What riding the new CRF300L is really like (without Music!).
Переглядів 32 тис.3 роки тому
After owning CRF-L's, Kawasaki, KTM, Husky, Suzuki, Aprilia, Yamaha... I think I have found the perfect bike for MY riding. This bike requires very little maintenance and took about 1500 USD to take from bone stock to an impressive trail bike that will manage 95% of what most trail riders actually ride. Total cost about 6,000USD and 2 hours of modifying the stock bike.
Actual riding review of the Honda CRF300L, in beautiful Thailand! What is it really like?

25000 views! Thanks! I listened to some of the comments about not *actually* doing a review in the last video, so have addressed some of that here. I enjoyed the interesting comments, and very happy to answer questions about this excellent machine.
So what is the new CRF300L really like?

after owning 3 CRF250s, 2 KTMs, a KLX, a few DTs, an NGV, an RMX and a couple of Huskys, here is my take on the new CRF300L.

Thank you!
I like how the Engine works smooth and tracktabel but i dont like the high weight and low ground clearance.Because this i prefer the CRF230F plated.
Great video and good job on keeping music volume down. So, how do they lower the seat height there?
By far the best review of the 300L gas tank that I’ve ever seen!
The Thia version looks so much better...I can't stand my bulky headlight & blinkers.
Anymore crf 300L video's coming? I just ordered mine, comes in July 🤘
3:12 that don't sound right my KLR has taken some big rocks, no way it's worse then that
These people bitching about the suspension look what the bike cost they all need to go out and buy a Husqvarna or a KTM that's so stiff you can't ride it these people are looking in the wrong category for a motorcycle if you want race suspension you want to Husqvarna or a KTM that's made to go fast that bike's not made to go fast on the trail
No music that's a great thing not that I'm a music hater but there is a time and place and dirt bike videos is not the place for me and if they do play the music it's a bunch of junk music anyway it's not even the good stuff
YEAA LESS GO
Nice bike. Sweet. Ohlins shock! Subscribed!
Thanks for the vid, I've been struggling to decide between the CRF300L of a Beta xtrainer/KTM 350 EXCF, I live between the North Yorkshire Moors and Yorkshire Dale's so want to do some road work also, but I don't want to be doing loads of maintenance, I thought the CRF might be heavy but looks to perform well. 👍
great course preview
Hi Paddy, did you change the jetting with that exhaust? If no, how does it go with the stock fuelling? thank you.
Hi, not yet. Looking for an EJK in Thailand but have been busy. Apparently makes a good difference...
This isn't the stock bike. It isn't a review of the stock bike.
Well spotted. I think that much is abundantly clear.
when the crf250 first came out I got to test ride one and I could not get off it fast enough. I would like to see the difference if its not a gutless lump.
What tires were you running?
Vee rubber full off road- can't remember what they were called
Hey paddy just waiting on delivery of my 21 crf300L enjoyed your take on the bike ,a quick question when you fitted the ''fmf' exhaust did you have to do any mods to suit in regards to retuning thanks again
Hey, glad you liked it. Didn't have to do any mods to anything. Bolted straight on. Might want an ejk fuel controller though
Good review mate, thanks
Hi, have you removed the ABS system?
No ABS on Thai models
@@paddymoo good for you! Thanks. And about Ohlins suspension: has the saddle height changed compared to the original shock absorber?
@@FC-pf2xv don't think so. Still pretty low...
@@paddymoo Ok, thanks you again!
Can't find an Ohlins shock for the 300l. Will the 250 Ohlin shock with on the 300. From what I understand they don't make one yet
Mine has the 250 ohlins front and rear and works really well. The new ohlins for 300 is now available in thailand. Apparently its about 10mm longer
Hi mate love the vids just wondering if the fmf was made for a 250l because I'm just wondering if a 250l pipe would fit on my 300l im from Australia so there no 300l pipes been made for them yet
You certainly dont need rim locks
Why not?
@@paddymoo Well if you are running high PSI the bike doesnt have the grunt to spin the tyre on the rim.
@@Terry-Tibbs it certainly does. Shredded 2 tubes from running it at 18-20psi in 2500km
