CAPtain COMmando was way more than just a coincidence, he was Capcom's mascot from the mid-eighties to the early nineties.
Love your videos!
When one of the playable characters is a baby controlling a mech you know the creators were smoking something
Marko Radokicik lol
It'll be better if he replaced with some female playable character.
It's perfectly normal. I rode a mech to nursery when I was a kid 😀
Q: "What makes this beat-em up stand out?"
A: A baby in a mech-suit.
Great review! This is one I've wanted to add to my collection, yet I haven't found it for that right price.
This game is especially fun on the PS2's CAPCOM Classics collection.
Id recommend everyone play it that way. It prob cheaper to buy a ps2, both capcom classic games and 2 controllers
I have it on Xbox with the Capcom collection volume two I don’t think it’s this version though
Capcom Classic Collection on the 128-bit consoles were TRASH! They were nothing but lazy ROM dump running on emulator.
Thanks. This game is STUPID EXPENSIVE for the SNES.
@@onetwo6039 You can buy the Japanese only Playstation 1 version for even more...
As a kid I used to ride miles to play this at a burger joint, at the time I never knew it even existed for my beloved snes, if I did I would of been ecstatic.
p.s captain commando was originally a capcom mascot on nes games .
2:22 "Specially after you've had a few drinks''
I feel like SNES Drunk is lefting us out of a great story
I think his story is that he gets drunk and plays SNES games.
Cool review. Surprised this didn't get a sequel though cadillacs and dinosaurs was like that too.
It's a good port but it looks like it has the same problem as the SNES Final Fight games, a limit of three enemies at the same time on screen.
this is one of my favorite beat em ups. i wish capcom would use these characters more or make a sequel to this. it was lots of fun and a very creative game
They were toying with the idea of an animated series I think
"I mean...you can beat up ninjas and Danny Devito-s..." HA! That may be the funniest statement I have heard in the last six months.
Jett Cord "As a baby mech-robot". That's key.
I thought that guy looked like blanka from street fighter.
I Though that looked like a mix of Blanka and the last boss of Final Fight
".....and who's that.....Danny Devito" hahah.
Thank you for reviewing such a great, obscure game!! I love all of Capcom's side scrolling beat 'em ups.
You are the best! Thanks for reminding me about this game I totally forgot about it I'm going to go play it right now
This and Battle Circuit play like spiritual successors to Final Fight. You'll recognize some of the same yells from the Final Fight games and some characters have similar mechanics to them as well.
0:34 Maki from Final Fight 2 finally turned bad like Cody
would be her future descendant
This seems like the kind of game this channel was made for!
didn't expect you to cover this gem
You gotta love the Maki-looking female bad guys. ;)
Good thing you mention the drinks, one night a friend and i played contra III alien wars on hard mode after some beers... it didn't end well for our gamer pride haha
If I had to choose my favorite beat 'em up from my childhood, would be this one and TMNT III. fantastic games and catchy sountracks.
Captain Commando is my childhood game,it always worth going all the way to the end to hear Captain Commando voice. :D
thank you for the review great job, i love this game
I loved the PS1 version, and I think that one had the mechs in it.
I remember playing the arcade as a kid and being shocked at the violence.
Hey man is there any way you could review Super Adventure Island 1 and 2? I wasn't a huge fan of the 1st one but the 2nd one is a fantastic game that I think was missed by a lot of people.
I love Captain Commando!
So happy I got the Capcom Beat’Em Up Bundle!
another great video!
I never played this until I picked up a retrocade last year. This game is rad as shit
this game has awful music because they had to compress the shit out of it to fit the rest of that cool stuff in the game
Awesome! New beat em up to try. :)
1:19 - I recognize that monster. It looks almost exactly like the Heedra from "Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind"
Thanks for doing this review -- this has been a game I never really paid attention to. I think I might have to change that :). Gonna keep an eye out for it from now on.
Thanks for watching Steven
+SNES drunk I had a buddy with the arcade cabinet in his garage good fun
I had this game as a child. It kind of weirded me out. But I have fond memories of it.
This game is featured on the Capcom beat ‘em up bundle for XBO and PS4!
“Shtrom Jr.”?
1:19 I swear there are monsters just like that in the Nausicaa manga
Ssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssnes drunk.
I like the Arcade Port better but when I was able to find the SNES version for $30 back in 2010, I was very happy to grab it.
Hi i like your videos man, have any thoughts to make ps1drunk?? Thanks
0:12 SAXOPHONE ON A SURFBOARD
First game I ever beat on hard mode.
I mean...this game also takes place in Metro City....and there is even a points item pick up that is just a Mike Haggar bust...
Cool game I just got it for PS4 tonight.
I WISH there were more beat'em ups that take hours to finish, 30-40 minutes is really just way too short for quality sidescrolling beat'em'ups. Thankfully, there's a lot to choose from and play.
Try the Kunio Kun games for Super Famicom (requires English patches), especially the prequel to River City Ransom. Lots of story and dialogue, long playthrough, gets real dark
Thanks, I'll check them out! Always glad to find more beat'em'ups, got to say that discovering MAME really opened up a whole new world with that genre but still lot to discover on SNES and Megadrive I bet :)
1:25 it's blanka before the steroids .
So this is basically capcom’s parodius
I'm eyeing superfamicom version right now
From the makers of Sergeant Squadron, Lieutenant Legion and General Guerilla.
