Tragedy took Patsy’s life far too soon. One of the greatest singers of all time who sadly died in her prime. Loved your reaction and love the variety of music to which you listen. Haven’t heard this song in decades. Brings back great memories. Thanks!
Crazy by Patsy Cline was written by the now great country legend Willie Nelson before he became famous. Try Willie Nelson/Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain.
The legendary Patsy Cline. Never had any formal vocal training at all - that was pure, God-given talent. As you know, the song was written by Willie Nelson, one of the most prolific and gifted songwriters ever, in my opinion. The gorgeous piano accompaniment was courtesy of Floyd Cramer, a hugely successful recording artist in his own right. This magical recording is the result of a perfect blend of artist, songwriter, and musicians. Recorded in one take, and no autotune. The truly great ones don't need it. Thanks for the wonderful reaction! 💖
1961 or 2021 the message in her songs still ring true today. Her voice, emotions and passions come through with much truth. she puts the spot light on love and relationships. Can love drive you crazy or make you feel that way?? YES. GREAT REACTION.
Patsy is a legend. Her voice is one you know the second the song starts. Her song Sweet Dreams is my favorite. The movie I think best tells her life story is also called Sweet Dreams. Amazing lady !!💖💖💖 GONE TO SOON 😥
Thanks for reacting to the great Patsy Cline. She had the voice of an angel. She died way to young at 29 in a plane crash at her peak leaving behind her mother, husband, and two babies. The movie Sweet Dreams is about her life and stars the great Jessica Lange as Patsy for which she got an Oscar nomination. the song sweet dreams was a huge hit for her too. Take care.
Patsy Cline is the standard by which female country artist are measured by. She was the first female solo artist inducted into the Country Music HOF, but she also had crossover appeal, with her hits making the it onto non-country charts as well. Her version of crazy is the number one juke box song of all time. “Sweet Dreams” and her cover of Bob Wills’s “Faded Love” are both phenomenal.examples of her vocal talent. She had the amazing ability to put herself into the song as if she was really living the words she was singing, and in so doing she was able to make the listener feel what she was feeling.
At first, Patsy didn't want to record this song because she couldn't sing it with the jazz phrasing that songwriter Willie Nelson sung it with. She was told to just sing it with her natural style...and she made it her own! They don't call her the Queen of Country Music for nothing. Simply one of the greatest female vocalists of all time who was tragically taken from the world way too early. Sweet Dreams is another Patsy Cline must-listen.
She is wearing the headband in this performance as she had been in a car crash that severely injured her and cut her face and it was to hide the scars. She died in a plane crash in her thirties. She had one of those instantly recognisable voices. If you heard a few bars you just knew it was her.
Willie Nelson wrote this song as a teenager and Willie Nelson wrote another song for Patsy Cline but she pasted away. Leeann Rhymes recorded the Willie Nelson "Blue".
Patsy took then an unknown singer named Loretta Lynn under her wing. Loretta became close friend of Patsy as she was pregnant with twin girls. She named one of them, Patsy. There is an old movie called Coal Miner's Daughter with Sissy Spacek as Loretta Lynn and Beverly D'Angelo as Patsy Cline. In this movie, there is a section on friendship and sisterly relationship of Loretta and Patsy up to Patsy's sudden death from plane crash. Speaking of Willie Nelson, Snoop Dogg is a close of Willie stated that Willie out smoked him.......lol
Another singer from that time that had several hits was Connie Francis. ‘Where the Boys Are” & “Who’s Sorry Now” are a couple of them. Another I remember is Gale Garnett “We’ll Sing in the Sunshine”.
Not just with Patsy, but with so many artists from this era...These singers and songwriters really knew what it was like to have your heart broken, and they could make such fantastic songs out of it. They made heartbreak sound beautiful. This might be the best song ever written about what it feels like to be hopelessly in love with someone when you know, deep down, that they aren't worth it.
If you remember in the movie, Patsy is in a horrific car accident. The headband she has on in the video is to hide a bad scar. You should also watch the 1985 movie, Sweet Dreams, about Patsy. Jessica Lange was nominated for an Oscar.
The background singers on this recording were The Jordanaires. The quartet were Elvis Presley's background singers from 1955 through to the late 1960s. They also can be heard on other artist's recordings like Ricky Nelson. A contractual stipulation required they could not be credited by name for their work on other artist's releases.
When I was young 40 years ago people mocked country music left and right by misrepresenting it…..the mockers sang like idiots and said that was country music. THE MOCKERS LIED. Patsy Cline sang REAL country music. Patsy Cline was one of the most beautiful singers in the entire world.
