What riding the new CRF300L is really like (without Music!).

- After owning CRF-L's, Kawasaki, KTM, Husky, Suzuki, Aprilia, Yamaha... I think I have found the perfect bike for MY riding. This bike requires very little maintenance and took about 1500 USD to take from bone stock to an impressive trail bike that will manage 95% of what most trail riders actually ride. Total cost about 6,000USD and 2 hours of modifying the stock bike.
Thanks for the non music version! I can hear the engine and how it performs in 1st 2nd and on! Plus see the clutch ease and hear the engagement with engine variable sounds. Great Vid thanks!!
I love the comment to the guy about opening the gas tank and putting the cig above it. Made me chuckle
By far the best review of the 300L gas tank that I’ve ever seen!
Love how the bike has lots of torque at low revs.
Thanks - nice to hear the bike better :)
You know what everyone is complaining about the cam angle what about we just appreciate the effort he put in to make this vid
Very good video. Thank you. I don't hesitate anymore. Xavier, France
Such a beautiful bike! Hopefully I can make this my first dual sport!
Good review mate, thanks
Good 😌 review 👍 will be good to see in Australia 🇦🇺
Coming to the USA in March. I will have one! or two lol Thanks for showing. :)
Sawatdee khap 🙏🇹🇭 can’t wait to get back to Thailand and get mine !
Definitely going to be my first dip into Dual Sport adventure riding. I've been riding exclusively off-road with my 03 CRF150l and this seems like the proper way to step up and also ride lightly on the road.
Can't wait until spring to get back on my 250L
Thanks for the content. However, I think it’s time to get a decent helmet mount for your camera.
Stoked, picking one up as soon as i can
good info keep it coming thanks!
Taking into account that is it NOT an Enduro and its price point... it's a FANTASTIC bike!!
It’s not an enduro?
4.0 Power right lol
@@joshua7999 I don’t get it lol
@@jeffreyk8888 me either
Wow...might be tempted to upgrade the Rally. Just did a 2 day trip with plenty of sand, still sore and warn out. 👍
Without music is so cool👍
seems awesome...might have to get one
Thanks for the vid, I've been struggling to decide between the CRF300L of a Beta xtrainer/KTM 350 EXCF, I live between the North Yorkshire Moors and Yorkshire Dale's so want to do some road work also, but I don't want to be doing loads of maintenance, I thought the CRF might be heavy but looks to perform well. 👍
Thank you! The sweet sound of thumpers! BRAPPP!
Love it, dry riding is best. No hassle jet washing after every ride like in Mud Island UK , just ride it oil the chain and go again.
Great video. Thanks!
Nice follow up vid Paddy...I'm seriously tempted, if I didn't have so much tied up in my 250L and was still working it'd be a no-brainer.
Where are you riding?
One other small thing...mount your camera under the peak of the lid...makes viewing for others so much better LOL
Awesome bud cheers 👍🏻
great bike great video....looks like dropping down a tooth on the front sprocket would transform it in the slow stuff, maybe time to sell my old xr400 and get one..5 grand over here, cheers from snowy scotland
Yeah, definitely a bit gruntier with the sprocket change. Easy to swap back if you are going on a road trip. XR400 is a great bike though!
great vid thanks. hope we get these in Australia soon. sounds like new suspension and new pipe upgrades are needed, in order to get the most out of it?
Now that’s a video 👌🏼
im super excited for the Rally one, looks really cool and a good bike for what im looking for. just worried its a bit underpowered....
It’s a 286 4stroke that weighs almost as much as a dr650. Why would you expect it to be anything other than “underpowered”
Thanks for the follow up. Bike is looking great. For the forks, is it just the Ohlins progressive springs you had put in or is it the cartridges? I know there’s a few options requiring increasingly deep pockets....
Nice to see it being used. Are all the parts you have had fitted come from the CRF 250L range?
Most, yeah. Exhaust is slightly different though
Anymore crf 300L video's coming? I just ordered mine, comes in July 🤘
Looks like a good bike for off roading, I brought the 250 rally April 2020 and took it back out to Holland where i was working. I found it quite a tall bike, being only 5’6” 30 inside leg and being my first bike for 37 years. Unfortunately a month after taking it out there it was stolen.
I have brought a Triumph Tiger 900 Rally Pro, which is a lot more comfortable, although it is going to be harder for me to handle if i take it off-road.
I’m thinking i need a CRF300 too, hmmmm don’t know how i will get that passed the missus.
Looks like you are out in a nice area, Thailand maybe?
I have also started posting you tube videos too, not as good as yours, would be keen to have some constructive criticism

I’m going to sell my Africa Twin and pick one of these up. I want to do more off-roading than I initially thought.
@@Scott-dn1bk I sold my AT and put a down payment on a crf300l. I got it a couple of weeks ago.
@@Scott-dn1bk glad you found one!
Nice. Would be great to see a video to which I as a European could relate better to in the sense of tared roads/city/countryside riding and commuting in the city (heat from single cylinder). Cheers from Switzerland 🤜
You should look for Africa Twin videos, then. There are lots of Europeans loving these videos. Cheers from Brussels.
@@cgmtv Well, that would not be a good comparison...the Twin is a much larger bike than the CRF300L. I used to own a Tenere 660ZA and am now contemplating a smaller 300 or the T700.
