This is it! I watched a bunch of "Learn Ableton in 15 Minutes" videos that just left me confused or frustrated. I am so glad I set aside the time to watch this tutorial. Awesome!
For all the folks looking to "dominate" Ableton Live 11, this is a must-look at learning it. I cannot believe the time, clarity, and attention to detail that this video has created. It is simply the best, in my view, and it is so easy to follow. Just commit the time to it and keep revisiting it, and you will master Ableton Live! Excellent job, folks, and thanks for doing this!!!
Hey Tomas, I have to compliment you: I have been working in music production for 30 years now, and while I am right now in the phase of restructuring my studio (and I still got no intern that crawls for me under the Desks), this course came randomly up in the mighty YT Algorithm. I usually find these tutorials so annoying, boring, fake, or just screaming between the lines of what some try to sell me, that I can't stand it if I am doing work with a little focus needed. But this was not that. Even doing Audio Network and Server Stuff your voice somehow found a way thru, and I ESPECIALLY AM IMPRESSED, how you still manage to explain every little step, that must be bread and butter for years. I also had to laugh out loud, when you, totally serious, explained that a microphone only will be sent on one channel, even if it's in some stereo track...but.OF COURSE. Someone who is starting totally fresh...how should he know. So, my friend, and now that I did this, and finished my beer..... let's crawl back into the server room. Greetz from Germany.
The best ableton tutorial : structured, logical, with a clear language, with step by step objectives, simple demonstrations, not as all these rough small amateur tutorials which contaminate youtube. Good job !
I have completed lots of UA-cam software tutorials - something of a mixed bag - I genuinely believe this to be the best produced structured paced and delivered tutorial I have encountered. Thank you
Thank you for sharing this with everyone. 20 minutes in and I'm feeling like i'm making progress on actually learning how to use the software. It's very daunting as a beginner but you're breaking everything to the bare bones. Much appreciated. Glad I stumbled upon this video.
hopefully you're doing much better on your journey understanding the daw. just FYI I found most helpful to find people you can watch make music live on Ableton and just follow what they do. Tom cosm is also a great resource :) and dude produces so quickly/effortlessly
This made me buy the course. I'm 30 lessons in and literally by lesson 5 I was like "why didn't I do this before" he really makes it so easy to understand and you can follow along. I'd suggest getting a second screen so you can mess with ableton and watch the lessons though. It'd be hard if I didn't have two.
I am a beginner, Hebrew speaking user, and yet this guide was so friendly and easy to understand. Very generous amount of information. I bought the full course.
As many on here will confirm, coming to Ableton from other DAW's is no easy thing ! I rarely leave comments on videos but am compelled to record out here that I tried out many of the " quick start" videos as well as other longer Ableton training videos - even tried to read the manual - but gave up cause there is at times too much detail to get past to get to the "meat" ( at least for how my mind works!). This video is just the right mix of Ableton concept explanation and " need to know at this stage" feature explanation to get me to a point where I can honestly start out on my own without getting frustrated every few minutes, cause something didn't work out as per the video I'd just seen ( probably needed some prior extra setting done, or the explanation didn't cover some of the common use cases) . Just things like playing midi or audio samples between arrangement and session views used to be hard to grasp cause the concepts between the two views was not well explained like on here. I got a lot of misunderstandings cleared up. Thanks so much ! I bought the course - tbh- just as a thank you for now!! ( and as a safe guard in case I still have some questions ....later!!) 🙏
Thank you! I'm a beginner. Tried a few different videos around. It's a complicated software, and you've made it so much easier for a first timer to really begin and grapple with the basics. Thank you :)
This is the best tutorial ever. No assuming the viewer knows every given term, and a clear understanding of over aspect without overlooking things that make seem “logical” to most DAW users. Thank you very much
This is a great video, i learnt a lot. I just recently started using Ableton live and i was a little confused at first, but now i believe i have way more knowledge about the software. Thanks You Gents.
I was almost ready to cry before i found your video because i've watched so many begginer tutorials yet they are not for beginners at all. Thank you for taking the time to make this video, this is the best video tutorial out there. I will gladly buy your course
Thank you so much for this tutorial, recently come from FL and this video has made the transition extremely smooth. For those in a similar position, I would defo recommend setting aside the time to watch this.
@@slysquare6671 hmm difficult to answer, I had a experience with FL studio and a bit in pro tools (which is somewhat similar to ableton) , so it defo helped with learning Ableton. I think you should be fine to jump right into it, it will be a steep learning curve tho. So don't expect to get it all from just this tutorial!
Have to agree with the other positive comments on here. This is the ONLY ableton tutorial that's actually taught me anything I actually need to know. Bravo sir. Thank you so much. You've made my day.
