It's always a pleasure to listen to your views about Indonesia and the gems of information.❤❤❤❤❤❤Irfaan Cape town .South Africa... Our ancestors of Islam is from Indonesia exiled by the Dutch yo Cape town in 1694...Thanks❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
There’s an old saying in Indonesia passed down through generations: "Alon-alon asal kelakon", meaning "slowly but surely." It reminds us not to rush, as hasty actions often lead to mistakes and unsafe outcomes. Our elders also teach us to help each other, even when we’re struggling ourselves. This focus on patience and mutual support is central to our values.
I lived in Yogyakarta and was very happy there. My neighbors were Javanese and treated me like family. I miss them. Thank you for sharing your experience
thanks to this video, as an Indonesian. I am very grateful to live and be born in Indonesia. Thanks for making this video Ms kate.❤❤ Much Love From East Java. Semoga Sehat Selalu.
I have been stay in Jogja for 2 year, nice place, polite people & cheapest living cost, for the food suit me well, little bit sweet, because I don't eat spicy
I’m an Australian/Italian born in sydney and I reverted to Islam almost 30 yrs ago at the age of 24. I’m amazed that you’ve lived in Indonesia for 40 yrs and haven’t put two and two together and realised that everything you find remarkable about Indonesia such as mannerisms, help for tourists, no shoes indoors, compassion for others, family etc is not culture but Islamic beliefs? If you have to find yourself it’s simply because you haven’t found the one who created you but instead follow your desires. I’d highly suggest that you research the Quran and Islam and the life of the Prophet of Islam PBUH before it’s too late. It would have been a wasted life if you’ve lived in an Islamic country and totally missed why you love it so much.
Indonesia 🇮🇩 is a truly paradise country with many loves, happiness, bless, all of positive vibes. 🇮🇩❤ Eventhough Indonesia has so many different islands, cultures, religions, ethnics, tribes, and backgrounds, but we are united in diversity, we are one Indonesia. 🇮🇩❤
Hi kate, i have been following your video.. this is amazing. I'm an indonesian live in US plan to retire in Indonesia. Hope we can meet up when I'm visiting Yogyakarta!! kudos for your channel!!
Singosari Kabupaten Malang - Jawa Timur
We begin to "lose ourselves" from the very first "so, what do you want to be/do when you grow up" questions. It implies we are not good enough just being us and must always strive to be and do something.
Good learning from you about the disconnected life and learned yourself. I agreed I forgot myself tried to fulfill the norms and expectations the entire life. Glad you found the happiness. Thank you for your inside. I am 66 and just retired. I need to rethink myself with my life. Thinking of one of the SE Asia countries to do partial retirement destinations. I will have to test drive to travel. Thanks again.
You are a perfect spoke person for our tourism department ...they should hire you or at least give you credits and support for your videos . THANK YOU FOR PUT A VERY GOOD WORDS FOR INDONESIA . ❤
You found yourself here in Indonesia. That was the greatest life experience ... It's nice to hear it. ❤ Hopefully you will get another good things happened next ...
Hi Kate. Thanks for the video. May Indonesia continue to be the place you love. Yes, a smile is considered an act of charity according to the hadith of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), as narrated by Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him): "Your smile in the presence of your brother (fellow Muslim) is (counted as) charity for you" (Narrated by Tirmidhi, Ibn Hibban). Additionally, there are several other hadiths related to smiling, including: "Do not underestimate any good deed, even if it is simply meeting your brother with a beaming face" (Narrated by Muslim). "Part of charity is to greet people with a cheerful face (smiling)" (Narrated by Ibn Abi Dunya). Smiling is one of the deeds that can increase daily rewards in the teachings of the Prophet (peace be upon him).
I like that you mentioned about gotong royong ( mutual cooperation) where the philosophy has started to fade in this day and age. And we Indonesians must continue to remind the current generation about gotong royong. Thank so much ❤❤❤
Amazing awesome explain n terima kasih-thank you for made n share this video to us hope Insya Allah you always meet n find good people possitive atmoshpear in every place every province you visitting in Indonsia salam ❤ for you
Terimakasih atas ceritanya Kate. Kadang saya jadi rindu dengan kehidupan saat kuliah dulu. Kota kecil atau desa buat saya adalah tempat paling nyaman bila dibandingkan dengan Jakarta tempat saya sekarang tinggal...😊
There is abig differences between the USA and Indonesia life style and economy and Opportunities etc... I hope you make also a video what you dont like in Indonesia?
Like always, sitting and chilling while watch your nice video. But because i'm Indonesian its feel unperfect if watching your video without coffee and cigaretes 😂. Well thanks again for this nice video ma'am. ❤❤
Thanks for your suggestion. And yes, I plan to do a video on owning doggies in Indonesia. I have 5 whippets and 1 Dalmatian. There aren't any greyhounds or whippets here, so I had to import from Australia and Singapore. I'll put this idea near the top of my list of ideas. Thanks again.

Thank you for sharing Kate. Can you please have another UA-cam for American tourists visiting Indonesia? How to pay for things to buy. for food at restaurants, etc...
I didn't know you were heading down the psychology route too! I was planning to become a child psychologist years ago. I completed 2 and a half years of a psychology degree with the Open University before having kids and then becoming unable to write due to a severe arthritis flare that left my wrists permanently damaged. Many years later I got a Masters in IT and followed a completely different path.
Interesting. Yes, I went back to school to take all I needed for a major in psyche. Then I was in the middle of the second year of grad school when I got really nervous because I felt like I'd have to stay in one place once I set up a practice. But I figured the 3-month job in Indonesia would get that bug out of my system. HA!
