Ray Shoesmith ‘takes care of people’ - collecting debts, relieving them of drugs and guns, and often taking care of them on a more permanent basis. Ray demands respect and does not tolerate others disregarding his very clear code of ethics. I feel like I've been living under a rock not knowing about this show. I've watched a few snippets off UA-cam and am in awe. It's authentically Australian meaning it's not trying to plagiarise or pretend it's anything else and the acting is off the charts especially the Ian Roberts ambush scene. The dialogue is down to earth and realistic with funny and extremely tense scenes. Never mind Hollywood, Australia are producing great shows and actors. Respect from nz

Just watch the first 5 minutes of S1E1, and it you don't like it - then you're not cut out for this series.
Considering they split up - "is that what your mum is? a rat?" Is hilarious.
I love how quick the elbow shot happens. It's so natural that it almost feels supernatural.

Australia invaded our TV in Berlin for three years, and we loved it. Easily one of the best shows I've ever seen, Mr. Inbetween should have run another ten years.

@@Grande.biggly it has 3 seasons my dude all on binge the director and actor who plays ray the main character wanted it to end on mystery and continue to be a masterpiece they did not want to stretch the show to far where fans would be like righto it needs to end now and the show has finished but people are still only finding out about it, its a australian art piece of a tv show that literally no one knows about except from being told about it or your lucky enough to come across smell clips like this on you tube they made a movie as well about 15 years ago called the magician same character ect

I've wanted to do that so many times, but the fear of county jail again, or prison stops me. Now with everyone having cell phones and cameras being ubiquitous, it's almost impossible to give somebody what's coming to them without getting arrested. Our society has become extremely pussified.

I caught this show on FX watched them all and then bought the 3 DVDs that's how good it is.
oh man, , even as an uncle I felt that: "No kiss?" "I'm twelve." That was some moment.
- I recall seeing how sad it made my mother when my older brothers started acting like that. I always made it a point to not deny her that small courtesy when I got to the age that it became awkward and socially detrimental.
As a dad, I felt terrible for that moment...
I still hug my dad and get a kiss on the head. I want as many as I can get.

The fact that Ray used an Elbow instead of a punch demonstrates how he’s a versatile fighter. The forest fight is another great example when he elbows the guys punch to deflect it and dish out pain simultaneously

This is the greatest TV show I've ever seen.
I watched all 3 seasons at once after UA-cam "recommended" a few episodes and after that I watched "The Magician". Both are top notch. Mr.Ryan, if you are reading this, please get busy with Seasons 4-5-6, etc.)))))

Not happening. He said he'll stop now as he don't know what story to tell and isn't motivated anymore. Better stop at the peak than force himself and drop the show quality like... i don't know... Game of throne, friends, simpsons, the experts, start wars 7-8-9, ...

Note to self, when I see Ray calmly swagger with a low-key demeanor it’s time to brace for primal rage. It’s kind of like watching an alligator calmly float towards bison.
Scott Ryan played Ray Shoesmith very well in this series. He's a very good actor and director.

This deserves a 4th season, and it either should give him a final rest, or leave him in somewhat of a good terms with himself.
This is such an old trope. Nash and Ray called time, not FX. They were exhausted and wanted to do new things. It was 5 years of their life, PLUS the prior 15 schlepping it around thr world trying to sell it. Time for new stuff.

This was one of the greatest shows on TV, sucked big time when it ended. It ended way to soon. I know Scott Ryan was tired of the character and wanted to move on but it would have been great to have another season or two at least. Amazing actor, amazing writing, amazing show. I truly miss it and I dont say that about too many shows.
I just came across this show of hulu best series i usually dont like dark but he has a mix of violence, kindness, father, loyalty. I love him do t k ow the outcome yet im sire he dies which will b difficult but ive lost many men i have loved in series

Doors open, gorgeous woman walks in. We all look, because, well, you notice.
Her boyfriend walks in behind her, sees us looking (we are closest to doors) and looks like a wild man. Straight up to our table, in our faces, goes to swing. Bad idea.
My mate puts down his burger, takes his plate out (denture, front tooth), punches the guy.................... guy sways, goes down.
Mate puts his plate back in, eats burger while watching bloke on deck while his GF attends to him.
He would never hit anyone for no reason/nicest bloke you ever met. But this bloke was in his face.

Funny how his daughter wanted him to drop her off down from the school entrance, I can relate to that, made me laugh to myself 😂
I was kind of surprised they didn't have another, seasoned dad there doing the exact same thing, so they might share a moment.

It wasn't random, he had an interaction with another citizen. That person was extremely disrespectful in their speech, and used aggressive and offensive words and he took offense and responded appropriately.

Stumbled across this series a few months ago after seeing some clips on You Tube. After watching the first episode I was hooked and binge watched the lot !!!! Ray`s character reminds me in some ways of Mike in Breaking Bad. They are totally different shows but both simply brilliant because they are not all showy show biz glam. It`s relatable as often down to earth everyday life stuff happens. If you`ve not watched it, you`re missing out !!!

I had something like this happen to me in a parking lot. Lady tried to cross in front of me at an imaginary cross walk. She yelled and actually kicked my car.
I had someone trying to cut in in front of me illegally. They'd taken a quicker route with less traffic. I edged my car quickly ahead without letting him in, our cars almost touching. After moving in behind me, he had the nerve to push the hon at me. 😅
