Maybe everyone has to know how this song came from. Like 4 years ago I was still helping to Andrea V. for festival and Andrew York came to festival and wrote this song for him but he didn't find a name yet .we were in dinner with Muriel Anderson and other musicians she said to him why don't you give name of Yağmur (which is my name) it's exotic and mysterious. We talked and he decided to give this name first he called the song with my actual name Yağmur then he changed cuz not everyone knows how to pronounce this name he changed the name like how u pronounce it 'Yamour'. I'm really proud of this.if u wanna know what yağmur means...rain
There is something special and beautiful when a composer plays his own music. Andrew is that special composer because he touches the heart and soul of the listener.
Andrew is a great guitarist and composer and I am honored that he has written this piece dedicated to me for my RAIN album! Enjoy this beautiful music...
Andrew York is a stunningly talented artist. He plays with true mastery and his compositions are gorgeous. I had the extreme pleasure of seeing him in concert and then auditing one of his master classes recently and I'm still blown away by the breadth of his knowledge and his cheerful warmth and generosity when sharing all he knows with other guitarists. Please support him in any way you can; he's a real musical genius and a heck of a nice guy, too.
My wife is a really incredible guitarist and can memorize pieces on the instrument very quickly... So once, when we were teens, I had had a particularly bad day and couldn't sleep that night. So, knowing how much I love classical music, she learned this piece and sat next to my bed playing it all night until I fell asleep. I can't listen to it without getting a little teary-eyed now.
To anyone asking for the music sheet or tabs: Please support Andrew York and buy the sheet he sells on his website. I just bought "Mechanism" and am very happy with it!
@@bradejensen FFS I just asked a question,I can learn this song in a day if I can get tabs but apparently there aren't any so I guess I'd have to learn to read music sheets.
The piece and this performance are such a masterpiece! To me, York pieces are characterized by colorful chords and beautiful melodies. But the playing... he's just a master of dynamic and timbre manipulation, and for this piece the bit of voice accompaniment really adds to that. It's such a vibrant, beautiful performance. I can't stop watching it!
I absolutely love this piece Andrew York. It makes me feel so happy inside! It reminds me of driving up to Vermont in the Summer! All of your music has that wonderful, warm, happy feeling.
I can't believe I just discovered this. This has to be one of guitar's "defining" moments seeing Andrew play one of his best originals on that old Torres. Wow, does it sound good. There's something special about seeing an artist play their own stuff with feeling and depth. Doesn't happen often in the classical guitar world because everybody plays the old stuff (which I love by the way).
The sound you hear here is made by a lot of studio effects - too many for my taste. Also the player is great - he could play like this on any guitar better than middle class. Guitars are overrated.
@@thomasszejnmann3917 This particular guitar is so far from underrated..Torres guitars are absolutely magnificent and set the stage for the modern guitar we have today. The tone and sound that comes from a Torres can not be replicated..
Good Golly Mr. York... not only gift of playing but composition. Just astounding how beautiful. Not what I expected on an '88 Torres, which sounds stupendous. Thank you.
Just discovered this tonight, wow! Beautiful song and love how Andrew keeps the tempo going so perfectly. This is when music goes up a level into something spiritual. Wow!
The quality of the piece is very good. The guitar paired up with Mr. York's amazing composing and playing talent makes the piece sound so well. Hats off to you for composing such an amazing piece!
Maestro, escuchar ésta bellísima melodía y toda su producción en general es; cómo sentirse transportada a un hermoso paraíso, su música es como una caricia al alma. Gracias 🤗
Andy York writes sophisticated music that regular folks can enjoy. This is the most beautiful sound from a guitar that I've heard on GSI's page so far. Just AWESOME!
this is one of the greatest performances I've ever listened to, the song is beautiful, the guitar sounds amazing, and Andrew York is incredible. beyond the melody and harmonies of the song itself, the perfectly placed subtle vibrato and harmonics and right hand playing angle to effortlessly change the timbre of the notes, is goosebump inducing if you really take a critical listen. to top it off he fades it out with just his dynamics, who needs a DAW fade out! maybe that's more common than I thought, but its so cool. It sounds so good in this setting it makes the studio version almost un-listenable (sorry not sorry!)
This is a great video Andrew! It looks like you are thoroughly enjoying the guitar and its a really inspired performance on this one. You still da man my brother!
I would love to play this song somewhen during summer here in bavaria while walking somewhere in the bavarian alps. This song creates such a special atmosphere😊
A track I never want to end - A truly remarkable player with infusions of Jazz bass lines, as heard in this piece - York is far more than a nylon classical player. In much of his work we hear ancient lute, the classics and a fusion of streetstyle warm fingerpicking, there is even Romanic type folk style laced with his own trait. As much as I adore Williams or Bream Classical, York brings much more colour, more poetry and is more than capable and willing of breaking 'classical rules' to bring texture and amazement. Much appreciated is the brilliance.
Such a beautiful and unique approach. It’s not the fretboard that we navigate, it’s another place altogether. I feel like I’m seeing colors I’ve never seen
Gracias por dejarnos escuchar entre sus manos los más profundos sentimientos de su corazón!!😄 Una ejecución tan brillante como el mismísimo sol que resplandece cada día!!!!Muchas gracias en verdad!!!!!
What surprises me about this is certainly not Mr York's typical performance theatrics or the forgettable tune, it is the fact that here we have a guitar that is over 130 years old and it still sounds really good. I never thought of guitars ageing well like violins but this is a testament to the mastery of Mr Torres. I bet it costs over $100,000.
What?? Anyone who has played many guitars knows that old ones always sound the best. The more they are played, the better they sound. Really old guitars definitely have a very special sound from the wood having vibrated at certain frequencies for so many years and producing such rich overtones.

