I really liked the video and am interested in watching more. will the course work for live lite or do you need intro or higher? and by chance will you be doing a black friday or end of year discount?
@@damienthorn2917(i expect but don’t know for sure) that Live Lite would be fine initially, but it has limitations. This is the greatest beginner level teaching video for creating music on ableton I've seen. You're great at explaining and the course is very well structured, would definitely buy it if I had money.
Wow!! Been goofing around with making music in software since cakewalk in the 90s. Just trial and error and I have always felt like there's tons that I'm missing and wish I knew. I just felt like a hack. Thanks so much for making this class and giving us a way to actually learn how to use these tools, develop some confidence, assuredness and start having a lot more fun. You're doing God's work Oscar!!
The things you are doing and explaining in your channel are just incredible, top-notch stuff! You are not only talented in music, but explaining the concepts. I hope this channel hits half a mil subs, and many, many views within the next year! Thank you so much for taking the time, and shearing your skill with us!
You are such a great teacher.... I will finally start your course after seeing so many free content from you. Even if I am not a native english speaker, it is a please to listen to you!
I remember doing these kinds of steps in good old SoundTracker on Amiga without knowing any of the terms and never bothered adjusting the volumes, I thought I was bad ass still ;D
I was fell sleep while watching UA-cam by the time woke up your tutorial video starting from the beginning, I have learnt today about the basic of stereo editing lesson and thank you very much. I've got all the basic main points that I kept in my head and that will never be disappeared. Subscribed for more learning 💫💫💫👍
This is the best explanation I have ever followed. Everything ready and clearly explained down to the last detail, and even from a fellow countryman! Super!!!
I bought Live 10 Suite and have not fully committed since way back then... I've watched quite a few of your vids Oscar and your way of explaining things with visual references (drums and mixer) while obvious for most, have totally changed these simple concepts in Ableton for me... hugely appreciated!! You are Awesome 🙌. The information always remains the same, it's the teacher who makes the difference... Thank you so much.
I watched many vids over last year and just found your channel. It's great and user focused. Also your focus on structure in learning is really helpful.
Oscar, I consider myself fairly proficient and experienced with music production. In reality, I don't NEED to watch this video, as I am not in the target audience. However, your videos are a great watch, without fail. There is always more to learn, if you are hungry for knowledge and driven to develop your skills/art, and this channel provides a comfortable and enjoyable learning environment for all skill levels. I have even learned some really basic keyboard functions from your videos, which I kick myself for not knowing years ago! Keep it up-
As someone who is barely entering the realm of music production, my road starts here. I've been blindly watching your videos for a couple months now. Not quite understanding the terms and phrases but still interested nevertheless. I seriously can't thank you enough, Oscar. Your channel is a blessing and I'm infinitely thankful for all that you do. 🙏
Just found you channel a short while ago your ability to explain concepts is amazing. I recently switched to Ableton and i always found it kind of mystifying but since watching your viedos its really useful and different.
where is the sample pack that you said comes with the video? if I have to buy the full corse to access that pack I will let me know do you do live calls like zoom or live streams ??? thank you
This is just great, it would also be great if you can do a video on the last hour of producing a track. What are the key elements to look into before we can call a track finished ?
This is absolutely amazing, thank you so much. It's really hard to get into music production at the start. The only thing that threw me off a bit is the fact that it feels like I'm looking into a mirror who just knows much more than me. But same "hair cut", same beard (length, color, gray spots), eye color, even the shirt and black nails. 😅
Hello man, tanks a lot for this tutorial !!! You're very good at teaching, thank you. Just one thing, I can't find the audio samples pack you mention in the video which should in the description. Can you help me with that ? Have a really good day.
Hey Oscar! Really love your videos, and really keen on learning electronic music through Underdog in the future! Wanted to know if it is possible for you to add a smaller sample pack to this video, so we can follow along to the end of the tutorial? If not, maybe a link to any other samples online? An absolute beginner here, so just a little lost about where & what samples to download online. Thank you!!
Thanks so much! This was a great way to practice for beginners like me. I love your content. So helpful for me adventuring into the techno production realm.
Cool. Learning :) Need to spend more time on your series. Excellent explainations :) Never got such theory before at all. Did it all on my own by experimenting and just trusting my inner voice :)
This is so great, thank you! I'm at the 20:00 min mark and it's saying there should be a sample folder below to unzip and install. I'm not seeing the file under the video here - have you removed it? Is there any way we can access it? Thanks so much - you're a great teacher.
This guy has my favourite tutorials for Ableton! Thanks for helping get me started. I want to ask does session view offer anything that arrangement view cannot do? I don't much like session view though I started with LMMS. What are the little boxes below Audio/MIDI? (Clips?) When I put notes in them through the piano roll they don't appear in arrangement view. I'm a little confused there and any help is much appreciated!
Loving this thank you. You skipped quickly over how to set midi clip to 1/16 I'm on a Mac and no right click on mouse option...I can't work it out or find it on google!
I felt like I could use it in the first 10-15 minutes of the video - it's the fl studio habit, I wanted to install the free version and try it, I couldn't get it to work, I got a bit of impatience, I gave up, i will try again, i hope :) thnx for nice tutorial
Quick question. Around 30:48 you crop the snare sample to one hit and then further "compress" it making the actual beat shorter. If you compress a waveform into a shorter time, wouldn't it also increase the frequency/pitch of the sound? I was a bit surprised that it didn't go up in pitch. Does Ableton do something to automatically adjust pitch when you compress a sample like this?
Heyhey! The word compression means something very specific and very different, in this case maybe the word ‘crop’ or cut might be better, i just cut off the end. No squeezing or stretching involved if i recall correctly!
@@OscarUnderdog Yeah I think that because you had a tail on the clip, when you cropped it it just made it look like the clip was getting compressed because the tail tapered in steeper.. if that makes any sense.
I downloaded Ableton live. Following your course, but I have no sounds coming from the Arrangement view. Also my favorites category has no scrolling option and I have no sample pack. Any ideas?
Hello my dear friend. When the master volume is red, do you use limiter at the master or not ? difficult question ? i would like to hear your opinion. thanks
Yes, you will use a limiter at the end, BUT I would advise you first to set the volume of all your elements low enough so that you're not near 0dB on the master channel. That limiter will be useful later on, but first get the volume of your elements balanced without the need for a limiter!
@@manoliskapa Yes! It can be tempting to continue working on a track while using a limiter on your master channel, but this is not a sensible idea. It's like vacuuming your room without tidying it first. If you become happy with the sound of your track with a limiter applied to the master, you may make decisions which actually prevent you from achieving the sound you want in your final mix. By all means activate master plugins temporarily just to enjoy the music while arranging/listening, but I don't recommend making this a habit. Hope it made sense?
Hi Oscar. What if you don't know "anything" about music, meaning you haven't studied it, etc... how big of a barrier is that to take full advantage of this course? thank you
Hi 🎉 just found you and this software. Do all these sounds come built in with Ableton 11/12? Or do I have to go and source all the sounds (the drum kicks, symbols etc). Thank you.
At 19:51 a samples pack is mentioned and I thought this was going to be in the links here. I do not find the samples anywhere and was wondering if anyone can tell me where they can be downloaded. Thx.
How can I audition sounds like you do? When I do the same thing, I see the waveform, but get no sound. I can only hear it after dragging it into a track.