FROM A LONG-TERM-FRUSTRATED LIVE (ATTEMPTED) USER -- this tutorial finally DID it for me -- Live 12 and Novation Launchkey MK3 25 plus LIVE CONGA / LATIN DRUMS-- UNLESS YOU'RE AN AI - YOU CANNOT LEARN LIVE IN ONLY A FEW MINUTES! WE HUMANS NEED TIME TO DO SO! no way around that! what's the rush? you might be using LIVE for the rest of your musical life! like learning to ride a bike! did you learn to do that in 20 minutes? i doubt it! YOU GET MY POINT let's all slow down and learn it RIGHT and use it to the MAX to create something MAGICAL and SOULFUL! (OH - now where did i put my "training wheels?")
I've been searching and searching for videos...Wasted alot of time UNTIL I found your tutorial...I'm 16 minutes in and have a much more in-depth understamding of Ableton than I ever thought possible. OMIGOD this is SO GOOD :) 😍
As a long-time Logic Pro user, I finally had to switch to Abelton Live 11 in order to create much larger files with all of my plug-ins and effects. I thought this would be a short learning curve but was dismayed by how many more features (i.e. Session View) I needed to learn. This comprehensive tutorial saved me HOURS of leaning a new DAW. I was so impressed, I purchased the Udemy course! Thanks so much!!
I love this course. Within the first 20 minutes I made a rudimentary track I love when before I was clueless. I’m an hour in & I’m having so much fun & learning. Hi hats off to you. Thank you immensely. May God bless you with success & prosperity. ✌️❤️
i remember first watching this video a couple years ago and so happy how many more people has found this! This is BY FAR the absolute BEST tutorial your going to find on youtube for learning ableton. I've been through relentless searches and all others honestly was skipping around all over the place making it very confusing and just wanting to show off their beats. But this guy here does it the absolute best and makes things so understandable. I was completely clueless to music production until i stumbled across this video and I haven't been the same since. Making music is now a breeze using Ableton thanks to Thomas. 🔥🔥♥♥
I am watching this because I have wanted to upgrade from reason for about 15 years but always felt the learning curve would be to drastic. I tried watching 10s of "beginner " tutorials. None of them elaid my fears or made it seem worth the jump. I still felt too scared to make the leep and invest time and energy into something I might spend months trying to make a simple beat. This video is amazing. In 10 minutes I realised that Ableton isn't as steep a learning curve as I feared. Thank you.
This tutorial is PHENOMENAL, I don't think I have seen a better and more informative course like this anywhere on UA-cam, as soon as I finished watching this video I went and bought the course on Udemy while it was still on sale for $13, which is well worth it if all of it is as good as this video was (And I'm sure it will be!) Now I just need to save some money for 11 Suite for when my trial runs out...
thanks for this. ive been so low on trying to get my music journey going. i’m a singer and i want to entertain for a living. it’s always been my dream. ive never had a way to make it come true. so i began to buy my home studio piece by piece starting with a computer. once i had everything i needed i had no idea where to start. this is the first video that has really shown and taught me the way of building the ideas and songs that i’ve had stored in my head.
bough your course earlier this year, got me up and running with ableton within 2 weeks. and to be honest, it’s been 6 months since i’ve learnt what i’ve learnt and i haven’t yet finished the course even, but i’ve gone on to complete full tracks already!:) easiest course ever, best one out there!
Absolutly one of the best tutorials around ! I started it saying i am not sure i would be able to do it but now i am sure i am buying the full edition after completing this one ! cheers from France !
I took this man's udemy course on 11 very happy with it use it for reference lots. He is a beauty teacher stoked to see this I'll probably be following along for parts of 11 once bought lolol
Thank you so much for this very thorough walkthrough of this software. I watched the entire video and can now say I feel MUCH more confident in using Ableton Live 11. A huge thank you for putting this together. It was a lot of work for you guys and you did a fantastic job!
I'd agree with others---as a first time Ableton/DAW user I found it all a bit overwhelming with SOOOOOO much functionality. This was a fantastic once over on functionality. So much so that I am planning on doing the 20 hour course. Amazing stuff after having tried a few other UA-cam videos to help get me off of the ground. Thank you so much and I would recommend this as a great primer or even refresher/tweak session for someone to learn a few tricks. Good stuff 🤘🤘🤘
I've been thanking my God all day for leading me to this video. thank you guys SO much for truly teaching me what i need. none like you guys. completely amazing.
Amazing job! I had quite a lot of knowledge gaps when It came to using Ableton and this helped a BUNCH, helping with imposture syndrome and also massively increasing efficiency.
Might be the best video tutorial I've ever seen on *any* subject. At no point did I ever feel like I'd "lost the thread." Extremely well-presented and thoughtful execution. Only regret is that I didn't grab the full course for $20 when I had the chance.
The best tutorial I have found. Explained clearly and slow enough for beginners to easily keep up. Many of the others just go way to fast, thank you for getting me started !
