What would be the dream adapter ?
All the links to the adapter are in the description
I will share some cool stuff on Instagram so join me there : instagram.com/mathieustern/
m42 extension tube made of 24k gold
My dream adapter has built in electronics, combined with its own setting ring.
I can connect the adapter to my computer, and program what lens its mounted on.
And through the setting ring, I can manually transfer exif data to my pictures.
Come on, you know you like it ! 😊
Speedbooster to use a Kodak Aero Ektar lens on a full frame camera for that sweet sweet bokeh :)
Micro four thirds on Canon adapter with all contacts working so I could use my Panasonic Leica 100-400 on my Canon EOS 5D mk2.
An adapter that allows me to put old lenses with names I've never heard of on my camera. I got a few at an antique store estate sale and I have zero idea what adapter might even work.
Polarized lens blew me out, such an interesting artifact
Believe it or not, I actually use polarized sunglasses to go fishing, helps a lot!
@@daviddelahoya151 me too!! It was a game changer.
It's actually not that magical. Basically, reflected lights are usually polarized but refracted lights aren't, so if you set the filter to block that specific polarization you remove the reflection.
I mean you can add a polarizing filter to any lens for the same effect
Its not really an artifact...I don't know a single photographer who doesnt have a polarized filter in their kit.
ND filters are just 2 polarized panes of glass. Same thing.
1:00 Originally, it's meant to be a tilt/shift adapter for perspective correction and focus control. You have discovered its undocumented feature :)
Ahhh yes tiltshift one of my favourite
ahhh yes, the 2 genders, tilt and shift
Yes I came here to say this. I have this exact adaptor. It's for tilt and shift. The video showed us neither of these cool effects! At least not until the tilt adaptor. But it did show me something new to use it for, so thanks
Ahh yes remember back in the 83 when we would use photoshop to add color to our photographs
I was confuse at first
It says vintage so I assume this thing exist before digital camera, how they can use Photoshop in those era
Can someone explain why I'd want the panoramic adapter or the medium format adapter when I can just... point my camera normally to capture lots of areas and stitch it all together?
Thanks I had to look all comments to find someone smart enough to say this
I remember the first polarizing lens adaptor I got. It was from a pawn shop and cost me around $10. It was just an amazing thing that I used with my oldschool Sony DSC-S50. Don't even know where either of them are at this point.
That Stretch macro focus adapter looks insanely useful. I really want to use my vintage lenses for my toy photography work, but its always such a pain fiddling with extension tubes trying to find the right length. Looking at Fotodiox's selection though, I'm not seeing any models that match my mounts :/
It's weird to me there aren't more adjustable macro tubes like that
have u invested in a macro lens yet after 6 months of posting this comment? 😂
@@AlexanderRay92 OM had a variable ext-tube 40 years ago.
The rubber adapter is so crazy. Looks ridiculous, but makes such cool Effects. I wonder how hard it is to use. 🤨
You call that flappy, HARD?!🤪
We used to make these out of the rubber seals that go around the wheel steering joints in cars. 1 gasket/seal, 1 old body cap drilled out, one lens rear cap drilled out, couple of hose clips and some hot glue. Looked messy on the outside but it worked and for under $15
What a great video with some cool adapters. You're making me want to get more lenses and adapters now, I've spent so much on camera gear already.
XD
Glad it was helpful!
I have the ND fusion with built in 1-8 stop VND for my L mount cameras. I love it. I have been thinking about the tilt and the polarizer ones for some fun shots
The last one kinda blew my mind, never thought that merging pictures was actually possible-now I gotta start using Photoshop 😂
Ah yes, merging in photoshop, such a vintage idea! Love the rubber adapter effect, get's some psychedelic vibes!
Расскажи пожалуйста как быстро свести два фото панорамы в одно, никогда не видел такого метода. Это Фотошоп?
I don't understand what's the point of the panorama and the full format adapters for today's cameras: the only function they had was to make it easier to stitch films, but since you are using Photoshop algorithm anyway, why bother using a cumbersome extension, when you could just take the pictures?
The thumbnail is like "that happens to some men..."
Didn't know photography was this much interesting. Subscribed.
Glad you enjoyed!
Ok, now attach them ALL together in a huge adapter-chain & see what kind of images you get? ;P
i cant recommend that tilt adapter, it nakes fine metal dust that can end on the sensor, because it is metal on metal when dialing the ring minut 2.25 in the video
Had a Vizelex Polar Throttle on my A7C, and the results were not too shabby. Unfortunately it tended to become loose during normal operation, there seems to have been a problem with the locking mechanism between adapter and camera. That may have been a fault of the individual copy I bought, but I ultimately decided to return it.
Oh wow. Never been so early to one of your videos. This is a good opportunity to let you know that I love and appreciate the content you put out. You're amazing.
You're the best Sherif !
Genius thumbnail! But the adapter can actually make for some great and unique shots!
Haha, I hope the thumbnail doesn't get censured :))
Ah, good to see Destin is a fan!
