, perfect ang sapal ng soya beans. Ang dami ay dapat 10%. Sa bawat 50kg. 5kg ang dami. too much is not good either since too much crude protein can impair their growth. Thanks for watching my video, kabayan.
Very very interesting video. I'm curious: do you add any water to your pigs feed at mealtime or do you feed it to them dry? I've seen it done both wet and dry and I'm just wondering what the benefit is either way - or if it makes a difference?
I soak the feeds at least overnight to ferment them. There's benefits of that; one, it becomes easier to the pigs to digest them, two, it serves as probiotic and aid them to combat minor diseases. Or better yet, but not claiming it, some people said the pigs has more antibodies so they didn't have any health issues. The feeds when they it dry, most of the time they waste some of the feeds since pigs nodge them and when it spill from the manger most of the time they don't eat it anymore. So I conclude that it's better to wet/soak them with plenty of water and when fermented before feeding them, they like it better. Thanks for watching my videos.
@@tmtx7 That is exactly what I would think, that adding water - or soaking the feed - would be better in so many ways, but I only have limited knowledge and no hands-on experience with pigs.Thank you for explaining it so thoroughly to me. I love animals of all kinds and I love to learn everything I can about them. I'm a very new subscriber of yours and I enjoyed your video today. I'm looking forward to watching and learning alot more.
sir would love to try your mixture... we no choice this time,, commercial feeds is so expensive. Raisers must try other alternative in order to survive in the hog industry.. especially this pandemic time, it is really at survival level.. should find ways reduce feed cost
Good for you, you have a place like that in your area. Here where I live no such place so I have to make my own to save money. By calculating my feeds amount it came out $188.00 a thousand pounds plus labor, yours is cheap and no labor on your part. Thanks for watching my video.
Hi sir, i am not really familiar with some of the feeds you have mixed..i only get millet and cracked corn, can you jot down the others for me please..... coz i also want to try mixing....
you also need soy beans and wheat. that's what I told in some of my videos, it depends where you live the availability of the grains. sorry but unless you tell me what is available in your specific area i can not tell you how to substitute the grains. you got to let me know what you got
YES it's true it will depend where you stay coz what I've known here there's no available wheat grain in our place so let's used what is ready for our area but we can used also other protein source of grains which is needed to our farm animals@@tmtx7
it doesn't matter what ingredients you put it in as long as you get at least 16% crude protein. the feed concentrate shows how much crude protein in it. i have a grinder that i grind the big kernels of grains, at least it needs to be cracked so the animals can get the most of the nutrients.
Ok that is a good video, you have the vision but you are half way of saving money in food, first you need plastic buckets or drums where you can put all those feeds like that at the time of mixing will be easier for you to mix it,if you have land start planting your own corn and beans, you not only will use the corn and beans if not that you will use the plants also, you will not waste nothing, you will need a shaffer machine to reduce the beans and corn plants like grains, any grass that the pigs like to eat you will cut it with the shaffer and you will add some ripe bananas or coconut for add some flavor then put all in one small pelletizer machine and make your own pellets and save it in plastics containers for storage!!
Hi sir, your preparation is promising... I wonder if you can give us the specific brand of the following mixtures and where to buy those: the MILLET and the wheat. I will be more than happy to hear from you soonest... thank you...
Thanks for watching my video Dennis, this is the most question I ask, I believe you're from the Philippines which is my native country. But anyways, all of these grains are from my local farm supply (I live in the USA) and here you can buy it in almost all farm supply. The problem in the Philippines is, it's really hard to find those grains (if there is one that sells them). Millet, I think you can find it, it called BATAD of SORGHUM, wheat I doubt you can buy it there. Sorry for that but there is nothing wrong to ask from the feed stores or farm supply store.
Miriam Macharia Yes, I did not show it in this video, but I add three-quarter of the same can I use to measure is the soy bean meal concentrate which you can also buy in feed store. Additionally I add one quart of animal mineral. I do not grind this since the hogs can chew them to eat. When I make my own chicken feed I grind them for easier digestion of nutrients. Thanks for watching my video.
soy beans is the fourth one. i know it might be hard for some to find all the grains i mention in this video and as i said i am lucky enough that in my area, i can buy them in our farm cooperative supplier and they are very cheap, only four dollars for a fifty pound bag which is about ten cents a pound. and this soy beans is the one that promote growth and build muscles to the pigs.