I have been trying to work with the manual since finishing Ableton's own "Introductory lessons". This has taken very little of my time, it is clearly presented, runs at a pace I can follow and I have learned a lot, so I have decided to sign up for the full course.
This is a very good tutorial. I’ve looked at Ableton over the years but never got into it. I’m too lazy to switch from Logic. But recently I got the Ableton Note app which made me want to try the software again. Thanks to you I’m starting to get into Ableton finally!! Thank you!!!
Still today, I am mostly using MPC Beats / MPC 2.0, but THIS video is a great insight into how most DAWs work in general. It would be helpful to have an updated version (yearly) when there is a major update to Ableton.
The session and arrangement views are brilliant! I haven’t even really used Ableton yet and can confidently say I’m going to love it’s workflow, it’s so intuitive, how don’t other DAWs have a similar feature is beyond me. DAWs are such complex programs, they incorporate so many different features, adding something that records your actions instead of you having to add everything manually only makes sense!
This video is the best Ableton tutorial for beginners. I'm a truly beginner who has no idea what to do with so many features, so thank you for sharing your knowledge with such patience 😅. This 2 hrs video is worth the time spent. I haven't even finished and I've done so much already. Thanks again🎉. God bless you
Thanks a lot for the perfect "Beginner tutorial" ! Step by step and with a lot of detail, now finally got the confidence to go further with Ableton. Thanks guys ;)
Not sure I'll you'll see this comment but I gotta say thanks for taking time out your day to make this video. I'm new to this, I'm the artist all I do is go in a studio to record the music but I wanted to learn more so I brought equipment and did. I was so lost like extremely lost before I found this video I followed it step by step hands on for hours pausing rewinding all that making sure I got it down. I just gotta say thanks you saved me so much confusion.
Thank you, you have accomplished the hard task to get me focused for 2 hours. I've learnt a lot of things even without having the daw opened. Keep up the good work.
I’m only an 1hr and 20min in but I’m so thankful for this video. I’m starting to feel more and more confident using Ableton! I even bought your full course! Thank you for sharing!
Thanks so much for this, just got Ableton Live 11 Lite with a Komplete Audio 6, and found this video - as a long time Cakewalk / Sonar user, the session view is really inspiring!
I STRUGGLED TRYING TO FIQURE THINGS OUT AND YOU REALLY HELPED UNLOCK THOSE DOORS. FINALLY… THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR BREAKING IT DOWN FOR ME. IM A WHIZ AT KOMPLETT ULTIMATE, AND LOGIC PRO, BUT I COULDNT GRASP THE CONCEPT OF ABELTON UNTIL I STUDIED YOU VID. TIME TO GET CREATIVE.
Thank you so much! I’m a Waveform 11 user previously only having used GarageBand mobile and so Ableton is pretty unusual to me but I’m committed to learning & mastering it and this will be of great help!
Man, you should teach in Oxford. Very easy and informative explanation, and literally you r covering every aspect of Ableton as if you designed the software Thanks man for this
Excellent tutorial taken step by step in plain english and assuming that the viewer knows nothing. I found this tutorial extremely helpfull and easy to take in.
as a long time ProTools user, Ableton was a bit confusing at the beginning. this video was exactly what i needed to get me accustomed to the tools i'll need
This is a brilliant video thank you so much I haven’t watched it all yet as I think I need to practice with ableton but that’s for taking it back to basics.
This was such a helping tutorial! I've been wanting to learn Ableton for a while but didn't know how to begin, thank you! I recommend this to anyone who wants to start making music with the program🎹🎶
WOW! Finally someone who teaches step by step. Spend 1 hour on the 1st 2 videos. This is awesome. I just need to know how to use the Midi Controller, I have a KeyLab Essential 49 MK3. Anyway, thanks for the videos. Continue tomorrow. Can you make a video in how to connect correctly the Midi controler with iMac Mini M1.? Thanks
This is excellent. I'm new to all this and it was overwhelming and daunting at first. This video has really made me enjoy learning how it all works and settled me down. Thanks so much guys.
When it comes to tutorials for beginners, you translate best of all in the world this course I haven't seen yet, but I'm just sitting down to watch. But I saw your tutorials on skillshare.
Amazing. just what i needed, thankyou Tomas George. Transitioning from Logic to Ableton because i have a beast of a gaming pc and a hundred year old mac
My advice is to roll a big spliff and then load it up and experiment - some great vids like this well worth watching all of them as spend about an hour getting warmed up to know the basics. I banged out our tune well proud of and will upload it to my channel soon!
As per the comment from Steve Briggs, I have just got to the end of the first 20minutes and I've learned a lot already. I have experience of using Cakewalk and MPC Beats and most DAWs are similar even though each process might go through a different series of steps to do the same thing, I am loving my introduction to Ableton Live Lite...... I have just purchased an M-Audio Keystation after my AKAI MPK mini became a little limiting with key size and octave range.