What's the price of this cartridge in usa? Only the game without the box, here's 10 dolars value, is worth the money?
I remember playing the original in the arcade, when I was a kid. The mechs are so much fun, I would really recommend playing an emulator for this one and not the snes port.
"CAPtain COMmando? Hmm"
amazing game
You should start covering snes like indie games and talk about how they would have translated in that era.
I think I have it laying around somewhere. Bought it cheap on eBay before the prices went crazy.. Or atleast I hope I did maybe I'm confusing it with another game..
I'm thinking streets of rage, there's even a Blanka looking guy that's named Strom jr. and I'm not positive but I think there is a Blanka looking guy in rage named storm...I could just be mixing up names.
There's quite a few recycled assets from Final Fight - it might even be the same continuity
hey @snesdrunk review this SFC game BISYOKUSENTAI BARA YARO is a beaten up too
It's great, but give me ninja baseball batman!
It's better on the Capcom Classics Collection Vol. 2 on Xbox/Ps2. That collection also has arcade ports of Knights of the Round, Magic Sword and King of Dragons for SNES among many other good Capcom arcade games.
And it'll save you a ton of cash as other than Magic Sword, the rest on SNES go for tons of money now. Plus there's a Japanese PS1 port of Captain Commando, but it's $200 for a copy, no thanks, though the port is alright, but has a little slowdown.
This game has always kicked my ass in the end
The garter belts from the electric girls! Nooo!
2:53 That's weird ... I bought the cartridge for only € 20.00, which is not that expensive for an old game like this. It was probably cheaper because Pal games are cheaper (?). Ah and yes, I bought the original cartridge, not a fake-bootleg or something.
I honestly wished Capcom made a bionic commando game on super nintendo
Strange to not mention it went from 4 player to 2 player for you mate. You usually note that.
the controls are a little bit slower than those of Cadillacs and Dinosaurs, otherwise I'd enjoy playing it as much as I did back in the 90.
Captain fire! Captain fire! Captain fire! Captain fire!
"I am Captain Commando " :D
Captain Collider!
i didn't play with someone i played solo and it was kinda hard to beat but in the end i won
Danny devito haha!
the fighting moves are kinda limited
the weapons make up for it till a certain degree, but it remains a bit repetitive
it gets a bit boring, especially in the long run
i prefer all the three Streets of Rage games to this one,
much more variety
pietje bel variety how?
oh look at this game... I never even heard about it before. My guess is that PAL territories got screwed. We got screwed alot.
It did get a PAL release but it was very limited and because it is a good game highly sought after, it goes for heaps. The Super Famicom cart is also expensive.
you could emulate the mame game which is better
Nah, this game is great
I just feel the gameplay doesnt flow well if that makes any sense.
Crack, Crack, Crack, Crack with some Smack is my choice
one of the things that arcade version does better is music
impressive port, sadly stiff controls ruin this experience
doing combos on multiple enemies make you suffer input delays so enemies can get a free hit, grappling works but if it gets interrupted by an enemy then your sandwiched on the spot since enemies get some I-frames for like a brief moment
monster boss is somehow more worse now, in the arcade all you had to do was perfor rush attacks, snes now wants you to perform grapples instead (the captain's flamethrower does make it for it)
still if you look past stiff controls it's a decent home port, bosses are now easier too (excluding the monster boss/monster with 3 eyes), it's also one of those games where you have to beat it in hard to see the true ending
it's hard to recommend for how butchered it is
haven't had an input delay problem, you sure that's not just emulation issue? It's the most responsive double-tap-to-dash I've played on SNES (more so than TMNT), which makes it much quicker. Animations are bit stiff but I don't find it plays too stiff.
@@bobslobbins2864 Could be on my end but the game still feels incredibly stiff compared to its arcade counterpart.
I've tried doing a 1cc on it but it's mostly the controls that make it hard for me do really.
@@MrCoconuts64_Lum69 it's a little stiffer but I just compared them side by side, and the main thing is missing animation frames that make it look stiffer than it feels to me. It's not a great port, I just find it solid enough and maintains most of what made the original fun. Can't attest to how it does for a 1CC run, not my wheelhouse...I was also surprised that the arcade music also kinda sucks, which I thought was purely the SNES port's fault.
@@bobslobbins2864 The music for the snes isn't half bad really. I will say that yes, it's a decent port but I'd like to bring up final fight since that was a semi-ok part. The Guy version actually since that fixed all the slowdown and stiffness.
Final fight guy is a very decent port, it's still missing the industrial area but it plays better and smoother than captain commando
Imorten Joe 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
"...lsd, crack, or mushrooms..." One of these things is not like the others.
Probably not for it's $120-130 price tag physically.
campy fun ? will my but hurt after playing this ?
tommykesh lmao
Too bad goes for an average of $175 now
Sorry but the arcade is much better!
Blood and gore ???
I've checked ..there is no such stuff .(in the arcade game)..sadly
Mack straight up slices his opponents in two.
The whole censorship the game got from the arcade just made it so dissapointing...
Jonesing?
You think this is crazy? Clearly you haven't played Battle Circuit
I did, two years after this video. ua-cam.com/video/EzG2uURkJ_M/v-deo.html
piece of shit game, knights of the round, final fight one and two, turtles in time, super double dragon, battletoads double dragon, batman returns, rival turf, sonic blastman are all better than this horrible game
SNES arcade games are mostly trash. Get the arcade versions on Sega Saturn or PS1.
