This is a rabbit hole of purity in her voice. Walking after Midnight is another good one, Patsy will never disappoint. Her and Lorretta Lynn were best friends.

This is one of the best country voices around. Patsy had dramatic volume control, stretched-note effects, sobs, pauses & unique ways of holding back, then bursting into full-throated phrases. Patsy had so many great hits such as "Crazy", "She's Got You", "When I Get Through With You", "Sweet Dreams", "So Wrong", "Leavin' on Your Mind", "Walkin' After Midnight", "I Fall To Pieces" "San Antonio Rose", "Blue Moon Of Kentucky", "Half As Much", "He Called Me Baby", "Faded Love", "Imagine That". She was only 31 when she died in a plane crash in 1963. In 1985 Jessica Lange starred in the movie about Patsy's life called "Sweet Dreams".

She had a lot of pain in her marriage. Another movie to watch, is "Sweet Dreams" which is about her life. Sweet Dreams was one of her beautiful songs, "Crazy" is another.

patsy was a run of the mill hillbilly singer in the 50's, struggling to find her way. finally her manager guided her toward deeper songs and a unique style. she became the first country 'torch' singer. she was one of a kind.
When you guys watch 'Coal Miner's Daughter' you'll get to see the friendship that Loretta and Patsy had. You will be impressed by the actresses that play them because they sing Patsy's and Loretta's songs themselves and there was no dubbing done. Sissy Spacek, who plays Loretta, is phenomenal in the role and she did win the Oscar for portraying Loretta in the film. Beverly D'Angelo, who plays Patsy, was also incredible in her role. You will love the movie.....can't wait til you tell us about it!
I've always been amazed by Beverly's voice and wondered why she never went into singing more. Her singing on Vegas Vacation blew me away!
Yes indeed, I love Coal miners Daughter and Sweet Dreams was such a sad movie but good also. Both ladies phenomenal singers and beautiful inside and out.

" Coal Miners Daughter" (bio on Loretta Lyn, by the way she was still alive when she got tive friends as well as coached Sissy Spacek) and of course, "Sweet Dreams" on bio of Patsy Cline! She died in the early 60"a at the young age of only 31.
There will never be another female singer that will ever be as good as patsy cline ever . She was and is the best in the world even though she past away a long time ago and today no one can come even close to her

One of the most incredible voices in Country Music ever. I don't think there will ever be a better female singer in that genre. She can convey so much emotion in her voice and you guys are right - you can feel the pain. She was amazing. Many people can totally relate to those lyrics and the way she sings them you can put yourself right in that position.

Great song, you can't go wrong with Patsy Cline. Crazy, and I fall to pieces are great also.
When you watch "Coal Miner's Daughter", you will see how Patsy (played by Beverly D'Angelo) took Loretta Lynn (played by Sissy Spacek, who won the Oscar for this role) under her wing after her arrival in Nashville and helped groom her into the performer that she soon became. Loretta idolized Patsy Cline and was totally devastated when Patsy was tragically killed in a plane crash in 1963.

it has been said that what made Patsy's songs so many levels above all others is that she lived the song while singing it, the pain you hear is what she felt as she sang it, she became the song. Listen to Faded Love, she is actually crying at the end

So many great performances crammed into too few years (she was only 30 when she died in that plane crash in 1963). Anything she sang is gold but I'd recommend "Sweet Dreams". A beautiful song with a wonderful arrangement, it was her final hit during her lifetime.