@@paddymoo Well you didn't seat the tyre properly when fitting.
@@paddymoo used to run a fleet of xr400s at 16psi never a rim lock in sight & tyres never moved
What's the deal with that predominant front break line??
I want to upgrade the front suspension (can't afford the rear right now). I was looking at YSS suspension. Can you just swap out the springs or does a shop need to tune it? I would prefer doing it myself.
Hi, looking at moving over, is there a riding group over there, for fun trial riding
Yeah, lots of riders. Has really taken off in the last 8 years...
@@paddymoo where abouts are you
I've a 300l here in the UK, but won't to get away
Eastern seaboard, near Pattaya
@@paddymoo hope I do make it
What the heck is that line sticking up in front of the handle bars? If a tree branch catches that on a tight trail it won't be good! That's a poor design
Nice review. Thanks for not blaring music while you were talking. We clicked on your vid to hear what you have to say 👍
Hello Paddy. Dies your bike have a 5k rattle like mine? Any ideas? Thanks. ua-cam.com/video/hQsN8RhpzTE/v-deo.html
I'm surprised that you haven't gotten rid of Honda's ridiculously spongy "all rubber" front brake line, and upgraded to a stainless steel braided line. Far better braking power and feel. They are a MUST upgrade for ALL Honda rubber front brake lines! Also installing/swapping your carby for a Keihin FCR flat slide carburetor (plenty 2nd hand for cheap), in say a 37mm, would turn your bike into a super responsive WEAPON! I rode XR 250s & 280s for years before upgrading to my current KTM 450EXC. JMO!
Have you had to have it remapped for the egsaust or fuel controller?
Good video 👍 Do you live in Thailand? What do you do? Would love to live there, don't think there's much jobs market for physios though?
Yeah, live here - there is work for everyone!
@@paddymoo which part do you live in?
Is that Ohlins shock off of a 2017 + or newer 250L ? If so how much lower did the shorter shock make it ?
Mate cheers for the video. Getting this 300l here in Australia in the next month or so. Would love a parts list of your upgrades so I can get the bike shop to pre fit everything before I actually pick the bike up. If possible could you please send me part # or just the part upgrades so I can put a list together for the shop? My email is benpanchaud@gmail.com. Cheers. And once again mate appreciate your vids especially the riding in the real world where we dish a little punishment to our bikes.
Great review mate - looks like a blast on those Thai single tracks. Heard it's a full 32hp in Thailand without the Euro restrictions, plus LED lights all round. Is that right?
I watched you great and honest video because i was about to buy a new CRFL300 but no more! In my country CRFL 300 costs 5.950 Euros (6.000 with license plate) and the mods it needs costs about 2.000 Euros and i wanted to make them before i saw this video. It is better to find something else .....
Is it only North America that isnt getting the led headlight and turn signals?
Enjoyed but I could never drive that fast! I've had my Yamaha 135. Several years and only use it for 7/11 beer Run
Are you in Thailand?
Yes indeed
@@paddymoo I'm preparing for a new CRF300l. And hopefully one day I'll ride with you.
While the engine on the CRF300L seems great I have a problem having to spend another $1000 on Ohlins parts to get the suspension right. $1000 added to the CRF300L price tag puts a lot of other bikes with in reach.
Your thoughts about this bike versus the venerable WR250R? Does the extra cc's make a real difference? Trying to decide whether to make the switch, but there aren't any CRF300L's to test drive in my area.
Stoked, picking one up as soon as i can
Ditto perfect :-)
Una buona moto, prenderò la Rally
I like this machine ! It’s a really interesting bike for light traveling
You need to change sprockets. I’d say 4 teeth on the rear to start.
Ironic, I ride a motorcycle and am interested in the new To Canada ,Honda 300 and was checking out you videos and saw Paraglide. There are many of my friends who fly who also ride motorcycles. I am 79 and still into both PG 14 years and Hangliders 13 years. Best way of forgetting all your worries and problems and focus on enjoying the ride. I'm in BC which is a paradise for sports.
Love how the bike has lots of torque at low revs.
Much better than old Honda XL lineup.