thank you for watching my video. here is the exact ingredients in this specific feeds; 3 parts cracked corn, one part millet (other places called this as milo or sorghum), and one part wheat. mixed it all together and it's ready for feeding.
I have three goats and, you know goats eat almost everything and they love this feed. Yes, they eat it but I didn't see much difference in the growth, they look healthy but weight gain-wise? I don't see much.
Respected sire, I have just started my small pig farm ( 4- 6 pigs) can you provide me some of your feed formula sir , in this year planning to grow maize or corn .
Thank you for watching my video. Depending on where you live, the grains you need are corn, millet (or milo, or sorghum), wheat grains and soy beans. Four basic grains but give most of the nutrients they need to grow and gain weight. Corn is the base of the feeds you're trying to make. It is 40 pounds or if you are using kilos, same measurements. I live in the USA and we are using pounds as weight measurement. So I will give the weight in pounds and just do it in kilos as the same number. Corn; 40 pounds, Milo, Wheat (grains) and Soy Beans are 10 pounds each per batch. Mix them together and the feeds are ready to give to your pigs. As they grow, you have to add more corn for heavier body weight. That is on the eight week old. Make the corn 50 pounds and the same weight/quantity for the other grains. until they are ready for selling/butchering. Hope this will help you.
I buy it from farmer's cooperative. If you live in rural to semi rural areas they usually have farmer's co-op and they usually have all the grains you need to make this simple hog feeds.
Yes, I'm from the Philippines, living here in the United States for 30years. My father when I’m growing up raised pigs and chickens to supplement our income. It help me to develop these ideas of making hog and chicken feeds, now that I live here in the US everything I need to make the feeds better is here, I can get all the grains and mineral for the best animal feeds my animal need. Try to check my other video for chicken feed, here is the link: ua-cam.com/video/3s0njWgBUpw/v-deo.html. in this video I even put the protein content of each grain I use to get the right daily protein the chicken needs, this chicken feed is good from one day old chick up to the time they lay egg. Unfortunately, I have no idea if you can get the grains it need to make the feeds there in the Philippines. The hog feeds, you’re right this feed I made is good to feed to hogs from after weaning to market size/weight. When I sold my hogs they weigh 200lbs (a little shy of 100kg) after less than five months. Thanks for watching my video.
What I did is I always do add plenty of water into it and they enjoy it. It's easier for them to eat and not chocking, if you have access to molasses it's even better to add a bit so the mash will have more taste and flavor for them to enjoy. Besides the molasses is very nutritious for the animal and lots of mineral that help them to be more healthy and common health issues are always at bay, ie., colds. Thanks for watching my video and if you enjoy my videos, please thumbs up and subscribe.
Here is the exact measurement, and this is only for grower/fattener. This is consist of 12% Crude Protein (based on USDA analytic), 34.5lbs cracked corn, 4.5lb milo (or sorghum), 5lb wheat and 6lb soy beans. Hope you can get these ingredients since base on your ;location there is different grains you can substitute in each but the corn can not be substituted since if you substitute it it will be more expensive. Thanks for watching my video.
The good thing in this feeds is it is grower/finisher. I use it from two month old pigs up to four months until selling/butchering. The actual weight gain is from 25-30lbs piglets to 175-200lbs at four months. Thanks for watching my video.
Here in pinas mini mix ko lang yung 50 kilos pre mix feed then hahaluan ko ng 50 kilos corn in pellet forms na kasi may makina kami , cheaper and profitable,
@@markzaldyawa9056 Good that you mention about moringa, beware of using/putting too much of it, if you put too much it can jolt the growth of your hogs and they will become susceptible to disease, I say that since when I'm still in the Philippines it happen to my hogs. You should never feed them more than a kilo per head per day. But it's up to you depending on your experience on raising hogs.
@@markzaldyawa9056 Which ones are the available grains? A lot of kababayans is asking me how to make the feeds and they told me some grains are not readily available in their area.
Kung ang alaga mong baboy ay ilan lang, ang the best ay tulad ng ginawa ko sa video. Walang timbang (three is to one), three part corn, one part wheat, one part sorghum. Kung marami kang baboy at talagang piggery and alaga mo, dapat specific weight, it's a bit complicated but worth the labor (if you can find the ingredients there in our country). There exact weights are: 50lbs (or kilos) cracked corn, 14.4lbs soybean meal, 1.6lbs swine base mix, 10lbs whole grain wheat, 10lbs whole grain sorghum (or batad in tagalog where I live in Nueva Ecija before, we call it batad). Mix them all together and soak in water twice it's volume, feed it after overnight soaking and you'll see how fast you pigs will grow. Base on what I'm doing, the pigs weight after only 110days at the butcher shop, they weigh 275lbs or 125kilos each. Good luck finding the ingredients.