Patsy was Loretta Lynn's mentor and friend. They're both legendary country female singers. Both are well worth continuing to explore.
On March 3, 1963, Cline performed a benefit at the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall, Kansas City, Kansas, for the family of disc jockey "Cactus" Jack Call; he had died in an automobile crash a little over a month earlier. Also performing in the show were George Jones, George Riddle and The Jones Boys, Billy Walker, Dottie West, Wilma Lee and Stoney Cooper, George McCormick, the Clinch Mountain Boys as well as Cowboy Copas and Hawkshaw Hawkins. Despite having a cold, Cline gave three performances: 2:00, 5:15 and 8:15 pm. All the shows were standing-room only. For the 2 p.m. show, she wore a sky-blue tulle-laden dress; for the 5:15 show a red shocker; and for the closing show at 8 p.m., Cline wore white chiffon. Her final song was the last she had recorded the previous month, "I'll Sail My Ship Alone".[105]
Cline, who had spent the night at the Town House Motor Hotel, was unable to fly out the day after the concert because Fairfax Airport was fogged in. West asked Patsy to ride in the car with her and husband, Bill, back to Nashville, a 16-hour drive, but Cline refused, saying, "Don't worry about me, Hoss. When it's my time to go, it's my time." On March 5, she called her mother from the motel and checked out at 12:30 p.m., going the short distance to the airport and boarding a Piper PA-24 Comanche plane, aircraft registration number N7000P. On board were Cline, Copas, Hawkins and pilot Randy Hughes.
The plane stopped once in Rogers, Arkansas to refuel and subsequently landed at Dyersburg Municipal Airport in Dyersburg, Tennessee at 5 p.m.[106] Hawkins had accepted Billy Walker's place after Walker left on a commercial flight to take care of a stricken family member. The Dyersburg, Tennessee, airfield manager suggested that they stay the night because of high winds and inclement weather, offering them free rooms and meals. But Hughes, who was not trained in instrument flying, said "I've already come this far. We'll be there before you know it." The plane took off at 6:07 p.m.[107]
Cline's flight crashed in heavy weather on the evening of Tuesday, March 5, 1963. Her recovered wristwatch had stopped at 6:20 p.m. The plane was found some 90 miles (140 km) from its Nashville destination, in a forest outside of Camden, Tennessee. Forensic examination concluded that everyone aboard had been killed instantly.[108][109] Until the wreckage was discovered the following dawn and reported on the radio, friends and family had not given up hope. Endless calls tied up the local telephone exchanges to such a degree that other emergency calls had trouble getting through. The lights at the destination Cornelia Fort Airpark were kept on throughout the night, as reports of the missing plane were broadcast on radio and TV.

Early in the morning, Roger Miller and a friend went searching for survivors: "As fast as I could, I ran through the woods screaming their names-through the brush and the trees-and I came up over this little rise, oh, my God, there they were. It was ghastly. The plane had crashed nose down."[110] Shortly after the bodies were removed, looters scavenged the area. Some of the items which were recovered were eventually donated to the Country Music Hall of Fame. Among them were Cline's wristwatch, a Confederate flag cigarette lighter, studded belt and three pairs of gold lamé slippers. Cline's fee in cash from the last performance was never recovered.[109] Per her wishes, Cline's body was brought home for her memorial service, which thousands attended. People jammed against the small tent over her gold casket and the grave to take all the flowers they could reach as keepsakes.[111] She was buried at Shenandoah Memorial Park in her hometown of Winchester, Virginia. Her grave is marked with a bronze plaque, which reads: "Virginia H. Dick ('Patsy Cline' is noted under her name) 'Death Cannot Kill What Never Dies: Love'." A memorial marks the exact place off Mt Carmel Road in Camden, Tennessee, where the plane crashed in the still-remote forest.[91]

Yeah, my mother absolutely loved Patsy Cline, who was friends with Loretta Lynn, and Loretta was a huge fan of Patsy before they became friends. Loretta even named one of kids after her. The song "Sweet Dreams" was one that really shows off Patsy's vocal talent. There's quite a bit of hits to go through when it comes to ol' Patsy Cline.

Patsy Cline was the only country singer for the late 50s-early 60s as far as I'm concerned. She had the emotions, the voice, the whole package. Another sad song from her is I Fall to Pieces. A classic!

Loretta Lynn was an upcoming country singer back in the50s . Loretta got to visit patsy cline in the hospital and Paths encouraged Loretta to stay at singing country music. And it wasn't too long after her visit in the hospital that party passed away.😢

Really great singer, taken from us way to early, she and Loretta Lynn were very good friends which you will see in the movie when you watch coal miners daughter. Her death really affected Loretta very badly for many years that she couldn't even sing her songs for a long time.

My grandfather on my mother's side loved Patsy Cline. He would sit on the porch in an old wicker chair and listen to the radio, Patsy and baseball in the early 50's. Good memories for someone now 72.🤗