@@custom_gear1035 I was referring to a bike more suitable for the kind of riding you were asking to have a video on.... 😉
Beast Mode
congrats!!! we had a brp. cant wait to get a nother duel sport !!!! #livetoride
no music good lad
could you imagine if Honda had a 400600cc bike with this style of non complex 4 stroke engine
If only...
You mean XR 600 .. or XR 400
No effing bs music!!! THANKS!
Ditto perfect :-)
You want a photo on your broken phone, with a lit stogie in your hand? Sure, just open the petrol can and hold your stogie over it! Witty. Getting my CRF300L in Jan. 2022.
Is the headlight and turn signals specific for the Asian market? Both completely different here in Europe
Which country are you in ? And are you well catered for parts and accessories ?
While the engine on the CRF300L seems great I have a problem having to spend another $1000 on Ohlins parts to get the suspension right. $1000 added to the CRF300L price tag puts a lot of other bikes with in reach.
Do you have a list of the mods you've done?
Your thoughts about this bike versus the venerable WR250R? Does the extra cc's make a real difference? Trying to decide whether to make the switch, but there aren't any CRF300L's to test drive in my area.
Did you put the Ohlins on it? Stock are Showa's at both ends. Just the shock or did you change both ends? That's a very expensive upgrade.
Ohlins both ends... Cost about 750usd. Well worth it.
Does this have a reinforced tail or does it bounce up and down when you ride? Can you add cargo?
You put your shock reservoir right next to the hot cylinder? Pretty much the worst place to stash that
What suspension mods have you done ?
Is that Ohlins shock off of a 2017 + or newer 250L ? If so how much lower did the shorter shock make it ?
What's the top speed?
Also, what kind of gas mileage have you been getting? I know you're doing 95% aggressive offroad, but still... what's the mpg?
How was the OEM suspension, especially rear? Is it so under dumped as the previous model? I have 90 kg and crf250L went down with me sitting on it quite a bit. Thank you. Gread video btw,. subscibed :)
Very soft.. okay for road, but that's about it...
@@paddymoo i though so, what a shame
Is it only North America that isnt getting the led headlight and turn signals?
Which version is it?
« Full » as sold in Asia (31 HP as seen in some reports)
« Neutered » as sold in Europe for over strict EU regulations (27 HP)
I've heard that the HP difference might be due to difference in dyno'ing.
Where are all these dirt roads you show in your videos? Are you finding them on the Dark Side where you filmed near the golf course or are you traveling a ways outside Pattaya to find them? Is there a lot of this kind of riding close by? Thanks
Loads and loads of trails here! 5 mins from siam country club
@@paddymoo Thanks, sold my Click and thinking of buying a CRF250(used) when I can get back in with no quarantine.
Can't find an Ohlins shock for the 300l. Will the 250 Ohlin shock with on the 300. From what I understand they don't make one yet
Mine has the 250 ohlins front and rear and works really well. The new ohlins for 300 is now available in thailand. Apparently its about 10mm longer
Can you do your next video on how it cruises on streets like does it do 110kmh alright or is it wound out
We have 110 zones here she has more to go. I got 300l not rally. Loving her but I'm too short for her
michael bay is the camera
First thing I'd do is get a shorter front brake hose
Thats "the look" LOL
Tie One On ye for some reason there all like that. The cake probably works better when it is longer
They just delayed my crf300l... It was supposed to arrive in January. Importer can only ship 2 instead 6 bikes and I was the 3rd who put money on the table. Mine will arrive in April. Probably. Who knows at this point....
Worst feeling ever! Took me forever to get a new 250L last year. I got one of the last 2020s with an April build date
What country are you in?
@@jacobaugustin8420 Hungary.
@@RonaiHenrik oh man I have one on deposit and was curious I'm in the U.S
Brilliant video of your gas tank....
What tires were you running?
Vee rubber full off road- can't remember what they were called
How tall are you? Inseam? I’m 6’ with a 32” inseam. (183cm and 82cm) would this bike be too short for me?
Where do you live? Thai model is lowered as standard, while EU, US and AU gets the higher model. I'm 196 cm and am buying the L version. Have sit on a 300 Rally which is basically the same height and it seemed to be fine.
@@RonaiHenrik USA
@@beachamboy11 I don't think it will be too short.
Does it have a hydraulic clutch?
No, cable. But it is extremely light.
The Thia version looks so much better...I can't stand my bulky headlight & blinkers.
Camera position is horrible. All I see is a gas tank jumping up and down.
Nice bike but I went up bigger hills in my fully loaded plumbing van.
Of course you did. Hahaha 😂
😅😅😅😅😅
does this bike have enough power to power wheelie? how does it compare to a 450l?
450 is hardly comparable to this bike
@@IAMLEGIT2323 since it needs way more maintenance. The 300 is 10x better with a few mods
@@DStabs720 for sure
12 minute vid and we spent 8 minutes looking at a gas cap!
E20! Dyno
You need to change sprockets. I’d say 4 teeth on the rear to start.
No music that's a great thing not that I'm a music hater but there is a time and place and dirt bike videos is not the place for me and if they do play the music it's a bunch of junk music anyway it's not even the good stuff
I’m nauseous.
Maybe you’re pregnant.
Chest mount camera's tend to do that