@@tmtx7 10% of the total feed mix ? They claim that azola contains 20-25% cp and essential vitamins. Does this figure aint't enough to grow your piggy?
@@peterpeter6925-y1k There's a big difference in terms of crude protein. soybean meal (not the soy beans) has 48% per bushel, whereas the azolla has 22.48%, though you can not consider by looking on the difference in crude protein. There are other elements/nutrients need to consider. And the reason you better go on smaller amount of azolla is because of these other nutrients. Some compound in azolla are not giving your animals the proper nutrients they need, on the other hand since you are mentioning soybean meal, they are already been processed and strip off the primary oils and protein from them, then the point is it is more nutrient ready to consume by the animals. here are the links for both: Azolla: ~ jebas.org/Jou.Exp.Bio.Agr.Sci/00400613112016/10.18006_2016.4(Issue6).670.674.pdf Soybean Meal: ~ www.ingredients101.com/soybeanml.htm And still the soy beans in it's raw and dry form gives a different nutrients; personally I use soy beans in raw form, I live in states that harvest soy beans every year and they are cheap for the money. Thanks for your input.
@@peterpeter6925-y1k Yes but you have to consider, your pigs should not be fed by azolla alone. It is only served as added nutrients. And remember anything that is too much is not good to anything.
replace sorghum with rice bran/darak, with the same amount of sorghum. the coconut should be in moderate amount since it tend to induce too much fat in the meat of the hogs and the buyer once they found out they avoid to buy your pigs because of too much fat rather than muscle/meat
Sir, kung ang crude protein should at least be 16% ano naman po ang maximum? Kasi too much cp is also not good right? Thank you po sir and all the best!
Maximum cp should not exceed 20%, even at 20% you're no longer saving money it will become too expensive. The other downside is they grow too fast and their bones can not bear they're own weight and become prone in breaking when they slip, then you get more problem. thanks for watching my video.
Sorry. Each tub of corn weighs 4.2lbs; wheat weighs 5lbs; sorghum weighs 6lbs, sorry I live in the USA and we use pounds in measuring weights, and every 2.2lbs is one kilograms.
@@tmtx7 its okay..thank you by the way for replying to my question I have another question Sir did you compute the total crude protein of the feeds your mix?lets say you formulate 100kgs of feeds, how many percent of Crude Protein does it contain?I am actually teaching right now for swine production and our topic is all about feed formulation
Go to my other video I explain everything in that video though it's a chicken feed but it's basically the same. By tomorrow I will send you how I get the crude protein in each grain. @@fairytale4083 Based on USDA analysis, this mix of grain contains exactly 16% crude protein and that's all you need for your growing pigs. My pigs eat this all the time and in four months they weigh 275lbs (125kg) and I'm telling you, they are big.
it depends on how big/old your pigs are. but first month they eat at least one pound a day, on the second month they eat about two pounds a day, on the third month it jump to four pounds a day, and on the fourth month they eat six pounds a day. you got to remember, this numbers may vary either more or less and the amount is per day and you have to divide it into how many times you feed them in a day. a word of advise; i soak the feeds into two and a half amount of water to to feeds. let say your five pounds of feeds is one gallon you have to add two and a half gallon of water and let it sit at least six hours before feeding them, so if you give the feeds in the morning it should be soak the night before and once you fed them soak another batch for their next meal. hope this will help. thanks for watching my video.

