The back door's look good Gents. We know all the paint has been done under the cover and bumper so that's all that matters. Rob as you say, you could go around all day sorting out the dents but it is a work van so why worry. Judging by your previous gearbox changes I don't think that will take long to do but will be an interesting video. Thanks again Rob and Chris for another great video.👍👍

So in the last video I was one of those that commented on the rear doors not lining up and fir that I'm sorry,to the people on here now that are still going on about them not lining up please watch till the end because they line up beautifully now,will be a great van once thr gearbox is done and Chris done a grand job on the paint,cheers guys👍
its a Renault PF6 gearbox, you can buy a upgraded rebuild kit off Ebay £180. just done one yesterday, very easy gearbox to rebuild. be aware, this is a very common fault on these gearboxes, so i would opt for rebuild rather than second hand.

Brill' 😂🤣😂. I don't think Chris sleeps, he just has meal breaks between working on his land and in the workshop! Similar with Rob working, parts sourcing, travelling and video editing. Makes me tired just keeping up with their work.

I reckon Chris should pull that back door dent out with a glue type mini puller, would make a good video & I`m sure you would agree, it`d get you a load of views as an instructional video. (I`d give the bonnet a little tug with the slide hammer on a wooden block, or, sandwich it with a pair of wooden blocks & a pair of G Clamps)✌
The sound is the bearing on the counter shaft in the transaxle. Thats why its only in 5-6th witch both gears on the counter shaft only.

An old trick from the Sexton Blake manual you only need two matching wheel trims on same side and they can be two matching different on the other as no one can see both sides at once.

There is nothing wrong with that van having a few dents it's going to get a few more before it's been a van too long L.O.L. I look at used equipment for customers and they say about dents, Now bear in mind I know what these guys operate like, I just tell them it's pre damaged so they don't have to waste a morning trying to wreck it themselves ! Something I've learned from looking at newer cars is Robots can't paint that well, the amount of orange peel I see when I look in parking lots here in Canada's unreal. In reality Chris's is probably better than some new stuff out there if you really start looking hard enough in the right light. Thanks for the video, take care guys.

Great job fellas. When I was rebuilding gearboxes and you had noises like that in your top gear, it was usually the main shaft that was knackered. Trouble is it also messed up the gears on the lay shaft. Onwards and upwards.

Once again fellas great workmanship all round 👏 what do people expect from a 17 plate work van it will have a few dents and marks on it. The next time a courier van delivers in your street no matter what plate it is on i bet they will not be a straight panel on it. Keep up the good work and videos 📹

Had same problem with Vauxhall Movano in 5th and 6th gear, was layshaft bearing.

Another good work van nearly ready for reissue! Love the workmanship but also the realism, this is a work vehicle and will soon have more dings and scratches added, but hope there are no problems dealing with the gearbox. Cheers again, keep up the standards.

Sound like a bearing is failing internally in your gearbox. It shouldn't be too hard to find a replacement GB from an autoweecker in your area as those vans are very common. I love your vid's, keep em coming. Cheers from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada
Unfortunately that gearbox type is prone to failure and that's why they are often in the breakers yard

We refurbish these gearboxes in house in Aylesford.
It may be very cost effective to repair rather than replace. It's a PF6 box in these usually.

If the gearbox is a GM the main bearing to 5&6 are too small and have a poor oil supply, they always fail, same as Insignia, the M32 box is useless. You can upgrade them with bearings but better with a K40 box which is a straight swap and so much better. The van has turned out really nice, just needs a good clean inside and out!
Absolutely right, an old mechanic friend of mine had exactly the same problem and he contacted a local dealer who suggested upgrading the gearbox, so it seems that this is a known problem and is easily corrected.

Years ago I had a nasty whine no matter the car I was driving. Got divorced and the whine stopped.
It's a common issue mate. Usually expensive to resolve 😂

It looks great now it's all back together. Good job you looked behind the bumper, I doubt you'd be able to see those radiator brackets, otherwise. In my opinion, the gearbox noise could be down to low oil and worn bearings. It would be interesting to find out what the problem is. Great video. 👍
People jumping the gun commenting before they’ve watched the whole video! The van looks perfect with that repair and the new doors on it, could never tell that’s been rear ended. Great job gents it’s a tidy looking van and will be ready to go again once that noisy gearbox is sorted.

Ah that gearbox 😬. It suffers from bearing failure. There is actually an M32 gearbox specialist. Once modified they are generally ok. Vans going to be quite sought after with a new gearbox and the lovely repair

Hi Rob And Chris loving the work and efforts you make in the video's. The Gearbox whine is the end bearing pressed into the casing they wear the most because the other end of the rest is supported internally and 5th and 6th has not got the support which causes this issue. very common issue with the vauxhall/renualt 6 speed box as they are car car box not made for vans.

Great job guys,sometimes these gearbox issues arise due to lack of maintenance eg gearbox oil change never carried out thus causing premature wear and tear on mechanical components.

If you're lucky, maybe it's just the release bearing. Or if you're unlucky it's the input shaft bearing. Either way, you're more than capable of sortin it!

Great job guys , those front bumpers are held on stupidly on the wheel arches Rob, and when you opened the van door with the headlamp bulb covers missing , I said to my phone , I've got 4 of them 😂😂👍👍, from a vito I repaired a couple of weeks ago , (saved them ) looking good now , its going to be a nice van for the next owner 👍👍👍