A mini flex from my side :)
@@MathieuStern Well deserved! Your content stands out.
@@MathieuStern which video was this from?
What did you use to take the last photos? (from 5:25)
nice adapters, thinking about getting the rubber one
These are all fascinating. I'd heard of tilt shift before because I'm into time lapse technology, but my favourite was the rubber bellow. Such a unique tool!
That vintage panorama lens is stunning
I have a cool adapter that lets me use my binoculars as lenses for a D800 body. Quality is not great but it's fun for experimentation. Thanks for showing me so many new options to me.
I need to try that RhinoCam Vertex adapter! Looks awesome. Specially for portraits. Cheers from Mexico Mathieu!
What lens did you use on the last square redhead photo? The bokeh is very unusual
Here to ask the same question, it's really weird to just post those two photos with no context?
I thought the shift adapter is quite useless since it only supports APS cameras, but now I saw that the lens can cover a panaroma. Definitely gonna try it myself. I wish there’s a way to quickly test how big a lens can cover though.
You can find on the internet what the image circle of a lens is for a lot of them.
My dream adapter would be a speedbooster to use a Kodak Aero Ektar lens on a full frame camera for that sweet sweet bokeh :)
Very interesting adapters and what a joy it is to sit back and have them all demonstrated in such a pleasing video. Thank you for your efforts and the superb job you did creating the best possible footage for the demonstrations, as well as the video editing, choice in music etcetera. Just brilliant and thanks for sharing!!
Thank you! Nice effects I knew of but didn't know there were adapters to make them easier to do! Will that TS adapter give the miniature look to landscapes too?
Is the swirly bokeh at 5:26 from a Helios lens?
Polar Throttle will be very useful on older lenses where the entire front assembly rotates with focus. Pola filter on such a lens must be readjusted constantly. Polar Throttle solves it!
Weird? Crazy? One is a normal Polarizingfilter, one is a classic Tilt/Shift Adapter, one is a variable Extension Tube,... Ah okay and that last one is a cheap dangling Rubber Tube.
3:33 A: "How do you go find sunken pirate-ship treasure in the ocean? " B: "I'll use the fish finder." A: "How is that even possible?" B: "Simple..you set it for GOLDfish."
I'm getting that m42 tilt shift immediately, thanks Matthieu!
Good choice!
When I saw the rubber adapter, I thought, what kind of crap is that? But then my jaw dropped. Absolutely amazing photos.
Thank you so much for sharing! Great video creation congratulations! Fantastic creative solutions! Super good music background! I wish you and everyone another successful day in strength, health and peace!
👍🍀🇭🇺🌞☝️
Cool adapters. I thought this was going to be like "yeah these were only sold in Russia in the 1950's now they sell for $2000", but links in the description. Nice.
Super! Thanks for sharing! Great video creation! Super informative lens tutorial! Good day!
👍🍀🇭🇺🌞☝️
wow thats really cool
Thank you. A great video Photodiox pro panoramic i go for it
At 2:17, the tilt shift is from the world of plate cameras where you would have a situation where you wanted, say, the plane of focus to be some railway lines and your camera is on its tripod with the film plane vertical. If you draw a line from the film plant so that it goes through the plane of focus (the railway lines) then you make your the plane from your lens go through that same point they will all be in focus (once you have focussed it, of course) The lens' plane goes normal to the axis of the lens, the same distance from the centre of your image as the focal lens so if you have retrofocal or telefocal lenses, they have to use tat focal length and not the distance from the back of the lens to your film plane.
A lot of this stuff dates back to the days of plate cameras where the bellows would be analogous to these adapters - bag bellows, for instance being equivalent to your rubber thing.
Have fun, it is what photography is about and understanding what is going on helps you to have more fun.
I have MD Minolta 35-70 f/3.5 macro 1:4 , really want that Fotodiox mount. But it is really rare in Vietnam
i don't know dude, i got tears on my eyes when i see your photo 4:29.. its so beautiful, i never feel like this before. i never ever once have something i really really like in my life.. thanks for the amazing video. and thanks for giving me this feeling. you are amazing,.. your art, your photo is amazing. God Bless You. i'm a videographer, and after seing this, it is making me wants to seek deeper on what can i do and how can i experess my imagination even more to a video.. Thank you so much.. 🙌🙌🥹
Ok now I need throttle adapters. The bad thing with those and speed boosters is you have to have mismatched lenses. Nobody makes ef to ef anything which is crazy.
I wonder what the sliding adapter would look like through video. Could it be some sliding effect? The rotating adapter might be interesting too...
Maybe, if you turn (pan) the camera while you shift the slider in the opposite direction you can start with a perspective-corrected view where lines are parallel and have the perspective lines grow more and more convergent. I think such an effect might look interesting if you could do it vertically, to have a building appear taller and more imposing. Something like a vertigo effect, except it's the perspective lines that are moving.
Also, only shifting the lens while keeping the camera still would give you a parallel-moving panoramic view.
oh wow that medium format adapter is super interesting in use, especially for portraiture~ thanks for showing these off~ these are super cool!