Here’s a little info behind the song... You are correct in the release date of 1961. As mentioned in other comments, Crazy was written by Willie Nelson who also recorded it for his debut album. Patsy’s husband Charlie heard it on the jukebox of Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge while he was there during one of Patsy’s shows on the Opry. Tootsies was a famous hangout for opry stars back then. Patsy hated it when she heard it for the first time and couldn’t get the phrasing right because she said she could not speak the words as Willie did. Her producer Owen Bradley told her to make it her own. She had difficulty recording the song because she was also recovering from a car wreck that nearly killed her several months before. She went home while the musicians laid down the instrumental. One week later Patsy came back and recorded the song in ONE take, which is the magical version that has become legendary. Long time Patsy stan here ❤️❤️❤️
When Patsy's plane crashed, Roger Miller went into the woods searching for her. All he found was bits of flesh imbedded in the trees, and the only real human remains left was Patsy's head and torso. . BTW.....Willie Nelson wrote this song.
Sadly Mrs Cline Didn't Have The Chance To See Her Career Be More Successful Passing Away In A Plane Crash On March 5th 1963 Age 30. in 1973 She Became The First Female Solo Artist To Be Inducted Into The Country Music Hall Of Fame
**SONG REQUEST** I think u both will LOVE this one because u are absolutely adorable as a couple....It’s called “Rockin Years” by Dolly Parton and Ricky Van Shelton
I first found your channel because watching Elvis Presley reaction videos has become a fun hobby of mine. I've loved all your Elvis reactions and am thrilled how much you guys seem to truly have a deep appreciation for The King. But then, I saw this Patsy Cline reaction and was amazed. It feels like you guys are going through my own personal playlist! Patsy had a once in a lifetime voice that transcended any music genre. If you have time, I would love to see your reactions to some of her greatest hits. I've listed them below and I hope you get a chance to do them. I think you guys would really love them: I Fall To Pieces - ua-cam.com/video/iuZTk1hdpMs/v-deo.html She's Got You - ua-cam.com/video/MWCUh6tf7PA/v-deo.html Walkin' After Midnight - ua-cam.com/video/bsRNCvHXHHU/v-deo.html Why Can't He Be You - ua-cam.com/video/UCrSmJ_YCk8/v-deo.html Thanks, and keep up the good work! P.S. I'd love to share some Elvis videos that I think that you guys would really get a thrill out of.
Gone way too soon.I believe at thirty yrs. Could u react to sweet dreams by pastry. Ssh he had three little children .when she died in an airplane crash.
A bit of trivia Patsy here in this video before was in a bad car crash, she was severly injured, she was wearing that gold band around her forehead because it covers the scar there.
I love all kinds of music, but my sweet spots are country(80's is my favorite), and the oldies(50's & 60's). Please check out some George Strait(most all songs are great). Amarilo By Morning, All My Exes Live in Texas, The Chair, Baby Blue, etc...
I heard this song in a TV movie for the first time in 1993 with my wife (then girlfriend) and it must have been halfway through watching that we both came to the realisation that we loved every song she'd song up until that point, so we both had to asked the obvious question... how come we had never heard of this women before???? .... In 1993 we both would have been in our mid 20s yet we had never heard her name or any of her songs. Believe me when I say that growing up listening to commercial radio practically every day (you could not avoid it) I don't ever remember hearing any Patsy Cline songs. If you are old enough to remember the 1970's and 80's then you will know that songs from the 1950's and 60's were on the radio constantly. You could not avoid hearing them, least not like nowadays where there are so many channels and methods and devices to engage with music, that you can literally choose to only listen to one style of music and pretty much avoid listening to anything else. So how Patsy Cline records were not a regular part of the play list of 1970s and 80s commercial radio is beyond me. I mean even if you set aside the many great records she made, It still does not explain how an amazing song like Crazy (I don't know anyone who does not think that it isn't an amazing record), was not a part of the popular music landscape. Trust me if it was I would not have had to discover the song in a movie on TV as late as 1993 (the movie was made in 1985 and stars Jessica Lang and Ed Harris). Why it never got regular air play like the other classic records from the same time period just makes no sense whatsoever.
I'm not even into country but Patsy is another level. Haunting vocals. Chills me to the bone every time.
Tragedy took Patsy’s life far too soon. One of the greatest singers of all time who sadly died in her prime. Loved your reaction and love the variety of music to which you listen. Haven’t heard this song in decades. Brings back great memories. Thanks!
Hey Dave North, thank you for your comment
Crazy by Patsy Cline was written by the now great country legend Willie Nelson before he became famous. Try Willie Nelson/Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain.
You can never unhear, her crystal voice❣
She was one of the queens of country music. She did everything her way and got away with it, too.
Yesss👏🏽

Ooh you're doing Patsy Cline now! I love her music. I grew up around a lot of old people 😂
At first, Patsy didn't want to record this song because she couldn't sing it with the jazz phrasing that songwriter Willie Nelson sung it with.