This is it! I watched a bunch of "Learn Ableton in 15 Minutes" videos that just left me confused or frustrated. I am so glad I set aside the time to watch this tutorial. Awesome!

Me too, i haven't even finished and I've done so much thanks to this complete tutorial🎉
i watched 5 of them and NONE of them told me you had to double click to place a "tile" while making your midi.

This is the best narration and the best daw. I tried 5 daws and this one doesnt operate like a junk pile. What a relief this all is🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Hey Tomas, I have to compliment you: I have been working in music production for 30 years now, and while I am right now in the phase of restructuring my studio (and I still got no intern that crawls for me under the Desks), this course came randomly up in the mighty YT Algorithm. But this was not that. Even doing Audio Network and Server Stuff your voice somehow found a way thru, and I ESPECIALLY AM IMPRESSED, how you still manage to explain every little step, that must be bread and butter for years. Thank you, you have accomplished the hard task to get me focused for 2 hours. I've learnt a lot of things even without having the daw opened. Keep up the good work.
You've unclutered more in 2.5 hours than in the hours of lessons I've taken :-). Thanks guys !

It is so fitting that this came out on my literal birthday, so thank you becasue this tutorial has been the most beginner friendly course ive seen.
I started learning Ableton even while you are demonstrating. Wonderful. Thank You.

I’m a complete beginner, I’m really thankful at how much info you are giving, 👏🏾💕
Thank you so much! I’m a Waveform 11 user previously only having used GarageBand mobile and so Ableton is pretty unusual to me but I’m committed to learning & mastering it and this will be of great help!
Man, you should teach in Oxford.
Very easy and informative explanation, and literally you r covering every aspect of Ableton as if you designed the software
Thanks man for this
I've watched many other Ableton tutorials, and this is by far the best one I've seen. Well done!!
Excellent tutorial taken step by step in plain english and assuming that the viewer knows nothing. I found this tutorial extremely helpfull and easy to take in.
Excellent Refresher tutorial after taking a break from Ableton. Back on track in no time! Thank you 👍🏻
Wow.. you guys know the meaning of teaching.. Fantastic job here! Wish you success!

This was a great starting point, thanks a lot and kudos to the Ableton devs, this tool is incredible!
as a long time ProTools user, Ableton was a bit confusing at the beginning. this video was exactly what i needed to get me accustomed to the tools i'll need
Just got ableton live 11 suite and I’m a complete novice, this has helped me out so much thanks for this brilliant course.
Thank you for sharing this! I've never quite been able to wrap my head around Ableton, but this has been a perfect beginner guide.
Glad I found this, I was discouraged as a beginner and was about to give up after watching the other "tutorials".
This is a fantastic video for true beginners of Ableton! I went ahead and bought the course 20 minutes in! :)
Thinking of getting into Ableton and this video answered a lot of questions. Thanks
Thank you so much for this tutorial, having the opportunity to follow along and make tracks as you talk through makes all the difference.
Very well organised and beginner friendly. 1st time using this DAW and already learning alot thank you @Tomas George :)
This is a brilliant video thank you so much I haven’t watched it all yet as I think I need to practice with ableton but that’s for taking it back to basics.
Thanks. I was so OVERWHELMED. Just watched the first episode. I'm going to take it slow but I know I found the right channel 😌💕🦅🎤

Thanks
command v VS control v.
the most usefull course ive ever been in.
Oh man thumps up …I ve been WatchIng your tutorials for a while now….this one is so much “mother of Ableton basics tutorials” …thank you so much
This was so well done. You explained and demonstrated things sooo well. Thank You for putting these lessons together. And now just bought the course.
Thanks John! I’m glad you enjoyed this video and I hope you find our course useful
Tomas George Where exactly can I bus this course ??
This is excellent. I'm new to all this and it was overwhelming and daunting at first. This video has really made me enjoy learning how it all works and settled me down. Thanks so much guys.
dare I say this is one of the best music related tutorials on UA-cam
When it comes to tutorials for beginners, you translate best of all in the world this course I haven't seen yet, but I'm just sitting down to watch. But I saw your tutorials on skillshare.
Amazing. just what i needed, thankyou Tomas George. Transitioning from Logic to Ableton because i have a beast of a gaming pc and a hundred year old mac
You guys are legends!. Been looking for a comprehensive tutorial and I believe yours is the easiest to follow for absolute beginners. Thank you 🙂
My advice is to roll a big spliff and then load it up and experiment - some great vids like this well worth watching all of them as spend about an hour getting warmed up to know the basics.
Perfect! All round brilliant. Super pace, super explanation! Many thanks!
I finished your tutorial about live 10 .. Now 11 .. Hoping for more content in future.. Keep going❤
Nice! I hope you enjoy this video
