- Be sure to watch last year's video where I made a 45mm lens:
• DIY Camera lens (45mm ...
Although the pictures are far better than the ones from the 45mm lens, it would still not be a lens suitable for everyday usage. The lens is quite bulky, the lack of autofocus and the very dark aperture really aren't optimal. Nevertheless, it was definitely a worthy experience to build something like this from scratch. It taught me a lot about the inner workings of cameras and lenses and their properties as well as challenges.
If you want to 3d-print a copy of your own, I have uploaded a Thingiverse project with all the necessary files and print settings:

Your better at modeling than me :)
Pretty amazing that you even commented in the first place. Really appreciate it. Means a lot to me as a small creator.
@@diyowl5496 I can help you guys with the iris cad.onshape.com/documents/d988cdcd49de9b1a6c7e70ae/w/460602e2bd9ecfcd74dbb57b/e/6ca88ae962acf1fa20a6b631
@@thefrenchmachinist8957 I would love to see more in action. Any video on 3d printing this iris?
And spelling : )
Image quality is better than some professional made kit lenses I seen. Good job!
Thanks! I appreciate your comment!
man this is incredible imagine if wee could do 3d printed teleobjectif ? that would awesom to have something like that for a cheap price
You were right for our filming stile! You have a new sub! Very good content!
Thanks a lot. I really do appreciate it!
good for low budget photographers who wants to try out this focal lenses!
What would be needed to make this lens even better? More precision in manufacturing? I have no idea, but the Quality is insane for a 3d print 👍
I just watched a video why it's so hard. Im even more impressed by this lens now
@@michi18 Thanks mate!
damn this is very cool, you are my inspiration and im currently building my own diy lens for fun, i will make it out if 3 elements and it should be around 150mm but i do not have a mirrorless camera as i sold my sony a6000 because it was quite expensive for me and i didnt need such a great camera so now im thinking of buying something like the sony nex 6
Go for it! The nex 6 is a great camera.
At F/42 You do not need any optics - the lens is more like camera obscura at this f-stop.
Not really. The opening of the aperture is actually around 5mm (way bigger than the pinhole you mentioned). The formula for calculating the aperture is quite useless for these single-element lenses. So this ''f42" should be taken with a grain of salt.
@@diyowl5496 I think he was joking. Cool project!
I love this. If you have any ressource about designing and making these I’d love to hear about it !
Thank you! I have uploaded the project files on Thingiverse, but as I have written in the description, I did the project primarily as a proof of concept. Glad you you enjoyed it!
Wow such quality content. I love you😍😍😍
Absolutely insane... Christ I'd like to do that
Thanks for commenting, really appreciate it! Good luck if you ever try doing it, it isn't that hard :)
Great filmmaking!
The audio 😍

It's just an estimate, but yes- around 175mm.
Weri naisss! Subscribed!
Thanks!!
Wow
Hey ! Great work ! One of my dream is to DIY equivalent ! Just where did you buy lenses ? I planed to DIY it in Clear Epoxy but...
Hi. Thanks a lot for commenting! I got the lenses from a pair of old binoculars, however, it would be very interesting to cast some from clear resin.
What about the glasses? Any link?
Where did you buy lens? can it be 3d printed? Can stabilization in lens possible? Are you interested in reverse engineering and making products?
Thanks for commenting. First of all, stabilization is simply way to complicated to put together in a 3d printed. As for the lens, I took it apart from an old binocular. And yes, it can be 3d printed! You would need a special transparent filament to make it work. I would recommend going with a glass lens, it would save you a lot of work and the results afterwards would be a lot cleaner, sharper and better.
can you maybe also make a canon mount for it?
Well, I don't own a Canon camera, so any designs I make won't be tried and tested.
@@diyowl5496 can you tell me wich parts need to be redesigned for a canon camera😁
@@joennespreuwersThe overall length has to be shorter. The lens mount has to be specifically for a canon camera.
can i use a lens with 150mm focal length?
Yes, absolutely no problem. Remember to design it in a way, where the lens is 150mm away from the sensor with +- 10mm of movement for focus. Good luck!
Красавчег 👌👍
which printer you are using?
Anycubic i3 MEGA
Велико е!!!😍😍😍😍
Bro for iphone what lens need to make 2-3x or 65-85mm?
Good lenses are cheap, just buy one. Or, maybe this video is more about the music.
I said something similar in the description- this project was meant to be educational. This isn't a lens that I normally use, as it is bulky and the image quality is quite poor.