24% animal feeds are used/fed for the animals that is getting ready to butcher/sell. They use this kind of feeds to gain weight in general usually six weeks before slaughtering, for more weight when sold.
Thanks for watching my video. Yes I did feed my pigs with the vegetables I am growing, those are about to be overgrown and those that I can not consume. It's a good supplement for their foods and save a little since the vegetables are already been planted and reaping its produce. But anyways, it really helps to their health and they grow better and gain more weight
I remember when I'm still young from my father's farm, he use to do that. What I remember is the pigs are slow growing but the are very lean, very little fat, and that time instead of butchering them within xis to nine months, he butcher them a year old or more since they are slow growing but the meat is more delicious than feeding with the grains ans most of he time, the feed that you can buy nowadays have hormone added. But good luck and enjoy the better meat. Thanks for watching my video.

So you're still using 1/6th of the feed I'm not sure how that feed works out on price and performance. Let's say you're making 50lbs of feed that's 25# of corn then 8# of wheat millet and 24% commercial hogfeed (yest that adds to 49#, but whole numbers make the math easier. So the corn is $2.50. I can't imagine that you were getting the wheat and millet for less than $7 at the time so that's $1.12 each for $4.74 and the $18 commercial feed (though I suspect this more concentrated feed costs more) so that comes to $2.88 or a total of $7.62 for 49#. But looking at protein cracked corn is generally 6%, 12% for millet and wheat and 24% for commercial concentrate that's 1.5# from corn .96# from millet and wheat, and 1.92# from commercial feed or a total of 5.22#/49 or 10.6% protein. That protein missing from their diets. isn't going to help them grow more quickly.

If you have a computer, you can google all grains you want to find out the crude protein. I mention 'crude protein' since it is the basis of finding the protein (nutrients) in grains. Just google "How many crude protein in (let say Corn) and it will give you so many sites that give the analysis of corn. The one I'm using is the Department of Agriculture since they study all grains' crude protein extensively. Then once you get all the CP% value of any grain available to your area (usually it will give you the value of each in bushel measurement), then you can calculate how much each grains is needed to attain the sixteen per cent (%) usually needed for the animals you're having. Depending on what animal you have, you need to find out how much CP% they need to for optimum grown and health to avoid diseases. Thanks for watching my video and hope this information helps.

Thanks for watching my video. Good for you and me, :) a lot of people that have small animals rely on the animal feed suppliers. Which in some aspect they still make money (if they are selling their animals), though if they make their own with a little labor of their own, they can make it a lot cheaper and more money on their pocket. And if they intend their animals for self consumption it’s better since they can save money in the long run.