Does he sell tabs though? I'm guessing music sheets don't show you frets?
Learn to read music, maybe? For real though. It is so much easier to play when you can read music. Figuring out fingerings is the hard part.
How long will it take me to be able to read music sheets?

The tone on that guitar is outstanding,, And so beautifully played.. I never get tired of listening to this wonderful piece…
My absolute favorite Andrew York piece! Astounding in the themes he throws at you. The addition of vocal is genius. Love it!
When I want to truly believe I'm a terrible guitar player, I play this.
I'm never disappointed.
+Jeff Wulf - I concur...I love your humility : )
You shouldn't be so hard on yourself. Andrew York is a master, and you will eventually become as good as him :)
Keep practicing!
I'm sure it sounds great, Jeff! :)
I also bought the sheet music. It might be easy listening, but it is not easy playing!

What a lovely piece and performance. I also enjoyed very much hearing his voice...

The transition back to B minor at around 4:22 never fails to give me chills.
yeah😄🥰🥰🥰
for real
This is one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard on guitar. It brought me to tears. Thank you, Mr. York.
The guitar world is creating amazing music right now.
Is this guy from our planet?! This is exceptional!
I love this song so much...
It has likes, probably a lot, they´re just not shown for some reason.

I must have listened to this six times today! I love it!
This piece has breathed a new life into the old horse
The artist, at one with the music, and at one with the instrument. So good!
No words to describe this music. Andrew York makes me dream, thank you so much for this video.

Really enjoying Mr York and his 19thcentury Torres guitar. It is the 1st time I have seen or heard him play.
This is so lovely.
This de Torres guitar has such a unique sound, the reverberation and clarity is absolutely amazing! In Andrew’s hands it truly sings🤙🤙🤙
the greatest contemporary guitar work ever written.
uhm...Paco de Lucia....
Agreed, something like Chanela is certainly a bigger statement on the guitar than this but obviously York is a legend too.
Paco De Lucia doesn't sound that great to me!!!!!! ua-cam.com/video/89zM9pZzt0U/v-deo.html

his playing (always) sings, and here now he sings! Keep on!!!
This is the first time I've seen Andrew York play one of his works. Wow! He sure gets along well with that Torres guitar. Most enjoyable.

Merci de partager votre merveilleuse composition. Magnifiquement joue.
The main bass rythm and the frugal vocals remind me to Africa. Wonderful piece, thanks for sharing.
The headplate rattles ever so slightly, and it is easily removed, so it seemed like the right thing to do for recording.
Cheers,
Don't worry, I think they like it.

Soul guitar played by the maestro in the state of deep meditation. Syncrony realized. Wow.....