My pleasure!
@Mathieu Stern is there anyway to het that rubber billow/tilt shift thing effect on a system camera? I love your videos but I shoot with a Sony a7 III and I was wondering how you got those dreamy circular bokeh portraits in the forrest
Most of those lenses are no longer needed because photo editing programs will duplicate the same desired results, but the built in polarizer which captures fish on the surface of a pond is definitely a lens adapter I would love to get, as it does a better job than your typical screw on UV filter at cutting the haze and reflection on the water.
I didn’t even know there was a shift adapter! That looks awesome!
How do you make this strong bokeh effect with this sense of zooming in the last 2 photos?
Anyone know which adapter gave the effect at 05:25 was that the medium format one? I couldn't tell exactly which one that was from
I would love to see the medium format lens on a sensor shift camera so you’re taking 600 mega pixel photos
Macro adapter rings and polarizers are trivial photo asessories.
Why didn't you show T-adapters for use telescope as lens ?
Does anyone know where that picture of the two lighthouses near the end is? It looks like Kenosha, WI.
Thank you for the nice video Mathieu 😊
For tilt shift adapter it is better use medium format lenses, to avoid vignette and bad performance on the ages, I love Photodiox tilt shift with Mamiya lenses.
Vertex is absolutely amazing adapter, I bought it after your video, once they released Mamiya 645 adaptor to nikon Z.
After about a half year I am managing making my daughter's portraits even if she moves a lot, just remove any straps and L brackets from camera so you can rotate it very fast...🤣👌still it is a challenge though...
Great... More equipment to resist to buy immediately 😭
Love the panoramic, polarized & medium format ones!
A better use of the FOTGA tilt shift is for Scheimpflug effect, if the lens has the coverage for it.
You must be in your 20s. All your pictures are digital and you think this is vintage.
That ROKR adapter is super versatile... one use for a future video is to shoot straight into a mirror but hide the camera off to the side ; )
Okay, I’ll speak it out. This thumbnail looks like erectile disfunction.
The built in polarizer is really cool. I love my cpl filter, but having it hang in front of the lens is just annoying. Especially if your front element rotates while focussing.
2:08 The same dude appears in the photo twice... Matrix confirmed ahaha Nice video! I had no idea some of those adapters existed!
Absolutely awesome man! Your timing in your uploads lately to my current point in photography helps alot man keep it up!🙏🏾love you're videos!
Happy to help!
Failing to see how the panoramic where you have to edit it actually works that looks way too complicated
Using a tilt shift.... but not using it for the tilt shift effect? I demand a miniature city!
How do you rotate something and take multiple pictures without moving it or something
the lens that could filter reflections was kinda cool
the rest wel i hate blur effects so yeah there you got my answer on them
The second one seems like a gimmick, you could do the same thing with any normal lens on a tripod
Hi what’s the set up at 5:26 ?
Would love to hear you talk about all of them instead of the background music 😊
what is the last 2 photos taken with (lens/adapter/camera)? it looks sooo good
Love Fotodiox and the lenses
so the last one... whats the point... why not just go farther back and get the same shot
3:38 it totally looks like someone is throttling the flowrate of the creek and then opening it back up again. The polarizer is trippy!
polarizer was amazing, i was shocked for sec, it looks it was doing magic
ur voice when you interduce that medium format lense is really similar to ezar millers voice
Polarizers also make sky darker in particular sun-related directions.
Its not about what you need it about what you have and i have none and still watching..
Tu pense pas faire un test de la nouvelle caméra Française Pixii?
Pourquoi pas, mais ils ne m'ont pas contacté
they wouldnt happen to have a panoramic adapter for a canon, would they?
Ha! that thumbnail looks like a limp you-know-what! 🤣🤣🤣
That limp rubber dong almost made me spit my coffee out.
Isn‘t the one removing reflection a bit pointless when you cam just use a simple pol Filter?
That is for lens, those can't hold filters.
CAN THESE LENS ADAPTERS WORK ON ANDOER CAMCORDER'S...?
The adjustable reflection filter is black magic.
Самые бесполезнве переходник это для съемки панорам
The first one, you can just buy extension tubes for modern mounts
I see you were in kenosha, Wisconsin seeing the lighthouses at the end!
5:25 Is that a Helios 44-2 vintage lens? Great video!
The cover photo reminds me of a friend when it shrink's...
How does that filter that removes reflected light off water work?
I made a video about it , check the links in description
Love that panoramic adapter will for sure be getting one. thanks for the video.
Thanks for watching!
Photography isn't just pressing the shutter button. It's a mixed profession technically and artistically.
yep
these photos really make me want to get back into photography.
Me interesa , donde puedo comprarlo y cuánto cuesta o vale
it's nice to not have any voice over (I'm sure your voice is fine)
Just checking that all these pictures are unedited for the most part
This could have done with a voice over rather than the music
Yeah like imagine having money, nice video tho, good work too