Sir I want the name of mixed feeds @ exact measurements I want to try this strategy that u make
sir would love to try your mixture... we no choice this time,, commercial feeds is so expensive. Raisers must try other alternative in order to survive in the hog industry.. especially this pandemic time, it is really at survival level.. should find ways reduce feed cost
I went to the grain elevator and got an 18% protein pig feed mix. 1000 pounds bulk was $185.00
Good for you, you have a place like that in your area. Here where I live no such place so I have to make my own to save money. By calculating my feeds amount it came out $188.00 a thousand pounds plus labor, yours is cheap and no labor on your part. Thanks for watching my video.
Where I live it’s about $250 for a custom ordered 1000 pound mix but if I mix my own I can get 190 dollars per 1000 pounds
Ok sir i got it, thank you😊...
Is wheat bran good enough to replace wheat, i live in northeast India.
YES it's true it will depend where you stay coz what I've known here there's no available wheat grain in our place so let's used what is ready for our area but we can used also other protein source of grains which is needed to our farm animals@@tmtx7
I will be doing this......not sure if it will be same ingredients, but mixing/grinding your own is better and cheaper.
it doesn't matter what ingredients you put it in as long as you get at least 16% crude protein. the feed concentrate shows how much crude protein in it. i have a grinder that i grind the big kernels of grains, at least it needs to be cracked so the animals can get the most of the nutrients.
@@tmtx7 try to mix with fermented plant juice to breakdown more easier the nutrients, search more in youtube. (FPJ)
I would use less corn since your commercial feed has alot in it. Good video thx
I understand that, but you have to consider the price of the feed per pound also and this is the best or cheapest I can get.
Good day sir!
Paanu kung wala ang osang ingredient like the millet or the wheat,,anu po pde isubstitute?

Do you have protein portions included? If yes, which one. Another question, do you grind the mixture? Thanks
Thanks for watching my video.

soy beans is the fourth one. i know it might be hard for some to find all the grains i mention in this video and as i said i am lucky enough that in my area, i can buy them in our farm cooperative supplier and they are very cheap, only four dollars for a fifty pound bag which is about ten cents a pound. and this soy beans is the one that promote growth and build muscles to the pigs.

do you think this will work with a goats diet?
I appreciated your generosity and honesty sir , thanks for your information.

I think you are from the Philippines sir.just asking. For that formulation from weaning to market .thanks
Good information even for me also, thanks Sir,
do u need to put water on eat tito?
What I did is I always do add plenty of water into it and they enjoy it. It's easier for them to eat and not chocking, if you have access to molasses it's even better to add a bit so the mash will have more taste and flavor for them to enjoy. Besides the molasses is very nutritious for the animal and lots of mineral that help them to be more healthy and common health issues are always at bay, ie., colds. one part millet, one part wheat and one part 16% animal feeds. the last part is cracked corn.

Whats the diffence between the cp% of azolla to the cp% of soymeal sir thank
@@peterpeter6925-y1k There's a big difference in terms of crude protein. soybean meal (not the soy beans) has 48% per bushel, whereas the azolla has 22.48%, though you can not consider by looking on the difference in crude protein. There are other elements/nutrients need to consider. And the reason you better go on smaller amount of azolla is because of these other nutrients. Some compound in azolla are not giving your animals the proper nutrients they need, on the other hand since you are mentioning soybean meal, they are already been processed and strip off the primary oils and protein from them, then the point is it is more nutrient ready to consume by the animals.
here are the links for both:
Azolla: ~ jebas.org/Jou.Exp.Bio.Agr.Sci/00400613112016/10.18006_2016.4(Issue6).670.674.pdf

Yet you still use a animal feed in your mix. I have seen others use a livestock mineral mix. That’s the component I’d love to eliminate
it works to me so i still using it. whatever works do it. lol
tmtx7 I know but I’d love to know what I can use to replace those two ingredients
@@4philipp molasses is the other ingredient you can use, but the price is too high to use as feeds additives, if you can get it cheap you can use it as the alternative additive as ingredients. just a quart per batch mixing it slowly to the feeds. it is very thick like honey so careful when mixing, it can clump and very hard to separate once clump. a 75 or 60 lbs range from $60-$75 pail and has only around 20qts you can get.
No wheat and sorghum availble sir.. only hammered corn, darak soyameal and molasses
